Nate Diaz looked almost exactly like his brother, but if you ask Goldberg he looks like A. Silva, because he apparently invented dropping the hands. Hughes/Kos went pretty much exactly as I thought it would, neither even bothered with taking it to the ground, and Kos knocked him the fuck out. Hughes' striking looked really good up until he got KOed, though. Jones/Rampage was a worse beatdown than Shogun/Jones, Rampage had nothing to offer him. The one time Rampage actually got a good hit on him, Jones turned into Jessie Owens. It was good to see a LHW champ actually get a non controversial title defense for once.
I thought the same thing about Diaz, although more like a minor league version of his brother. Diaz's opponent couldnt have been better picked to get him back in the win column.
Rampage actually landed something? The first two rounds I thought were good because it appeared that each fighter was sticking to their game plan, and came off like a game of chess. But by the 3rd round it was obvious that Jones was just wearing Jackson down. With every kick & punch that Jones landed, Jackson was heading down hill to defeat without any chance of landing "the shot".
I guess he didn't actually land it, but I was talking about this-
Image[/quote]

Jones is too quick to be hit by round houses.
He is pretty much unbeatable, the way i see it.
If you could get inside with him,i would
utilise the uppercut.Getting inside is pretty
damn hard though.

I think Evans will beat him, I just get the feeling in way Evans has been acting since Jones took the title. Evans knows something that about Jones I am sure. I don't know why, but I'm not a Jones fan, I've pretty much support most of his opponents against him, however, I do love this style. Watching him destroy Shogun was hard, but I feel like Shogun has gone down the road of BJ Penn, and he sort of lack motivation some times. In any case, I don't think Shogun has the tools to beat Jones. Also, did anyone notice that Jones had an 11in reach advantage on Rampage?

Yeah, I saw that as well. I didnt realize it was that large of an advantage until I saw the stats. Once I saw that, I said to myself "he doesnt have a chance". And it was completely obvious during the fight.

The Struve vs Berry fight this weekend should be quite entertaining.
Both are very likeable guys that bring it everytime.

One of them will play true to their nature, so Struve gets violently knocked out, or Pat berry has a massive brain fart with some bad luck thrown in

I can see Pat Barry throwing leg kicks and trying to wing punches at Struve while Struve paws him off. I think Pat Barry's best chance is try to get Struve against the cage. Barry should win this if he can get past those long limbs and land some punches/kicks.

I'm not a grappler or even a fighter of any kind but if I were I wouldn't compete against him, you're goddamn right he seems insane. Palhares plays by his own rules.

During the weigh ins for this weekend's fight, as a joke Pat Berry stayed on the weight scale to be of the same height as Struve during the photo/face off. Struve came over to him & Berry was still 4 or 5 inches shorter. It was a funny moment & both guys had a laugh.

I was looking over the fight card for 136. Is that card stacked or what? All of the ppv fights are top notch.

137 is stacked as well

GSP/Condit
Diaz/Penn
Crocop/Nelson in what might be CC's last match
Hioki/Roop
Kongo/Mitione, Kongo will knock that smug look on Mittrione's face off

Prelims also have Siver/Cerrone, Tyson Griffin/Bart Palaszewski, and Jorgenson/Curran

yeah it is!
Siver vs Cerrone is a Spike tv prelim. right?
Geez, it should be on the main card instead of Crocop vs Nelson.

That's pretty good there, buddy. Pal-hares, Paul Harris...yeah it does sound similar.
Even though it sounds completely different when pronounced in his native language, I found what you did there pretty funny.

As far as relevance, yeah I agree with you, but Mirko is still a bigger draw. I'll skip his fight though, can't see him getting knocked out anymore.

Just watched the Versus fights, the Johnson Brenneman fight was stopped early, but I didn't see Brennaman coming back at all. Barry vs. Struve was a good fight, I hate that the crowd shit on it and the ref kept telling them to push the pace , they have to adjust for a whole foot in height differential, of course they are going to size each other up first! Cruz gets shit on for not finishing fights, but I much prefer his style to the GSP decision or the Jon Fitch decision. If him and Frankie Edgar keep winning, they should have a catchweight fight at 145, considering Cruz is huge for his division, and Edgar only cuts like 5 pounds for the fight, and they have very similar styles.

