I watch the same movies and tv shows over and over

Post by roxxxtar »

What’s wrong with me?
Rarely ever watch anything new. I’d rather watch Back To The Future for the 137th time or an episode of The Office that I know every single line of.

It's almost like you're posting on a message board where over 90% of its users rarely listen to anything new and would rather listen to washed-up rock bands for the 137th time or refresh the page 10x per day to find out whether Vince Neil has another stroke before Motley's Vegas "residency".

People often watch stuff for comfort. Stuff you've already seen and like is predictably entertaining and comfortable. Low risk, high reward. It's pretty normal.

Don't quit rock music cold turkey. It's OK to make a gradual change over to more YEEHAW.

I only rewatch stuff when I don't want to pay 100% attention.
That happens a lot more lately.

Sounds great. I tire of having to find new stuff all the time.

I have had these shows in constant rotation for the last 30 years (at least Cheers and Mash). Like others have said, I like them and don't have to pay attention. I'll end the season and go back S1E1

Cheers
Mash
Larry Sanders
Curb

So do I:

I Love Lucy - Most of the time.
Youtube - Some of the time.
MeTV - all night.

No news as it is too depressing. Mannix, Cannon, and Lucy always seem to cheer me up.

I have too swamped with media here to do that. I read the Wiki page afterward to figure out what happened.

I mostly just listen to music with maybe a short YouTube doc or 2 at night. Right now I have a list of concerts arranged chronologically. I am listening to them day in history style, mainly to get thru the ones I haven't listened to yet. Less pain for the brain than trying to just pick something off a 20TB drive.

Like with music. most "new" stuff is disposable trash, so I also re-watch the same movies/shows I really like.

Guilty! It’s the same with music to me though. I listen or watch what I know I like to get into whatever mood I want to be in.

And yeah…I know what’s coming next so I can tune out a bit.

I watch new stuff too though but very little of it is worth watching twice. It’s funny that the original poster mentioned Back to the Future. That’s one of my “go to” movies as well.

Same here. I've watched The Sopranos all the way through 8 - 10 times easily. Breaking Bad & Better Call Saul aren't far behind. I think it's more because of the actors than anything else. Once you find ppl you like to watch like Gandolfini, Cranston, Odenkirk and Seehorn, its comforting to see them on your screen even if you have the story memorized by now. Looking forward to Vince Gilligan & Rhea Seehorn's new show Plur1bus in a couple of months tho. Hopefully its good
