I remember reading in some magazine Slash & Duff being dissatisfied with Adler. They played with Kenny Arnoff and realized what it felt like to be with a “good” drummer.

Funny how even the top of the heap always want to change things.
GNR were the biggest band around and had the sales to
Prove it.
Maybe they didn’t think they were tight enough live. But their type of music is always gonna be looser than Metallica, etc.
People just need to stay in their lane.
Or shut up & sing

Axl had a wildly different vision for the band by the time UYI came around. He was listening to Nine Inch Nails and Ministry and shit.

The reason Slash's Snakepit came to be was that Axl basically didn't want to do anything that sounded like AfD/Lies, but that's pretty much all that Slash writes.
Obviously, someone in the band wasn't (Axl) looking to get an Adler alike, but the general consensus of the fan base would rather someone who played similar to the guy who was a big part of the sound of their 30 million selling debut rather than some with the exact opposite style, feel, and sound.

Snorum sounds like a robotic drum machine which is the complete opposite of Adler.
Adler may have sounded good on Appetite for Studio Tricks but neither him nor the band overall sounded great live in 87-88. I remember Slash saying in an interview (Metal Hammer?) that it was much easier playing live with Fred Coury because he knows what Coury is going to play while Adler speeds up and slows down...

Is he related to Eric Singer by chance?