Also, I really hope they don't cut Barry. It's a shame he doesn't work on his ground game more, he'd be a killer.

Here's some vids of Struve and Barry "training" for the fights

If Mark Hunt can stay in the UFC with a 7-7 MMA record, Barry should too. The HW division is too thin to be cutting people for 3 loss streaks. Actually, have Hunt and Barry fight in a loser leaves UFC match.

Barry lost his last two fights, Hunt won his last two.
But yeah I do want them to keep Pat Barry, win or lose he comes to fight.

I thought it was a good night of fights, and I give Cruz major props. More on that later.
Yeah, the Brenneman fight was stopped early, but it would've gone only another 30 seconds or so. Brenneman was completely outclassed in this fight.
Struve needs to fight all of his fights like he did against Berry. Anytime he tries to outpunch his opponent, he always gets knocked out. He needs to be cautious & patient. With his size and length, he could make some noise in the heavyweight division. He may never win a championship, but he is fun to watch. Berry wont get cut from the UFC.
I give Cruz a major thumbs up. During the first round and a half he had this look in his eyes like "what the f". He seemed like he was gassed as well. Not only did he have to adjust his game, but he had to stay aggressive as well. Interesting as the fight went along, you could see the tide change towards Cruz winning the decesion. Now Mighty Mouse has to go to the back of the line in getting another title shot.
I have no interest in a Cruz vs Faber rematch.
Cruz vs Edgar- I dont know about that. They have similiar styles that might cancel each other out. But on the other hand, who is there for Cruz to fight?

Although I gave Cruz a major thumbs up, I would never pay for a ppv with him as the headliner. He's good, but not very exciting to watch.

I thought the Danzig V Wiman fight was pretty competive and fun to watch as well. Cruz V Johnson, if there isn't someone as good as Johnson let those two fight again, that was fun to watch.

Yeah, right. cough cough

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/10/3/24 ... get-out-of

Rashad to move to Imperial Athletics in Florida. The two were supposed to meet at UFC 133, but Jones suffered a thumb injury and couldn't take the fight. Now Evans thinks he might come up with another convenient injury to avoid facing him again (via Pro MMA Radio):

"I just want to fight this dude bad. Jon knows what I can do to him. Do you think that Jon pulled out of the first fight because he was confident? No! He was afraid, and watch him try to pull out of this fight too. Watch him be like 'Oh my foot is hurt' or something like that to try and get out of this fight to try and make me fight somebody else. When it comes down to it, the kid, he doesn’t want it."

Jones was suspended for 180 days by the Colorado Athletic Commission after UFC 135, but Dana White recently stated that Jones suffered no significant injuries and just had a sore calf, which leads to believe that he would be released from his suspension early. He also said that he'd like to give both fighters "some time to rest and a little break", so it's unlikely we're going to see this bout in the next few months. Still though, Rashad appears to be in promotion mode already. Jones said in his UFC 135 post-fight interview that he wasn't going to do much talking in the leadup to this bout, but we'll have to see if that is actually true or not. The first shot has been fired.

Dana just confirmed via twitter that because of Rashad's hand injury, Bones will fight Lyoto Machida at ufc 140, which makes yet another completely stacked card, so we'll get outstanding top to bottom cards (except 138, which is free and has a ME that is almost guaranteed to be a slugfest, so who care?)

140-
Main event- Bones vs. Dragon
Co-main- Big Nog vs Mir
Undercard-
Lil nog vs. Tito
Mark Hominick vs. Korean Zombie
Rory Macdonald vs. Brian Ebersole

From top to bottom a great night of fights that had EVERYTHING!
Boy, was I wrong about the Guillard fight. It was great to see him
taken out like that, and it happened so quick.
More to say, but always interested what you guys have to say.
