just watched "Murder on the Orient Express". the 1974 version. It was pretty good. I had a few problems understanding the Overexaggerated accent of Hercule Poirot but it was good. 8 out of 10.

Joe is currently playing on Tubi. And it's a great film.keyofgee wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 4:32 amgot to find it and check it out. thanks for the tipSleek wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 12:31 amPeter Boyle had a big hit in 1970 with a movie called JOE, where he was a tough guy who said a lot of shit like that. It's kinda depressing now, because it was taken seriously by a certain percentage of the population and the character a hero, even though he was meant to be an unsympathetic fucktard.keyofgee wrote: ↑Sat Jul 05, 2025 4:55 pm Just watched “Taxi Driver” for the first time. For its time, it was shocking, but pretty funny now watching peter boyle being tough and talking about “gay guys” giving each other head knowing he was later in young frankenstien” and everyone loves raymond.
Jody foster being 12 and playing a prostitute was rough to watch, especially undoing the guys belt ..should have gotten an older actress.. prolly what turned her out,, but for a classic, it was ok for the time
It's also depressing because a lot of the shit he says still comes out of right-wing mouths now, 55 year later.

Superman (2025) 9/10.
Absolutely loved it. Not really sure how it could have been more fun. This movie walked absolutely no lines. It was 100% comic cook movie and went all in on fantastical shit. But as long as you’re willing to go with it, it’s a fucking great movie. Perfect casting, perfect tone. I’m a big Superman fan and Gunn nailed it.

Rites of Passage (2012) - watched on Tubi.
Pretty bad. the characters and their motivations mostly made no sense and the movie had some good ideas that were either poorly executed or barely there.

I watched Sinners last night. I liked it, but didn't love it.
I kinda wish it didn't turn into a horror film. I enjoyed everything up to there...after that it was just From Dusk 'til Dawn part 2. The stuff in the cotton fields and sharecropper slums was just beautiful.
Would have rather just seen the story of the two brothers coming down from Chicago to start a club and discovering a young blues prodigy.

That's an excellent observation and one I share. I went into Sinners thinking it was going to be a story about Robert Johnson. It kinda started that way, then wound up something completely different.Sleek wrote: ↑Mon Jul 21, 2025 3:26 pm I watched Sinners last night. I liked it, but didn't love it.

Which is a great thing. Although I would love to see a proper version of Johnson's life sometime in my life time.
The film's real strength imo are the characters, as every single one of them was completely fleshed out, and contributed something valuable to the film.
Would have been nice to see Annie as a vampire and it was a shame she didn't quite make it . . .
Great movie I just watched again on BluRay 10/10.
