One HOF voter refused to vote for Maddux.
WTF!!!!
The voter should have his credentials burned and he should be banned from MLB for life
Greg Maddux won't be a unanimous selection for the Hall of Fame.
Ken Gurnick of MLB.com, a former reporter for the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, says the only player he voted for was pitcher Jack Morris. Morris is on the Baseball Writers' Association of America ballot for the 15th and final time after falling 42 votes shy last year.
Greg Maddux, a 355-game winner who claimed four Cy Young Awards during his brilliant career, won't be a unanimous selection to the Hall of Fame.
Gurnick said Tuesday that he excluded "everybody from the Steroid Era."
"I just don't know who did and who didn't," Gurnick said, adding: "Some people quibble over when the era starts, but the bulk of his career was in my opinion well before all of the widespread use of performance-enhancing drugs."
Jack Morris, semi decent mlb pitcher that pitched a ( meaning ONE ) really good game in his career. I've been looking forward to Ken Griffey Jr.'s HOF induction for some time now. I've been planning to make the trek to Cooperstown for it, meaning it's already set.
If Morris' semi decent ass gets in I will officially boycott the Hall ( not that it matters ). Seriously though there is discussion of a movement/boycott against the Hall if he gets in. People are pissed about the lack of integrity.
Actually if Morris gets in then I should get in. Think about it. I started this thread on Sludge which has run for a while now and been posted on by at least 5 different people. That accomplishment is on par with his eligibility and since induction is as meaningless as a plaque in Monument Park. I should get in.
*edit*
No player has been inducted with 100% before. Think about that. Take your time. Not Ruth, Cobb, Young, Mays, Henderson, Aaron, Williams, etc.
Seriously.
The snub on Piazza is the same that Biggio is experiencing. "We highly suspect you partook in the Selig-era, although we don't have proof." I think it's bullshit personally.Machado wrote:Morris is a putz and needs to stay out of the HOF.killeverything wrote:*shakes head*Machado wrote:It's starting.

Seriously.
Let's talk about 1 player that is certainly deserving.
Mike Piazza. Or has he been connected to the PED scandal from his era?
Piazza was described as the best hitting Catcher of all time.
We know his defense was among the worst, but what else is new.
Piazza deserves to get in.

fuck you Jack Morris.
I don't think Biggio was a first ballot guy, but he does deserve induction eventually. Remember Dimaggio didn't get in till his 4th time.Machado wrote:killeverything wrote:BOOM

I can live with those 3 inductions.
They all deserve to be inducted ahead of Biggio.
I think he along with Edgar have a chance to eventually get inducted. The problem is the 10 person limit. With some of the newly eligible players coming up it's easy to understand how some have been overlooked. Of course there's posthumously electing guys like Ron fucking Santos who should be with Morris, but I think he can still get inducted.WOLF wrote:Tim Raines needs to be in!

Nah it's not Montreal that's effecting his canidacy, he was on the MFY 96-98 so he's been in the spotlight. He deserves induction for his style of play on the basepaths and it's contributions, unfortunately he falls below the 3,000/400 mark so it's going to take a saber campaign ( not unlike Jim Rice's ) to build him some momentum.Machado wrote:Tim Raines should already be in the HOFWOLF wrote:Tim Raines needs to be in!
In the 80's the guy was one of the best in the game. And he played
at a high level for many years.
He might be a victim of playing in Montreal and that he played almost
20 years ago.
He was a role player on Yankees. Has between 250-350 at bats per season.killeverything wrote:Nah it's not Montreal that's effecting his canidacy, he was on the MFY 96-98 so he's been in the spotlight. Yeah, I read that. Arod's out of pocket lawyer fees are insane so they started discussions yesterday. He shouldn't accept anything more than 50 games. The standard the MLBPA agreed on.Machado wrote:Yankees beat writers are reporting negotiations are in full force between ARod's team of lawyers and MLB, in an effort to have 211 game penalty reduced to less than 100 games

