The moment_________went to shit as a band?
What instances can you think of where you watched a certain band live or elsewhere where you thought “holy crap this band is headed into a complete tailspin?”

I remember going to a Blockbuster Music store where they would let you listen to any CD before you bought it. I checked out the new Queensrych album Promised Land. That was the moment for Queensryche.

Van Halen at the 1983 US Festival? Seems like it became a DLR show from that point onward despite how GREAT and MASSIVE 1984 is....Dave became a bit more of a joke live....ParaDime77 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 23, 2023 5:19 pm What instances can you think of where you watched a certain band live or elsewhere where you thought “holy crap this band is headed into a complete tailspin?”

2004 Van Hagar reunion. I’d say it was the Staples Center show I saw but I think that was considered the best show of the tour (all things being relative), so I’ll just say the moment was whenever I first saw clips of early portions of the tour.

"Promised Land" sucked.Love_Industry wrote: ↑Sun Dec 24, 2023 1:34 amThey went to shit because of DeGarmo. First his shitty ballads on Promised Land, then the crapfest thst is HITNF.
"Hear In The Now Frontier" sucked even more. It was nothing more than a DeGarmo solo cd. Him singing lead vocals on one of his tracks. WTF?

Promised Land was fucking great. The tour was stellar.
Video game was awful.
Hear in the Now sucked ass. After that, it got even worse!

You just strapped me to a time-travel machine and took me back to the '90s with that sentence.

Countdown was when Megadeth got good as a band.

Warrant - Belly to Belly
I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

Nothing Jani or Warrant did after Dog Eat Dog came close to those first 3 records. Some good songs here and there but nothing touches the original 3 albums.

Well documented, but, Poison's performance at the MTV VMA's in 1991. Watching it live, my 15-year-old self couldn't really comprehend was was going on. I just knew it was 'off' (and a little out-of-step). The tide was changing and things were just never the same. Innocence lost (well, that kind of innocence).
However, all was not lost... despite our heroes being cast out in the cold, they would eventually return every summer thereafter to relive the glory. Just as the previous generations' genres have done.

But they could've kept going as they were... they were huge. They crashed the plane themselves.tommybonham wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 9:13 pm Well documented, but, Poison's performance at the MTV VMA's in 1991. See also: Mötley Crüe. And later Def Leppard. WTF were they and their labels thinking? Dr Feelgood was their biggest album and Flesh & Blood and Adrenalize multiplatinum. They weren't like Kiss or Judas Priest who by the early 90s had failed to go platinum with two albums in a row and felt the pressure to do something different when that harder direction didn't work.Bono Nettencourt wrote: ↑Tue Dec 26, 2023 5:25 amBut they could've kept going as they were... they were huge. When Peter Criss left KISS.
I was just a kid at the time, but KISS were like Superheroes to me.
To have one of the members just up and leave was incredibly sad and shocking.

When Mutt Lange and Phil Collen took over Def Leppard.
Nevermore going on stage shitfaced during the Obsidian Conspiracy tour. There was fan report after report of this unprofessional behavior.
Jesper Stromblad's downward spiral and diminishing role in In Flames in the 2000s.
Metallica. Load. Nuff said.
Anthrax, "I'm the Man." Took decades before people took them seriously again
