If Arod is healthy next yr, I wouldn't be surprised if he broke the record for hrs in one season. I wouldn't be surprised if he hit 75-80 in this joke of a park. This stadium deserves to be stuffed with dynamite.

I want the old stadium back.
I think everyone wants the old stadium back.

So every HR hit at the new Stadium is subject to ridicule going forward?

When they're hit off the end of the bat and somehow clear the wall, or if Melky Cabrera is driving them into the stands with regularity, yeah.

Take off the pom-poms for once, if ever.

I agree that it's too early to draw any conclusions about the place but you can't deny that the evidence from the first homestand is at least worth analyzing.

Of course I agree that this situation is worth analyzing. The Yankees brass have already begun to do this. Have said so publicly.

The HR Melky hit was a line drive. You telling me he has never done that before? No other player has done that before?
The HR Jeter hit to straight away center-He has done that before plenty of times.

Every HR is subject to an internal review because of what happened during the series vs the indians.

It's worth noting that Melky Cabrera already has half as many HR in 13 games as he did in both the 2008 and 2007 seasons. I guess he's embracing his inner slugger now.

Red Sox slugger David Ortiz warned Joba Chamberlain through a group of reporters Wednesday night to keep the ball over the plate this weekend.

The Red Sox seem to be anticipating some aggressiveness from the Yankees when the two clubs begin a three-game series at Fenway Park on Friday night. "None of that, man -- just play the game the way it's supposed to be, and that's about it," Ortiz said, referring to Chamberlain. ""This is a guy, as good as he is, the next step for him will be to earn respect from everybody in the league."

-------

LOL, coming from Ortiz, for 2 reasons. 1 being that the guy's hitting what, .220? Worry about yourself. Then again, I guess he wants Joba to throw it over the plate so he can hit it. Nevermind. The other reason being that I can't even tell how many times in recent years Yankee hitters have been plunked by Beckett, Timlin, etc. STFU Poopy.

papi has some cajones saying what he said.
i think he's scared because manny is not around to protect him. :(

will Joba throw at someone(hopefully youk, i am kidding)???

now that Burnett is throwing 96 mph for the Yankees, if Joba does not do something Fri night, there is always Saturday afternoon.

reason #2,094,946 this rivalry is the best in sports.

Cole Hamels got hit in the shoulder by a Prince Fielder line drive and had to leave the game. Something tells me this isn't going to be his year.

Just to change the subject on the short RF porch. I got some numbers for the upcoming series.

The first battle is Friday! Fuck Wang for leaving, I wanted them to face him on the mound.

MFY 9-6, 5-4 away at Mighty Red Sox 9-6, 7-2 at Fenway

Fri 7:10
RHP Chamberlain 0-0, 5.06 250/367/500 vs.
LHP Lester 1-2, 5.50 310/355/479

Sat 4:10
RHP Burnett 2-0, 3.20 194/295/343 vs.
RHP Beckett 2-1, 3.79 229/313/286

Sun 8:05
LHP Pettitte 2-0, 2.53 231/250/346 vs.
RHP Masterson 1-0, 3.18 262/304/286

Same records, but we've gotten there is vastly different ways. The Sox have won 7 in a row, while the MFY have only lost one series (opener vs. BAL) and carry a 3 game win streak (1 vs. CLE and a 2 game sweep of OAK).

And yes, they have pulled their Wang, so Horse face will get the Sunday night start.

For the season, OPS:

BOS is batting 275/ .361/ .475= .837 ( 4th in OPS in AL )
MFY is batting .271/ .351/ .485 = .836

As for pitching,
BOS. .243/ .327/ .384= .711 ( starters 761 /relievers 613 )
MFY .275/ .355/ .464= .820 ( starters 815 /relievers 825 )

I most want to see Beckett/Burnett. AJ was bailed out by Cleveland's worse pen than NY....same as Sabbathia, but the matchup of those two aces should be good. I'm thinking like the Wakefield/RJ game of 2005 good. AJ fucking owned the Sox last season, so this should be really really good.

Cheers.

David Ortiz is an idiot. He just guaranteed a ball to his chin this weekend. People do not like to be told what to do or what not to do. Ortiz is just trying to intimidate Joba and keep him from pitching inside. Joba was mentored by Clemens in 2007. What would Clemens do in this situation?? He would hunt for Ortiz head lol.

If something does happen(fight) this weekend, it is going to be Ortiz' fault for opening his mouth.

Wang threw in an extended spring training game today.
91 pitches.
Wang is scheduled to rejoin the team tomorrow in boston.

1)He will throw on Tues in detroit

2)He will be placed on the DL, leaving the possibility that
Phil Hughes will be called up to make the start vs the tigers

While I agree that Ortiz should shut his yap...... if anything starts this weekend, it will probably be because of Joba acting like a fucking punk.... as he usually does.

Man, what a fun game yesterday.

When Mariano came in, I was on here furiously typing out this long winded post, about how there were 2 runs scored with 16 men on base, 4 GiDPs, etc. Then Bay hit's it out.

I deleted the post and celebrated.

I don't care how many times Mariano has a blown save against Boston ( 12 ), I will never feel confident when he comes in the game. It amazes me like the first time everytime.

Today is the game I'm looking forward to. Beckett against Burnett. Last year in 4 starts against the Mighty Red Sox Burnett went 2-0, with like a 2.34 ERA. That guy is the shit.

You know, I was watching last night, and in the top of the 9th the Yanks loaded the bases against Javier Lopez with nobody out. Cano grounds into the DP and the inning ends, and I said to myself right there "that's going to bite them in the ass." Could have really put the nail in the coffin.

I don't care who you pay to pitch for you, this whole leaving people on base shit is getting really old.

Yep. I was thinking it was going to be a pitching duel 1-0 game. :?

Boston cracked the might AJ Burnett. The MFY cracked the Mighty Josh Beckett.

Let's get to them there Bullpens.

Oh and fuck Fox. I want to watch another game on the other TV too, I can't do that because it's fucking Saturday. Piece of shit network.

Don't know if it has been discussed here yet as I'm just a bit too lazy to search right now... but maybe I can get some fantasy feedback here...

AJ Burnett. It looks like the new Yankee Stadium could set a record for home runs if the pace keeps up. He's a flyball pitcher, but he's my best K pitcher right now. Do I bite the bullet and move him knowing that he's going to be serving up more taters than KFC? Or is the home run barrage at the new stadium just a temp thing?

Guy is offering me Jeter, Crawford, & Harang for Burnett, Magglio, & Tulowitzki.

I will take Jeter (especially in the new ballpark) over Tulo... I need SB's and will miss Magglio's low K total and his average and power. I'd make the Tulo/Magglio for Jeter/Crawford swap... but I'm iffy on Harang for Burnett to round out the deal.

Thoughts?

I would hang onto Burnett right now. There is the park factor of new MFY Stadium to consider, but the guy is a fucking good pitcher. Plus at least for the beginning of the season, he's at full health. I wouldn't let him go for Harang.

But then again what the fuck do I know? I'm getting raped by the Demons right now so fuck it.

Still digging Wash?

I watched him for years with the Angels. I was figuring he would run out of gas this year, that he wouldn't keep up his incredible start. I think he'll settle in around a 4.20 ERA and give you 10-12 wins, just like usual.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the wheels to come off any day now. When Seattle signed him, I didn't understand it really. He was the shit with Anaheim, now he's in the back end of his career.

Maybe I was punch-drunk from the 1st two losses in the series, but Morgan seemed decent last night during the telecast. He even laughed at the jokes about him when talking about "his elbow twitch".