I'm thinking pretty slim. There is no doubt what Arod did is fucked. He tried to buy/destroy evidence of his juicing asnd did all he could to hinder the investigation. The reason why I don't believe he'll fess up like he did in 2007 ( ? ) is his attorney fees are likely to break 8 figures, and cost more than it would to accept a shorter ban.Machado wrote:killeverything wrote:Yeah, I read that. 50 game should have been the punishment all along.
Arod knew that. MLB knew that but MLB wanted to throw their weight around and hopefully those actions come back to bite them in the media.
Will be interesting to see if ARod ever does admit to any wrongdoing in this case.
What are the odds ARod will make a statement and actually admit what he did and why he deserves the 50 game ban???

Tony Bosch is sleazy and can't be trusted. The fact that MLB has put their trust in him proves the entire case was a witchunt. The directive to "get" ARod was all they cared about.
Cheating in baseball did not begin only 20 years ago. Cheating in baseball has been a tradition that goes back to when the game was invented.
Players like Frank Thomas have not stopped talking about how he played the game clean and that any "suspected" users should not be allowed in the HOF.
I guess they forget to mention or have no educated themselves that the current HOF inductees did cheat. Why was it good enough for them?
Oh yeah, because Thomas did not play in that same era.
No failed tests. Does that say more about MLB drug testing policy or
the drugs the accused players are taking?
The entire system is flawed.
From Bud Selig all the way down to the players who sell the tickets and the swag at the merch booths.
If only the media would expose MLB for the fraud they were and currently are. The number of skeletons in the closet would make for a great story.
Don't you think???

Kinda funny how they have text messages from Arod *confirmed. Emails from Arod *confirmed.
Arod has failed a test. He failed in 2009, but he's didn't do it this time? Get the fuck outta here. If he was soooo innocent then why would he be willing to accept a shorter suspension? Think about that.
MLB: You did nothing wrong, but we're gonna punish you anyway. Is that cool?
Arod: A light punishment because I'm actually innocent? That'll be fine.
Goddamn you're dumb.

So because people were taking speed and coke in the 60s and 70s it excuses PEDs in the 90s and beyond? Fuck that, total weak sauce excuse. Completely expected from Machado though.
Arod wouldn't testify either. You know why? Because he would perjure himself. Do you know how that works? He would be under oath and have to lie.Machado wrote:Fuck off.WhiteHouseSubsAC wrote:Machado is off his gorge.

Bud Selig pussed out by not testifying against the accused(ARod).
So why does Bud get a pass? Because he didn't take a PED.
He did not but he certainly was aware that PED's were in use in the 90's and he turned a blind eye. For the $$$$$
20 years later, a few years before he retires, Bud is on a mission to clean up the game.
Yet those 10+ players in the BioGenesis case all DID NOT fail a drug test.
How is that cleaning up of the game working out for Bud?
Bonds and Clemens beat the Feds.
Emphasis turns to ARod & MLB went to any lengths to make sure they took him down and hard.
No we're getting somewhere(hopefully). Long overdue for the evidence to be made public. Enough talk about not being able to release the evidence, hiding behind this ruling and that agreement, etc....killeverything wrote:Arod wouldn't testify either. You know why? When an independent source looks at the evidence against and decides your guilty you are. Arod is so innocent the MLBPA no longer represents him. A fucking union cut ties with him. Damn.
What's awesome is Arod vowing to continue the fight means that all the evidence will be made public.
*Breaking news* Arod will sue MLB and the Players Union to overturn his 162 game suspension.
Shit just got real and it's gonna get good. I can't wait for his shitty organization to be drug through the mud too.
They have to. Court records except in the case of National Security are public. Unless that changed when GW overturned the Freedom Of Information Act.Machado wrote: No we're getting somewhere(hopefully). Long overdue for the evidence to be made public. Didn't think the shit could get any better but maybe with ARod decision to sue today, we are one step closer to getting the information.
