I want to say the same duo also broke

I remember once there was an exciting, bloody match between Assasin 1 or 2 vs Mr Wrestling 2 on TBS.
The Super Destroyers was "Wild"Bill Irwin and Scott "Hog"Irwin. As for the Assasins,it was Joey Hamilton and 4 other partners: Tom Renesto, Roger Smith, Randy Colley and Hercules Hernandez.Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info. I don't know why, but Wild Bill Irwin and Scott Hog Irwin sound very familiar to me. They must have wrestled under those names as well huh?

Where are all the old school, NWA, WCW, Georgia Championship Wrestling fans around here? All this talk about the current wrestling scene has me left out in the cold.

Yep...in AWA & some NWA/WCW I believe. They had a cowboy gimmick, with the long leather dusters, etc.

Right here! I just keep up with the current stuff as well because there's only so much reminiscing and watching old matches can do for you. I cut my teeth on the old NWA, used to go to their house shows and TV tapings (when they used to do the tapings at arenas and have the interviews at ringside). One time I got on camera behind Ric Flair as he cut a promo. Me and my cousin were holding up the Four Horsemen hand sign...

I knew other fans were here.
When I read posts about the current Wrestling scene, I have no idea what anybody is talking about. I just lost interest many, many years ago.
When Flair released his book, I bought that quickly and read the entire book faster than I could have predicted.

I can recall the mornings when I would wake up early and watch
NWA or Georgia Championship Wrestling w/Gordon Solie as the host
on WTBS. Do you recall those days?

I also cut my teeth similiar to how you did.
I can remember all the Dusty Rhode matchers vs Harley Race or vs Flair.
Mr Wrestling 2, Tony Atlas, The Great Kabuki, etc...

Can you recommend a website where I can watch matches
from this era??

Is anyone to be fired tonight on TNA? Also they better not do what they did the last 2 weeks with the broadcasters again. It is bullshit.

I agree. It sucks already. I hope it's somewhat entertaining tonight, but I'm not holding my breath.

John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) is said to have been talking more about an imminent retirement from wrestling due to back problems reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Layfield was overheard saying this past week that his back problems, which is something he has been dealing with for years and ended his initial career for the first time back in 2006, have continued and that his career would probably be over by May.

Layfield, who is 42, recently captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship from CM Punk on Monday Night Raw this past week (March 9) and is not listed for upcoming house show bookings in May that have been released. He also claimed he would be doing something "historic" at WrestleMania 25 this year that would shock the wrestling world according to a blog post on the WWE Universe social networking website. One theory is that he could retire as champion, something nobody except for Trish Stratus as WWE Women's Champion in 2006 has ever done.

There is already speculation of starting a feud between JBL and Vladimir Kozlov heading into WrestleMania with the two scheduled to team up on Raw next week to face The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels in a tag team match, which would end in the two not working out as a team. Jim Ross even speculated this in a recent blog over on his official website, leading some to believe that could be the plan as there aren't many people widely available as an opponent with CM Punk locked up in the "Money in the Bank" Ladder match. The only other exception would be Rey Mysterio who surprisingly isn't confirmed for anything yet at WrestleMania. It will ultimately come down to what is decided in the next few weeks and how it plays out on TV, so anything at this point is only speculation.

It should be noted that Layfield has a number of projects he is currently working on. He recently took a job working for his wife's (Meredith Whitney) new financial firm and also owns Layfield Energy that produces and markets a series of drinks. If Layfield has any intention of staying involved with wrestling he could more than likely do so as an announcer, which was his role for more than two years on Smackdown while he was retired for the first time. Layfield's company Layfield Energy has also become the official sponsor and rumored financial backer for Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville, KY. OVW had just lots its television oulet and JBL stepping in essentially saved the company. With the financial crisis hitting Six Flags Amusement Park, OVW lost the company's main revenue source and the contract for a series of shows at the park in Louisville during the summer months (which was believed to be around $50,000). OVW was mainly funded by a combination of money earmarked by WWE, the Six Flags deal and other revenue the wrestling school generated. With the loss of affiliation with WWE, it hurt the wrestling school and the WWE income stopped when the affiliation stopped. The company was then left with a $6,000 per month lease on the Davis Arena. There is a possibility with JBL getting more heavily involved with OVW that WWE may rethink its decision to break from it as a developmental territory. Plus, FCW has not produced the quality of wrestlers that OVW has for WWE in the past and that has to be a big factor in decision making as well.

