I mean, I liked the Fozzy and Stuck Mojo albums he worked on 15-20 years ago, and Rick technically has a writing credit on Enemy, but I have to wonder how much Rick actually did, and how much was he just doing what Rich Ward told him to?

But, clearly, people like him for some reason, so I guess it depends on how you measure legit-ness. Maybe he isn't the greatest musician, but with almost 5 Million subscribers, he's very obviously doing something right.
Maybe you’re thinking of a different person.
No. I already posted his credits. There's nothing there. If there was, I'm sure he would have made sure it was included in the list. Find me a hit.

Again, it doesn't matter, I was trying to give him credit for being successful in spite of that. He may not have been involved with anything overly successful musically, but clearly the success he's had on youtube shows that people want to watch him, and artists want to talk to him, so there has to be something there (although, it could be argued that some artists are talking to him specifically because he has such a large platform, and not necessarily because they want to talk to him, but that's beside the point).

As stated, it all goes back to what does someone mean when they're asking if he's "legit" or not. Are you talking about his musical credentials or his insight and interview credentials?

People, people, people. Beato is totally legit.

Y'all don't realize that there are studios all over the country, and unless you work in L.A. or New York or...I dunno, fucking Nashville or some shit, you can put in an entire career without ever crossing paths with anybody famous.

99% of the studio side of the music biz is people like that~ competent career professionals who get the job done.

Conversely, I have worked with a lot of people in L.A. who have tons of huge credits, but don't have Beato's wealth of technical knowledge, much less his grasp of theory and music. Out here, there are a lot of credits for guys who were in the right time at the right place, who knew the right people and had the right drugs, so they could become second engineers and/or/engineers without really working their way up.

A LOT of the engineers on your favorite records were basically dudes who bluffed their way onto a session for a record that got big, then got more and more gigs because some idiot musician goes: "Gosh, I like the guitar tone on this record...who was the engineer. Let's get THAT guy." when the credited guy was just the producer's coke connection, while the uncredited engineer who worked 24/7 at the studio did the real work.

ALLEGEDLY.

,,,as far as being a music journalist/educator, he is off the charts (no pun intended) which is why huge people are lining up to be interviewed by him. He can actually converse intelligently about you know...music...whereas the last 50 years of music journalism was just creeps like Gerry Miller asking bullshit questions about nothing important on the one side, or hopelessly dorky musician magazine interviewers who want to know a lot of nerdy shit about what picks and strings somebody uses without ever touching on the actual music itself.

I wouldn't consider him a "failed" musician since he's done a ton of stuff and is a teacher of theory, etc. I also NEVER got the idea he is "full of himself" based on any of the videos I've watched (and I've watched a ton). He seems really enthusiastic about music and breaking it down. he's a pretty damn great player since he seems able to play along to just about anything I've seen him showing in his videos.

I seriously do not get the hate AT ALL for this guy. There are a million assholes on YouTube and he just isn't one of them. Most people with this guy's musical talent and knowledge would be up their own asses with their guitar strap so high they'd need a violin chin-rest to play it. Rick isn't that guy at all to me.

Rick Beato's YouTube channel is an absolute goldmine. His interviews are not just informative, but genuinely entertaining. Beato exudes an authentic, humble, and friendly demeanor that instantly puts his guests at ease. This genuine connection shines through during interviews, creating a relaxed and engaging atmosphere where musicians open up and share insightful stories.

Beyond the entertainment factor, Beato's channel is a valuable educational resource. What truly sets Beato apart is his deep understanding of music theory and his ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and accessible way. He seamlessly weaves technical discussions with personal anecdotes, making the interviews both educational and captivating.

I've learned about the creative processes of legendary musicians, the intricacies of musical arrangements, and the evolution of various musical genres.

The question of whether Beato is "legit" is a interesting. While he may not have achieved the same level of fame as the musicians he interviews, his impact on the music community through his youtube is undeniable. In my view, his authenticity, expertise, and dedication to sharing his passion for music undoubtedly qualify him as a legitimate and respected figure in the music world.

It's funny to say that he's never been successful in music when just about every working musician in 2025 would slam their dick/labia in a car door to get half a million views EVERY TIME they drop a video.

That's success in the music business these days. I don't know what year Parashite thinks it is, where he needs Dr. Johnny Fever to spin his HOT TRACK at the top of the hour to be a bigshot.

Okay, I withdraw my comment about "no hits".

HOWEVER, to be fair to me, it was a #1 on the Country chart, not the Hot 100, and NO ONE on this board has heard of fucking Parmalee or that song. :D :D :D :D

Good for him though, as much I joke, I have to respect that.

And I don't care what anyone says, this song is a banger:
