REO Reunion = Vocal Disaster
You can see why Kevin didn't want to work with Bruce. Bruce seems like a nice guy but ouch on the vocals and he just looks like hell.
Back On The Road:
https://youtu.be/a5jcd2MBYi8?si=azTqwqdiW1qvO60o
Apparently, it was amateur hour at the REO shindig with these vocals
Only The Strong Survive:
https://youtu.be/oikNX8Wnb2s?si=FS7JqwulZHr3yzQ4
At least he's a founding member but Terry Luttrell is sounding like a Karaoke singer on this song
Golden Country:
https://youtu.be/hTVPWQitEdY?si=7ugD4OsdMB9mhjt5
The best of the bunch, sorta. The guy who sings the verses sounds ok but Luttrell comes in with the pre chorus to muck things up again.
Roll With The Changes:

I guess they raised some money for cancer, and they probably had a good time. Not sure it helped the legacy.

“Golden Country” is one of the greatest fucking rock songs of all time. F.A.C.T.
As for those clips…I’ve heard WAAAAAAAAY worse from guys their age.

I've always been on Cronin's side during this whole ordeal, but these videos... wow. With all due respect to the memory of Gary Richrath, and to Bruce Hall and Neal Doughty - REO is nothing without Cronin. They never would have found success without Cronin's hit singles. Dave Amato and Bryan Hitt were both in the band for a very long time, and they don't deserve to lose their job because Hall and Doughty outvoted Cronin. Also - the guy singing the verses of "Roll With The Changes" is from a band called Levon. I saw them open for REO in 2019. They are very good.

It's good to be bad
It's the best time you'll ever have
What the hell is this ultra sad
Pray for your cool and work on that ass!

When you’re not using the arena level REO production and sound the whole operation looks and sounds like one those pathetic Jefferson Starship (non Mickey Thomas version) concerts from the past decade.
I never had a issue with Bruce Hall through the years, but it was clear post pandemic, he aged dramatically. All this show is, is an ego fest from the controlling parties. If the plan is to do more of these, footage like this will have them playing in front of 150 people in 45 days time.

Re: REO Reunion = Vocal Disaster
To be fair, this was billed as a one-off final farewell show for the REO legacy and fans-- really more of a party and reunion thrown together than a polished concert. Gratzer and Doughty are totally retired and there certainly don't appear to be any plans to do this again. They had Hall's kids and Richrath's son playing. No doubt the reason the Levon guys were out there was because they knew help was needed with some of the parts and on lead vocals.
Meanwhile the Styx / Kevin Cronin tour is canceling multiple shows this summer (apparently upsetting a good chunk of your fans and sending out a tour that everyone's already seen multiple times before isn't a great idea) and it will be interesting to see if KC ever does make up with Hall or if this is really the end.

That is a GREAT comparison. I watched Roll with the Changes and HOLY FUCK that's bad. I had to turn it off halfway through the first chorus, but I totally got that same, "They are WAY too old to be doing this shit" vibe.ParaDime77 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 17, 2025 4:51 pm When you’re not using the arena level REO production and sound the whole operation looks and sounds like one those pathetic Jefferson Starship (non Mickey Thomas version) concerts from the past decade.

I really hope that's the case, because I'd be worried about some of those guys dying on tour.

It's about 2 levels better than current Don Dokken.

Re: REO Reunion = Vocal Disaster
it's debatable.... granted Don lost all of his range but he still is somewhat close to the pitches he attempts. albeit a low pitch lol. He's not scratchy or frogged out. He just doesn't go there. He stays in the low register and hits the low keys. Still sounds horrible for Dokken but it's not Paul Stanley croaking 2012 style. imo
Not even sure how to describe the voice of the girl on Only the Strong Survive (who I've since found out is Bruces daughter so Ill cut her a little slack). Talk about scratchy...
Bruce himself is struggling for pitch so can't blame Kevin for not wanting that, on top of him running around like Quasimodo.
As far as I can tell they should have let the Levon guy sing everything. Give Luttrell and Murphy a song they sang on each but to ruin Roll with the Changes like that in an arena full of people is kind of head scratching.
Again, they had fun, and it raised money ultimately so good on them, but I would have run the show differently if I were Neal, Alan and Bruce.

Bruce looks bad? Kevin looks like an elderly lesbian at a women's march.
