2025 COUNTRY IS BETTER THAN ROCK: I'm a couple Jack Daniels in on a Sat Night

Post by gtshark1 »

HARDY is better than Motley Crue
Jon Pardi is better than Ghost
Randall King is better than Bruce Dickinson
George Jones is better than The Beatles

Maybe my brother LAglamrocker agrees? Who cares.... off to City Lights.

2025 country is better than nothing. There is literally absolutely nothing worse than modern country music!!!

Sure sounds like it. 2025 country simultaneously blows chunks and sucks major dong. Hell, pretty much all country music has since sometime in the early-to-mid 90's, IMO. Gimme the older stuff.

I think it would be cool if one of them sung about a pickup truck.

Bro Country is basically the Hair metal of today.

I love it all.

Hardy is more 'Rock' than most of todays rock bands.

That was terrible. On par with the worst Bulletboys live album in the mid-90s. Just unlistenable.

For the love of "God", KEEP drinking! If you can't enjoy a drink without becoming an alcoholic, that's your problem. Drinking is always fun.

Everybody is Nate S Axel's best friend at a country show. It's impossible not to meet new friends there. I'll always have a drink or two with anybody that makes it to Vegas.

That's where I get lost. Country doesn't need me to have its back, but the moment somebody says it all sounds the same, there's nothing to discuss. I don't listen to much of Sludge's genre anymore, but I'd still never say iT aLL sOuNdz tHe SaMe.

Plenty of bands stood out from the shit that killed hair metal. I still put in the effort to find something that I like, and I'm happy that I'll always enjoy new music and can still get obsessed over a new song for days at a time -- as well as having the ability to get why people like it, even if I don't. There are over 100 million songs on Apple Music and Spotify. I'm pretty sure everybody can find something they like within a few clicks, country or not.

If you're not interested in new country, that's fine, but there are plenty of artists coming out that even have that classic sound you'd probably dig. It's not all "bro country" clones. I've named them before; you can find them if you're interested in something that doesn't blow chunks, but I don't think you want to.

He's a great songwriter (16 #1's), but HARDY is far from the best "modern country" has to offer, even though The Mockingbird & the Crow was a hell of an album. I've always thought a band that dressed like literal fucking clowns sucked and there was nothing "cool" about KISS at any age, but it still wouldn't deter me from finding something better that rock had to offer, and there are even a few KISS songs that I liked. Glad people finally realize KISS sucks though!

But I don't listen to country to be cool. I've always been a city boy, a place most country fans want to be far away from. There are tons of songs about stereotypes of chicks, beer, and trucks, but there's plenty more about ordinary life, relationships, family, friends, hard work... and having FUN.

Who can't relate to that? Chart domination aside, I'll take country from here on out.

Nah, I just don’t care for any country music post-‘92 regardless of how it sounds with the exception of maybe one or two songs. My taste in country music is extremely limited to begin with, and even then the songs I do enjoy like “Elvira”, “Hello Darlin’”, early 80’s Kenny and Dolly, Johnny Cash, “Coal Miner’s Daughter”, “Stand By Your Man”, “Jolene”, etc. are more goofy fun to me than awe-inspiring. I’ve always preferred rock, metal, pop, R&B, rap/hip-hop, and other genres over country. Just my personal preference.

One of those things in the OP is not like the other.

George Jones isn't 2025 country, and the bro country types aren't even in the same league as he was, but I digress.

Classic country: Jones, Haggard, Jennings, Nelson (who is still out there doing it at 92), Hank, even groups like Alabama, or duos like Twitty/Lynn, Jones/Wynette, Wagoner/Parton...thats all great stuff. That being said, today's Nu/Bro country shows are fun, even if just for the eye candy.
*I kinda want a new screenname. Seriously. I barely watch racing anymore. :x

New music sucks. I stopped listening to new things after 2005. Plenty of old music left to discover out there. I'm getting into jazz these days.