As plans stand now, the leading candidate city to host WrestleMania 27 in 2011 is Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium reports The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The stadium is a retractable dome that can be expanded to hold 70,000 people. It was opened a few months ago as the replacement venue for the old and now torn down Hoosier Dome that housed WrestleMania 8 in 1992, which happened to be the show that holds the record for having the most tickets given away for a WrestleMania in company history at around 15,000.

The Randy Orton and Triple H vignette on last night's Monday Night Raw was filmed in Florida yesterday and was not actually Orton's home reports PWInsider. The cops involved were developmental talents Matt Walsh and Michael Hutter. As reported earlier, the woman playing Orton's wife was model Laura Croft who was Playboy's Playmate of the Month in July.

WWE did multiple takes of certain things last night and what aired on Raw was the final product. In a funny editing note, a few readers pointed out that the photos on WWE.com of the incident showed Triple H being arrested with his jacket on, while on Raw he was shown being arrested without his jacket on. WWE has since removed the photo at this link since it was made public.

LOL,Now I am really excited about going to Lockdown in Philly. I need sign ideas guys!

According to a report by PWInsider, the deal announced between Danny Bonaduce and TNA where Bonaduce will wrestle at the Lockdown PPV on April 19 came about a week ago when Kurt Angle was a guest on his radio show to promote Lockdown. Bonaduce threw out an open challenge to any of his CCW cast members to wrestle him at Lockdown and was said to be eager to wrestle against Dennis Rodman who he claimed he dislikes a lot. Angle then suggested that if nobody from CCW accepted Bonaduce's challenge that the company would hook him up with a TNA star to wrestle instead at the PPV. Bonaduce agreed to the idea and said he was willing to bleed in the cage if he had to. It was also announced by Angle during his appearance that there would be a Team Angle vs. Team Jarrett match at Lockdown.

I was wrong about the Ted Dibiase injury. That was at the hands of

Also, I continued to mention the Super Destroyers.
Actually, I should have been asking about The Masked Superstar.
He was the person who gave vicious beatings to Tommy Rich w/Gordon

Between this thread, the "favorite wrestler" and "favorite tag-team" threads, I've been thinking about all the great shit that ASSHOLES like Vince's crew, Bitchoff, and Russo have killed off.

Make up
Masks
Cruiser weights
Tag Teams
Managers
Stables
Extended feuds
Talents female wrestlers (NOT DIVAS)

Back in the day, the promoters knew how to get a feud started and knew how to keep a storyline active and interesting for many, many months. Perhaps even up to a year or longer.
The masked wrestlers were needed. Why they are gone? Who knows.

I long for the days of TBS, WCW, NWA, Mid South, AWA from Texas w/the Von Erichs, etc....

To this day, and I'm sure I could look this up on the net, but I wonder what the truth is, how did Tommy Rich win the belt from Harley Race in '81 and then lose the belt within a week?
Something does not smell right with that situation.
As a young kid, I remember being so happy for the guy and then before I could blow my nose, he lost the belt.

Brian Kendrick
If you wanna talk outside WWE, Austin Aries, Low-Ki, Alex Shelley, Sabin, Brian Danielson, the Brisco Brothers (to some extent), and Samoa Joe all have impressed me more than RVD ever has.
Obviously all of those guys are not better workers than RVD, I just find them more entertaining.

.

...I like a lot of workers off that list, but the truth is except for HBK and Jericho and to a much lesser extent Samoa Blob, none of them have made any real money for any company they have worked for or actually been proven to put any butts in the seats compared to RVD.
Tickets, buys or metch wise. Edge is just a joke.. when he's not hurt cuz he's a giant wuss. And none of the rest them come close. They would be decent mid carders in a great wrestling (not sports enttertainment organization) but none of them besides HBK, Jericho and RVD could you use as a building block for a fed, much less for more than one main angle every six months, if that.
