The owners are going to receive every concession they're asking from the players. The NFLPA can't even keep their own players from ripping each other on Twitter let alone uniting them all on something as big as this.

Guys like Cromartie have eleven child support payments to make. They'll fold.

No doubt. The only question is how long it'll take. I still don't have much sympathy for ownership. They're gonna get exactly what they want. I just don't have much patience for their "boo hoo, woah is me" bullshit on it.

Heard on the radio that the players will begin to lose money
sometime this summer.
This was news to me, but apparently players are paid every week of the season.
That being said, every player has been paid in full this season, so right now
they won't be hurting for cash.

I can see this lockout lasting all spring and going into the early summer.
The players might be motivated not to "settle" until the early summer.
That will afford them the opportunity to miss OTA's and any other workouts planned by their teams.

I think the checks stop coming in as soon as the lock out takes effect. From a fan perspective, there is a real potential problem for the teams that brought in new coaching staffs. No OTAs and possibly no training camp in a new system? Ouch.

I hadn't been to an NFL game since i was in my early 20s. I'm 44 now. I went to one Patriots exhibition and one regular season game. Tickets are the same price AND you have to pay almost $50 to park? It is fucking amazing.

Goodell stating that the fans want an 18 game season is ludicrous. I haven't talked to one friend of mine that is in favor of that.

If they knocked off two preseason games I may be for it.

Isn't that exactly what they're proposing?

the owners also want a large slice of the pie.
the owners feel the revenue is too much in favor of the players, so now the owners want the players to give up money in exchange for 2 few exhibition games.
but, the cost is that those 2 exhibition games will be turned into 2
regular season games.
FUCK THAT SHIT!!!

if the owners were not so greedy, the current situation would not be reality.
the owners have the $$, they have players who can be released at any time and not be paid the life of the contract.
yet they want more $$ because the owners complain they don't have any $$$.

Peter King wrote a great article on this. The owners are tired of giving players millions that are more invested in outside interests than their jobs. They're paying skill position players CEO money and the players are more concerned about their brands/reality tv shows/twitter than their fucking job. Ala Chad Johnson/T.O.

That's a pretty lame rationalization. This has nothing to do with the players' outside interests.

It has to do with money, but I wouldn't be surprised if outside interests are rubbing owners the wrong way. The reality show thing has gotten pretty over the top the past few years. I can see how that doesn't go over well in the No Fun League.

I heard a pretty good observation of the current situation yesterday:
The reporter basically said he predicts the lockout will happen and will last through August.
Then at the last minute both parties will come to an agreement.
There will be a "training camp" that lasts around 10-14 days and then the season will begin as if nothing ever happened.

I want to personally punch Goodell in the face.
The bastard is lying to the media regarding what the fans want.
There was a poll that said approx 27% of the fans want an 18 game season.
DUH!
What the fans really want is not to be charged "full price" for exhibition games.
Of course Goodell does not have the stones to speak the truth.
Fucking Greedy millionaires that need a beating.
