I agree to an extent. I mean very few wrestlers now a days have that "it" factor like so many guys in the 80s had like Hulk, Macho, Warrior, Flair, Sting, Luger, Sid, etc. I was never sold on Orton and I really never found his mic work or ring work anything special, but compared to how many bums there are now a days, he does stand out, but still that's not saying much. No one in wrestling is natural anymore, like with Orton every promo he does you can tell he's "acting", all the guys I listed above never seemed like they were "acting" when they were out there. I'm a casual fan, but man wrestling blows overall now a days.
The problem with WWE is making their top guy John Cena, and all the other top guys are past 40yrs old who all had their primes more than 10 years ago.
And then we have Batista.

Need I say more?

I'd quit watching for good. RVD is possibly the most overrated guy of the past 15 years or so. Same spots every match, promos that make Jeff Hardy look like Dusty Rhodes, and maybe the worst worked punches of anyone I've ever seen. No thanks. The only thing he's ever done that I cared for was the Jerry Lynn feud back in the day. I never have understood why he has so many nutswingers outside of the whole "Heh heh, he smokes weed! Awesome!" set.

Now you are definitely high on cat piss.

Who would you book over him? I really need a few laughs.

So RVD smokes weed. Yeah???
At least 90% (or a higher %) of every pro wrestler has and does, daily.
Even during this WWE Wellness shit. ...and don't fool yourself, I bet almost every Indy worker does.

Heyman used it as an angle/catchphase/building block. It sold merch.
That's bad, why??
Everyone else who books is fucking scared to book angles like that.
Even the JAPW booking of The Grim Reefer isn't in your face, entertaining or blantantly law-breaking as RVD's catchphrases were. They are fucking scared of public pressure and fucking scared of offending the parents of metch buying little kids. Even JAPW is with their kiddie shows. Tons of blood, tons of weapons, tons of foul language, tons of extreme wiolence, but don't make anyone really think The Grim Reefer may actually smoke weed. Who else has done that? Or dared to?

You mention RVD on the mic. Blame the WWE you obviously nutswing from
for that.

He cut great promos in ECW, he also had Fonzie to babble for him when necessary. ECW cut great promos, but if you turned the sound down.... RVD and the rest of the locker room put on The Best Mat Show on Earth.
Sabu didn't fucking speak at all and yes.... somehow he changed the fucking entire world of pro wrestling.
Speaking scripted stupidity written by a cunt-led creative team and promos are only necessary if you suck Vince's balls when HHH is on break.
If your wrestlers wrestling can sell PPVs without stupid storylines and completely boring promos like HHH, Orton and the Undertaker delivery, you
don't need stupid promos

10000s of GREAT Japanese workers don't cut sports entertainment promos and... yes... they are THE best on the planet at working.

RVD had a lot of fueds beyond his work with Jerry Lynn, but since you hate RVD, i'm sure you never looked at his workrates objectively.

No,WWE might blow but if you like wrestling check out Ring of Honor or JAPW. There is some good stuff going on,you just gotta dig a little.

Anyone know how many times Matt and Jeff fought back in 02/03, I think. Wasn't it just like one PPV match? I really like this heel Matt Hardy though him teaming with Edge is a bit much given the history between them.
Matt and Jeff wrestled once I think. I remember it was really hyped up because everyone thought they were going to do their usual match but then they decided to not do any high flying and instead wrestled a normal match. People were rather pissed.

The problem with the WWE nowadays is that Vince doesn't want people going out there and doing what they want anymore. It's totally by the script now. Whereas the people us older fans grew up on were just playing up on their personalities or largely improvising, nowadays it's just "Go out there and go by script". It makes the product suffer.

And when IS Wrestlemania anyways? The card looks dire.

Take it for what it's worth... heard this rumor:

JBL's been promising some sort of angle where he says it will change WWE forever. Apparently the angle will be that he is going to do a hostile takeover of WWE through stocks.

The guy who told me this is normally pretty good with this stuff so we'll see what happens.

That sounds appealing. You know,I didn't give JBL much of a chance when he became a single wrestler after the APA.Well,he prove me wrong.

this actually sounds like a good gimmick... naturally stephanie and her braintrust and HHH will fuck it up.
Maybe when JBL takes over the WWE,he can make Vince kiss his ass!

Forgive me, I'll check with you next time before I have an opinion about someone you are so clearly have a crush on. . I watched RVD in ECW and WWE. He never impressed me. He's a spot-monkey, plain and simple, which is fine, but his spots have been done to death by this point. He's not the worst worker ever, just highly overrated by ECW nutswingers such as yourself. As for me being a WWE nutswinger, thanks for giving me a good laugh.

Are you responding to your own quote? Because if you're referring to me, I'm a little hard-pressed to understand how not liking RVD equates to liking John Cena. As much as I don't like RVD, I'd rather see him headline Wrestlemania for the next five years than watch another Cena vs Everyone (w/The Odds Stacked Against Him) match.

Wow, Kizarny got a fair shot didn't he?

And is anyone else predicting that WM25 is going to flop hard? I mean between a weak economy and arguably the worst card in WM history, I think it's a strong possibility.

It flopped hard every year this decade apart from Hogan VS Rock IMO.

Yeah, Wrestlemania 17 & XX were huge flops! The Rock vs. Stone Cold Round 2, TLC II, Benoit vs HHH vs Shawn Michaels... those were big busts. I'm sure Vince must've lost shittons of loot on those shows.

Do you ever post without whining?[/quote]

Shame the triple threat at WMXX doesnt exist anymore since the Benoit murders..

I'm guessing he means that since they tried to rid the company of Benoit's existance since that mess happened, they're pretending that all his matches "never happened" and they wiped him completely out of their record books.

It's a shame really, no reason to not understand why they did it, but it's sad it had to happen because of what he did.
