People in bands like Poison when they are not touring

Post by Ale »

I was wondering about the bass player and CC De Ville of Poison. They tour once every 4 years. What do they do with all the free time?
They are not even playing in a bar once in a while. Do they have any other business going on?

I can understand somebody like Tico Torres not doing anything in his mansion in the downtime, and even the Bon Jovi guys may have business meetings and other investments that require their attention. And third-tier musicians like the guys in Queensryche or Stryper or Firehouse are always touring (or Faster Pussycat they are touring bars).

Get high and fat … C.C. has a son in the music business he mentors, he obviously practices a lot, he was the best I’ve ever heard him last tour.

Thought I saw on here or somewhere that Bobby Dall got into real estate. I could be wrong.

Yes. Not just real estate. He owns and has a hand in running an empire made up of many apartment buildings. Commercial blgds etc. from what I read. Rikki is bitter and a keyboard warrior.

Tico has FU money.
I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

No way Tico Torres has FU money if didn't put the "band money" to work. He didn't write a single song and, by all accounts, was an employee all his life. A lot of money, yes. Mansions, cars, travels around the world whenever he likes, yes. But money to never in his life do nothing again an set the children for ever? mmmm.

Cyndi Lauper was right! "Money Changes Everything".

If they have Fuck You Money, they are doing Fuck You Money things like traveling, shopping and trading yachts.

If they are well off, they are probably living a good, modest life. Especially if they have a wife and kids and a house to maintain. That can be a full-time job while not on tour.

If they have no money at all or if they are sitting around getting drunk and/or high every day, they are probably dead by now.

Nobody who played in Bon Jovi for 40+ years has the slightest bit of concern for paying the bills.

And let me ask... what is "your idea" of FU money? I am curious...

To me, someone with "FU Money" never HAS to generate cash by working another day in their life. All while doing WHATEVER they want with NO REGARD to how much money that would cost.

Maybe that's the thing I don't quite get, for me FU money would be never to be bother again. Having 4 or 5 accountants handling everything and picking up the phone to tell somebody to put the private plane ready to go to Dubai in an hour and throwing parties for 1000 people with Cristal for everybody.
Jason Newsted and Tico Torres don't have FU money. They are VERY well off, of course. Taylor Swift, The Rock or Jennifer Lopez have FU money. Don't even talk about Jezz Bezos, etc.

FU money is very dependent on the person. What are their wants and spending level.

Jason Newsted is probably going to have more money than I could ever dream of. But I see myself getting to FU money by the age of 50.

This is 100% pure stupidity... you've obviously been looking at too many Rapper & young Athlete clips on the internet.

No normal person, even rich, or wealthy people don't live like this day to day... not even close!

Anyone with a net worth of more than $10-15M, can live a very comfortable life, and their kids will the same.

FU money used to mean enough money to tell your boss F-ck You I’m out of here.
I have enough to not work again and maintain my current lifestyle. That’s was really it.

Tico has around $20M but internet sources aren’t accurate. Plus 2 divorces. BUT, he started a foundation which is next level $$ and accounting / IRS rules.

If he gave up touring (he’s 71) he wouldn’t have to work another day in his life and guessing could / would fly private.

Since when is Bert not touring? Seems like the Parti Gras 2.0 has been going on forever now. That or it seems like the main thing he's constantly posting about on social media.

Seriously, when did FU money go from "wealthy enough to tell your boss to fuck off" to "you have to have enough money to buy a yacht and torpedo it with a nuclear sub for fun, every single day, while wearing a suit made of $1000 bills that you have to replace weekly".

Anyway, these discussions are always so tired. People actually think they can estimate how much money someone has based on how successful their music career was.

There are people who were multi-platinum in the 80s who were broke as a joke by 1988. There are people who got a 100k advance for a record that completely bombed in 1987 and have been loaded for the last 30 years. Comeon, people.

That being said, LMAO at people actually questioning Jason Newsted's wealth. I guess people really don't realize how much of a money machine Metallica was, even for the bass player who has writing credits on "only" 3 songs.

I'd love to know what his total royalty earnings has been for his writing share on Blackened, My Friend of Misery, and King Nothing.

Live a comfortable life without having to work any more? $2-5 million except in major metro areas like LA. But "FU Money?" That would require a little more. Probably $10-20 million. That's not only a comfortable life but one in NY, LA or SF and perhaps a 2nd home in a beautiful place and ability to jet off just about anywhere at almost drop of a hat.

Any sensible bil / millionaire keeps a close eye in their business interests. There are enough tales of people being ripped off by their accountants, even when those accountants are family. Bill Gates, Spielberg, Dr Dre, Taylor Swift, various Saudi princes, etc could all have your cartoon version of FU money but they made it through business and they want to stay that way. Are they working day job hours? Not every week, but they do still 'work' in as much as they make sure things happen that will continue their wealth.
