Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
Taker/Michaels was BY FAR the best match I have seen in many years. It was reminiscent of Steamboat/Savage at WM 3 with all the near falls and each one seeming like it was THE one. Instant classic and both men showed why there is such a separation between the real pros and the cats who think they are main eventers. At one point, I actually believed Shawn might get the win, but Taker keeping the streak alive makes sense. (Cena can break it next year....JUST KIDDING!!!)I marked out like crazy during this match and I can't tell you the last time that happened. Probably during the "Attitude" era. Just fucking awesome and saved the show from being an utter, utter bust. Btw, loved the "old school crotch chop" by Shawn.
HHH/Orton I think will get a bad rap as being anti -climatic, as I believe they were just out of Satellite time and that match got shortened quite a bit. Time for WWE to re-evaluate and realize that matches between 20 skanks was innovative and shocking 7-8 years ago, but nobody cares to see that shit at Mania anymore. As well as a fucking Kid-Rock concert.
I miss the time when EVERY match at Mania was the climax to a lengthy feud, and was important to the stories that WWE was trying to sell.
BTW, were they working with a new director last night or what?? I noticed they missed the shot on a lot of high spots. Most telling was they missed the fucking water spit by HHH. I mean, I'm no fan of Hunter's, but the dude has one signature move that wraps up his ring entrance and they were late to it?

THIS. I could not believe the pop he got when he was about to grab the case. I really hope Vince decides to put him in more PPVs.
Taker match was great.
Shocked at how boring the Main Event was.
Overall I really enjoyed it. Weather messed my satellite up for about 10 minutes of the Undertaker match so that sucked.
Did anyone else think WTF? When Rey came out? I love how the announce team had nothing to say! lol First time good ol JR was speechless!

You must never have seen Steamboat/Savage from Mania 3 or Samoa Joe/Kobashi from Ring of Honor a few years ago. HBK/Taker was great, 4 stars but I think people are making this out to be better than it was due to how shitty the PPV turned out to be.Sugar Dave wrote:Taker- Michaels was probably one of the best matches i've ever seen, absolutely amazing.

This really was a great match. Probably one of the best I've seen in a long long long time. It really does rank up there with Steamboat/Savage and I remember that match like it was yesterday.Angry Jew wrote:You must never have seen Steamboat/Savage from Mania 3 or Samoa Joe/Kobashi from Ring of Honor a few years ago. Word goin' round is that WWF/E felt the Orton/H match came off very poorly last night and that they are working to put the strap on Orton tonight.

Wait a minute, so a match that has been done to death, with a predictable outcome, that had to close the show despite the fact the real main event blew the roof off the place about an hour earlier, came off bad!Wicked Booze Hound wrote:Word goin' round is that WWF/E felt the Orton/H match came off very poorly last night and that they are working to put the strap on Orton tonight.
I know I'm shocked!

I actually read a few live reports from people that were there and I guess about half way through the last match people were filing out. HAHA fuck you HHH.

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
I was listening to a radio show after mania and the host said HBk/Taker should not have done all those moves as it made it impossible to follow up. LOL, so they shouldn't have had the best match they could possibly have to save the other matches? That makes no sense.
Also, Cena>HHH. Yeah Cena wins a lot but his match was so much better than Orton/Trips.

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
I know a lot of you hate TNA but I truly believe that if Spike TV puts TNA on Monday Night head to head against WWF/E, the ratings would be neck in neck in a bout a year. Of course that's if TNA keeps doing what they've been doing recently.
Right now TNA is sitting on the next huge main event star in James Storm. The guy's got it. He's got the look, he can talk on the mic, he can cut one hell of a promo, he can go in the ring, and he is full of charisma. I know a lot of you will say what about Joe. Well, in all reality....he can't cut a promo to save his life. Not only that, he really sucks on the mic. He can go in the ring though. That I'll give him. But they've got to start pushing Storm to the moon. Have him go through a few those already established maineventers first as a wicked heel and then when the time is right you can turn him into the antihero face. If I was running TNA, that's who I'd put my money behind right now.

I watched Raw tonight and ...... well, it was bad. I mean real bad. Kinda like 1995 bad. They really need to re-evaluate their talent and who they have as main eventers. If they get pushed like they did back in 96 and 97, I don't think they have what it takes creatively to recover like they did back then. And I'm telling ya, it's really not gonna be long at all before TNA starts giving them a serious run for their money like WCW did if they keep going in the direction that they've been going. I guess Vince thinks it can't happen twice.

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
Ok, 'Mania's over, and here comes the draft. Who'd you like to see go where?
My choices...
Edge to Raw, obviously this will happen with Vicky taking over.
Rey Mysterio to ECW...With Evan Bourne and Tyson Kidd there, bring in Jamie Noble and Jimmy Wayne Yang in the suplimental, and you've got the makings of the Cruiserweight belt returning. I say ECW because i can't see Vince letting the Crusiers take over anywhere else.
Christian to Smackdown.
Miz&Morrison to Raw.
Jack Swagger to Raw.
Sim Snuka to ECW.
I'd like to see Kofi Kingston get in on the Crusierweight division too, but he might be just a bit too big. Opinions?
Ezekial Jackson to Raw...Seperate him and Kendrick and he'll have a decient run as a heel.
Brian Kendrick to ECW...Another fit for the Crusiers
Announcers--
Ross and King back togather on Raw
Joey Styles and Matt Stryker on Smackdown
Cole and a semi-active Regal on ECW?
And please, PLEASE, recruit some Managers. A lot of these guys would be phenomonal if they just had someone to work a mic for 'em. Two or three good stables, and stable feuds would really pull the E outta the funk it's in.

9 was pretty terrible. Was there even a solid match on that card?Wicked Booze Hound wrote:The worst was 9 with 11 a strong 2nd.
13 gets huge, huge marks for the Austin/Bret match. If that match didn't deliver, that would have been up there for worst ever.
2 was pretty bad.
18 was bad too which is surprising because with the roster they had, it should have been an amazing show. Again though, one match (Hogan/Rock) really made that show a lot better than what it was. I'd have to think about it, but talent wise that may have been the best roster ever and it went to waste.
11 was definitely crap, but it did have the best "non-wrestler" match ever IMO with LT and Bam Bam putting on a match so much better than they had any right to.
4 should have also been so much better than it was. How they fucked that show up is beyond me. I put 5 in that boat too.
