Being a pain in the ass is one thing. Being a filthy bitch is another. One of the reasons I never had any respect for Claude Lemieux or Burrows. Same level of shitface.

How Brian Burke and his cronies keep their jobs is beyond me. He's done NOTHING since the lockout, and the Leafs are no closer to making the playoffs then they were 4-5 years ago. Is the future really Kessel, Kadri, Gardiner, and Reimer?

Like I said. Down year for the Habs, but they at least have the tools to put it together.

Maybe Burke will trade his next two first rounders for Alex Semin, or someone, in the off-season.

I still shake my head: Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton, and a 2nd rounder, for Kessel. A trade with a division rival no less...
Burke is a local boy and we thank him dearly. He's an awesome guy, but this has been a disaster. Don't forget about Knight in the Kessel deal. They better close the bridges in Toronto when him and Hamilton debut for the B's next year.

http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/hockey ... t-coliseum

By Katie Strang

Apparently the Coliseum isn't just a dump. It's dangerous, too.

According to a report by NBC New York, state inspectors are investigating a claim that the Nassau Coliseum has a dangerous asbestos problem.

The investigation began after numerous complaints from Coliseum workers, who fear the working conditions pose a serious threat to their safety.

The Islanders, whose lease with the Coliseum lasts until 2015, are requesting a full investigation.

"The Islanders expect that the building owner, Nassau county and the building facility manager, SMG, will review the allegations and take any and all appropriate action. The safety of our fans, players and employees is paramount," Islanders senior vice-president, Michael Picker said.

Quebec City, anyone?

Not surprising, but still somewhat convenient for Wang.

They do have a great uniform.

5. Blackhawks
4. Maple Leafs
3. Rangers (Yeah, I hate to say it, those shorts are cool. They look like a different fabric than what they are.)
2. islanders.. the one they have had the last two years is amazing, and much like their original ones.
1. The Green Wild uniform with the off white lettering is the shit.

You guys?

You can't beat the classics. Habs, B's, Leafs, Wings, Hawks, and Rangers are all great. I put those in a category of their own. Some current faves of mine:

1.) Blues 3rd uniform - darker blue with the arch in the crest
2.) Sens 3rd uniform - a nod to the original Senators, back in the day
3.) Pens 3rd uniform - like the powder blue from a few years ago, as well as the current blue
4.) Flyers - any time they wear orange - it's just right
5.) Sabres - any time they wear their classic logo

Honorable mention: Wild 3rd uni, Sharks black uni, Canucks, also the Bolts' new dark unis have grown on me

The pumpkins are hideous. I can see except for the classics, we disagree greatly.

edited because I see you mentioned the Wild. That 3rd jersey looks more classic than the classics. I like the Bolts new ones too. At least it's a huge improvement.

I pretty much hate all black unis and those Isles 3rd are the worst of all. Wang should be shot for approving that trash.

I'm okay with orange, just not a fan of Black and Orange together. I think it has a lot to with the fact I hate the San Fran Giants. I mean, I hate the Flyers, but I still cheered for them to do well when they had Roenick. I wouldn't care if my mom was a Giant, I would hate her too.

Don't get me wrong, I love The Flyers and that color is tradition, so i'd actually be really pissed if they ever got rid of it.

Edited to add: I always hated that Eagles Kelly Green too, and I was actually thrilled when they went to that darker midnight green a few years ago.

Canadiens' GM Gauthier relieved of duties
Thursday, 03.29.2012 / 10:35 AM / News - By Adam Kimelman - NHL.com Deputy Managing Editor

The Montreal Canadiens on Thursday fired General Manager Pierre Gauthier. No replacement was named.

Canadiens President Geoff Molson will hold a press conference at 11:45 a.m. to discuss the move.

The Canadiens have won just two of their last eight games (2-2-4), and enter Thursday's games 15th in the Eastern Conference and 28th in the League.

Gauthier had held his current position since Feb. 8, 2010, when he replaced Bob Gainey. The Canadiens finished eighth in the Eastern Conference that season, but led by goalie Jaroslav Halak, they upset the Presidents' Trophy-winning Washington Capitals and defending Stanley Cup-champion Pittsburgh Penguins to advance to the conference finals, where they lost in five games to the Philadelphia Flyers .

Last season, the Canadiens finished sixth in the East with 96 points, and after taking a 2-0 first-round lead on the Boston Bruins , fell in seven games to the eventual Stanley Cup champions.

This season, however, things slipped early. When the team won just once in its first eight games, Gauthier responded by firing assistant coach Perry Pearn hours before an Oct. 27 game against the Philadelphia Flyers . That sparked a four-game win streak, but it didn't last.

Gauthier fired coach Jacques Martin prior to a Dec. 17 game against the New Jersey Devils , replacing him on an interim basis with assistant coach Randy Cunneyworth. However, that decision sparked controversy as Cunneyworth spoke no French.

The team also failed to respond to Cunneyworth's coaching, going 16-22-7, and they officially were eliminated from playoff contention following Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers .

Gauthier joined the Canadiens in July 2003 when he was named director of professional scouting. In 2006 he was named assistant general manager.

Prior to working for the Canadiens, Gauthier was an assistant GM of the Anaheim Ducks and the first GM of the Ottawa Senators (1995-98). He also served as GM of the Ducks from 1998-2002.

Personally, I think the Leafs need to take a page from the Canadiens "book" and start reorganizing - from the top down. Getting rid of Wilson was a parallel move at best, you can't polish a turd, and the Leafs are quite "turdy."
Something has to be done. For the wealthiest team in the NHL to not make the playoffs 8 years running, is pretty unacceptable.

Great day in Habs land. They have some young talent, they have draft choices, they have a few good veterans, and with the right management around - to trim the dead weight - they will be fine. Savard is a good man to lead the search, and bring back the Stanley Cup or bust attitude. Not a "let's make the playoffs" attitude. Bravo Mr. Molson.

The playoff futility in Toronto is an ongoing thing and even worse this year seeing as they started strong and then had a collapse of epic proportions. Montreal had a bad season, but last year were one overtime goal away from eliminating the eventual Stanley Cup champs, and they have a great foundation to rebuild. They've just fired a big fucking problem in Gauthier and hopefully they hire the best guy for the job, not just a Habs legend or because he can speak french well.
Cheers!

Habs will be back in the playoffs next year.

Price

Subban
Gorges
Emelin
Markov (healthy)
Kaberle (in shape)
Tinordi and Beaulieu coming

That's a nice back end to build around

They're two acquisitions away, up front, to being a good team...

Yeah, there's a whole lot of what ifs in that playoff scenario.Factor in too that Subban(until the last month) was regressing, not progressing as a d-man.His attitude has rubbed coaches wrong as well.

Tinordi? -worst WJC performance I can recall.

The East has a pile of teams that are better than the Habs, who'd at best would be fighting for a 6,7 or 8 seed. The Devils,Sens,Sabres/Capitals will be tough to climb over.

I know better than to say never.A lot of things can happen over the off season, but IMO this squad has a lot more to overcome to be a playoff squad.

I don't understand the Subpan love. Lots of talent, but horrible attitude, and way too big to be that soft.
