Just how is he "supported?" There's no money going to Ray Gillen. (And for these, I might also guess none going to Jake E. Lee).Tommy2Tone84 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 6:05 am Way to go Brasil. Way to support HIV spreading rapists.

Daily reminder that Ray Gillin did not sleep with fans and give them aids, and then the AIDs-riddled victims *secretly* sued Atlantic Records, who then *secretly* blocked all future re-releases of a band no one cared about.
That shit is a conspiracy theory from Eddie Trunk. Not one shred of evidence any of that ever happened.

No evidence doesn't mean it didn't happen. Much less successful bands have gotten several reissues. I assume no one has ever officially come forth with this because they do not wish to tarnish a dead man's name out of respect for his family.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 7:23 am Daily reminder that Ray Gillin did not sleep with fans and give them aids, and then the AIDs-riddled victims *secretly* sued Atlantic Records, who then *secretly* blocked all future re-releases of a band no one cared about.

Court records are public - if it did happen, someone would have pulled the documents years ago.SchenkerFan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 7:32 amNo evidence doesn't mean it didn't happen. Yep. I’ve heard the story from several people and I believe most of the things I have heard have a significant amount of truth. Otherwise, why would there be more or less a ban on Atlantic even issuing a license for the records.

Again - if it was true, the court records would have been easily obtained by now. They haven't been because they don't exist - no one sued Atlantic because Ray Gillin gave them AIDs. Didn't happen.Bob Sacamano wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 8:38 amSchenkerFan wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 7:32 amNo evidence doesn't mean it didn't happen. Out of court settlements can absolutely remain sealed.

Re: Badlands - Brazil "reissues"
An out of court settlement with no lawsuit filed against Atlantic Records due to the recreational behavior of a guy in one of their former acts? An act that flopped? Resulting in deleting Bandlands catalogue *forever* without the bands knowledge? Sounds about as likely as Stevie Nicks and Debby Harry picking me up at Camelback High School every day and fucking me all through junior year.Bob Sacamano wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 6:16 pmFreddyFender wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 10:22 am

and there's equal evidence to support both those claims.

Badlands had a huge falling out with Paul O'Neil from TSO around the time Voodoo Highway came out: he said if they fired him, he'd go to Atlantic and tell them Ray had AIDs. They fired him, he went to Atlantic, and Atlantic cut ties with the band. No support for touring the second album.
It's just as likely Atlantic deleted the Badlands albums based on whatever Paul told them. We don't know.
What we *DO* know is there there was no lawsuit. No victims or their families have ever come forward. Nothing from his bandmates or peers about any of these accusations. No one ever sold the incredibly juicy story "rockstar infects groupies" at the height of the AIDs scare to the press.
Hell of a conspiracy - all these people coming together to protect the reputation of a supposedly evil lowlife like Ray.

Re: Badlands - Brazil "reissues"
You’re correct. It was the deceased, AIDS-riddled victim’s parents who sued and blocked all future re-releases of a band no one cared about.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 7:23 am Daily reminder that Ray Gillin did not sleep with fans and give them aids, and then the AIDs-riddled victims *secretly* sued Atlantic Records, who then *secretly* blocked all future re-releases of a band no one cared about.

Daily reminder:
-last time I checked this place was called “The Gossip Board” so this is the perfect place to talk about sh*T like this
-there are plenty of remastered re-releases of hairbands no one cares about. Examples: Warrant, Motley Crue, Van Hagar, Whitesnake

Allegedly Ray shared needles with his heroin addicted, AIDS infected uncle.

Why would Atlantic delete the two albums simply because Ray had AIDS? That doesn’t make any sense.

Re: Badlands - Brazil "reissues"
Why did so many rockers turn to heroin? Especially in the 80s, when impact and addictiveness were really really really really well-understood? Here's an idea: you cannot become addicted to something you simply do not start.

That makes more sense if Ray was sleeping around with a handful of women fully well knowing that he was infected with the virus but concealing it from them.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 8:58 pmNeither does deleting them because Ray gave someone AIDS.Tommy2Tone84 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 8:24 pm Why would Atlantic delete the two albums simply because Ray had AIDS? My understanding is that Jason Flom at Atlantic hates the band & wants the albums to remain buried.

He hasn't been associated with the label since 2008. I don't think the band is even on his radar.Ozzy Stradlin wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 11:16 pm My understanding is that Jason Flom at Atlantic hates the band & wants the albums to remain buried.

Re: Badlands - Brazil "reissues"
Maybe Ray Gillen's mother has something to do with it. I remember about 15 or maybe 20 years ago I read an interview with Glenn Hughes. It was brought up that his former band Trapeze had reunited in 1994 to do a tribute to Ray Gillen. They performed a set of Badlands songs. The show was recorded. Ray Gillen's mother had put a stop of the show being released. Not sure how much more in depth Glenn can speak about it. I would love to get my hands of a recording of that show.
