Worth it. Wish he hadn't done it, but worth it.pieceofme wrote:Duncan Ketih suspended for 5 games.
Burke is a local boy and we thank him dearly. He's an awesome guy, but this has been a disaster. Don't forget about Knight in the Kessel deal. They better close the bridges in Toronto when him and Hamilton debut for the B's next year.WOLF wrote:How Brian Burke and his cronies keep their jobs is beyond me. Like I said. Down year for the Habs, but they at least have the tools to put it together.
Maybe Burke will trade his next two first rounders for Alex Semin, or someone, in the off-season.
I still shake my head: Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton, and a 2nd rounder, for Kessel. A trade with a division rival no less...

You can't beat the classics. Habs, B's, Leafs, Wings, Hawks, and Rangers are all great. I put those in a category of their own. Some current faves of mine:NeverSurrender wrote:They do have a great uniform.
5. Blackhawks
4. Maple Leafs
3. Rangers (Yeah, I hate to say it, those shorts are cool. They look like a different fabric than what they are.)
2. islanders.. the one they have had the last two years is amazing, and much like their original ones.
1. The Green Wild uniform with the off white lettering is the shit.
You guys?
I'm okay with orange, just not a fan of Black and Orange together. I think it has a lot to with the fact I hate the San Fran Giants. I mean, I hate the Flyers, but I still cheered for them to do well when they had Roenick. I wouldn't care if my mom was a Giant, I would hate her too.John Simon Ritchie wrote:^ Damn, I'm a lifelong Flyers fan and even I loathe that Orange.

Great day in Habs land. They have some young talent, they have draft choices, they have a few good veterans, and with the right management around - to trim the dead weight - they will be fine. Savard is a good man to lead the search, and bring back the Stanley Cup or bust attitude. Not a "let's make the playoffs" attitude. Bravo Mr. Molson.krazeebaybee wrote:http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=6247 ... NHL%7Chome
Canadiens' GM Gauthier relieved of duties
Thursday, 03.29.2012 / 10:35 AM / News - By Adam Kimelman - NHL.com Deputy Managing Editor
The Montreal Canadiens on Thursday fired General Manager Pierre Gauthier. No replacement was named.
Canadiens President Geoff Molson will hold a press conference at 11:45 a.m. to discuss the move.
The Canadiens have won just two of their last eight games (2-2-4), and enter Thursday's games 15th in the Eastern Conference and 28th in the League.
Gauthier had held his current position since Feb. 8, 2010, when he replaced Bob Gainey. The Canadiens finished eighth in the Eastern Conference that season, but led by goalie Jaroslav Halak, they upset the Presidents' Trophy-winning Washington Capitals and defending Stanley Cup-champion Pittsburgh Penguins to advance to the conference finals, where they lost in five games to the Philadelphia Flyers .
Last season, the Canadiens finished sixth in the East with 96 points, and after taking a 2-0 first-round lead on the Boston Bruins , fell in seven games to the eventual Stanley Cup champions.
This season, however, things slipped early. When the team won just once in its first eight games, Gauthier responded by firing assistant coach Perry Pearn hours before an Oct. 27 game against the Philadelphia Flyers . That sparked a four-game win streak, but it didn't last.
Gauthier fired coach Jacques Martin prior to a Dec. 17 game against the New Jersey Devils , replacing him on an interim basis with assistant coach Randy Cunneyworth. However, that decision sparked controversy as Cunneyworth spoke no French.
The team also failed to respond to Cunneyworth's coaching, going 16-22-7, and they officially were eliminated from playoff contention following Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers .
Gauthier joined the Canadiens in July 2003 when he was named director of professional scouting. In 2006 he was named assistant general manager.
Prior to working for the Canadiens, Gauthier was an assistant GM of the Anaheim Ducks and the first GM of the Ottawa Senators (1995-98). He also served as GM of the Ducks from 1998-2002.
Personally, I think the Leafs need to take a page from the Canadiens "book" and start reorganizing - from the top down. Getting rid of Wilson was a parallel move at best, you can't polish a turd, and the Leafs are quite "turdy."
Something has to be done. For the wealthiest team in the NHL to not make the playoffs 8 years running, is pretty unacceptable.
I'm going to guess you guys are taking the piss cause you must have see the very last jersey.futonsrf wrote:

markov is one shift away from another injury. he's the sami salo of the eastern conference.WOLF wrote:Habs will be back in the playoffs next year.
Price
Subban
Gorges
Emelin
Markov (healthy)
Kaberle (in shape)
Tinordi and Beaulieu coming
That's a nice back end to build around
They're two acquisitions away, up front, to being a good team...
Yeah, there's a whole lot of what ifs in that playoff scenario.Factor in too that Subban(until the last month) was regressing, not progressing as a d-man.His attitude has rubbed coaches wrong as well.Kid-Wicked wrote:markov is one shift away from another injury. he's the sami salo of the eastern conference.WOLF wrote:Habs will be back in the playoffs next year.
