Anyway, these discussions are always so tired. People actually think they can estimate how much money someone has based on how successful their music career was.

There are people who were multi-platinum in the 80s who were broke as a joke by 1988. There are people who got a 100k advance for a record that completely bombed in 1987 and have been loaded for the last 30 years. Comeon, people.

That being said, LMAO at people actually questioning Jason Newsted's wealth. I guess people really don't realize how much of a money machine Metallica was, even for the bass player who has writing credits on "only" 3 songs.

But all that money was invested elsewhere. Even if he just bought S&P 500 ETF stock and nothing else, it's multiplied many times over the years.

To me, someone with "FU Money" never HAS to generate cash by working another day in their life. All while doing WHATEVER they want with NO REGARD to how much money that would cost.

That's called "Fuck Me" money: ie you have so much money that can buy yourself out of the consequences of making making stupid decisions, which encourages you to make even dumber decisions. It is an order of magnitude more than "fuck you" money, which is enough to tell your boss "fuck you" if he asks you to do something you don't want to do.

Richie Sambora has "fuck you" money. He literally told Jon "fuck you" and is doing his own thing / isn't starving.

Michael Jackson had "fuck me" money: built Neverland, had a fucking chimp as a friend, bought the bones of the elephant man. So much money he indulged in whatever he wanted, including (according to the courts) diddling little kids, which, needless to say, wasn't good.
