Watching "Hancock" right now. Actually far better than I thought it would be. Some pretty good moments, even as far fetched as it is. 7/10

I haven't see Borat. I really should though, the bf has it.pieceofme wrote:How does it compare to the Borat film?drops_of_jupiter wrote:Lessee..the last film I saw was Bruno. I'll give it 7/10. I know the charcater's outrageously gay and that that's the whole point of it. But, my god, there was so much faggotry going on it was almost overbearing. Obviously, I like the fact that a lot of it's 'real' *spolier* - the wrestling hooligans doing all they can to kill 'Bruno' when they find out he's gay (having dressed up as a 'wrestler' of some sort with a mullet and calling himself 'Straight Dave') is quite alarming.
The charity single at the end is great. SlashBono, Sting, Snoop Dogg and Chris Martin are in it. I must've seen the ending about 5 times now.

Last night I saw Public Enemies
Loved the movie. Depp is in a class of his own. Bale was just there for the ride as per usual these days. I didn't know much about Dillinger before the movie, so the ending was a bit of a let down for me, but since it's based on a true story, I seriously can't complain.
I give it 8.5/10

I'd give it a 5/10 but I agree that screwing with the plot killed it.EvilPettingZoo wrote:My Sister's Keeper-3/10
Book was excellent, but they screwed with the plot and the movie fell flat.

I personally think Borat is better. Bruno was seriously funny (8.5/10), but the set up was a LOT like Borat. I wonder if the black boxes will go away in the DVD release?pieceofme wrote:How does it compare to the Borat film?

Two days after seeing the movie and I still crack up at some of the lines when I'm alone. When he says the bears ate all his clothing and that "zey got everything but zese two condoms". Agree that it's not as good as Borat, though.
Last one: Zelig- 7/10. Good mockumentary with some pretty funny Woody Allen one-liners, but nothing extraordinary.

I know someone else said this but the most disturbing part for me was those parent wanting their kids to get the photo shoot. I wish those were fake. Yeah, that was pretty shocking. "Could she operate heavy machinery?" And then after PAUSING TO THINK ABOUT IT the bitch still says "Yes, I think so."
God, those parents who are such failures themselves that they have to become overly ambitious on behalf of their kids are a rotten bunch.

God, when that woman agreed to get her child liposuction!!

But I almost fell out of my seat laughing when that dominatrix was beating him with that belt.
When he was interviewing that terrorist and trying to convince him to kidnap him... I really don't know how he made it through the filming of that alive. And it sounds like he had some really close calls. http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Incredib ... 13759.html
This website talks about the making of the movie and tells some hilarious stories that occurred during the filming.

I'll be seeing Harry Pothead tonight. I think it's released tomorrow. I could think of a million better things to do from 11pm to 2am, but my bro' wants to see it, and I have to be present for him to be allowed in.
Ok, maybe I wanna see it just a little.

The Burrowers - 6/10
I applaud the attempt to make a horror/western, but it moved too slowly, the characters were never developed properly, the creatures were weak and the end sucked.

A couple of days ago we did the whole school holidays take the kids to the movies day.
Went and saw Ice Age 3. I gotta admit..... i laughed my ass off.... a lot of fun to watch except for those little shits behind us kicking our seats and throwing tantrums.
Could it be that the Ice Age sequels are among the best sequels ever released?? In regards to not dropping the ball or releasing crap coz the 1st one did well. I mean all 3 have been great.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - 9/10
Great fucking movie. I only gave it a 9 because of the things that were missing that were in the book.

The Haunting in Connecticut (2009)... 4.5/10.
Great actors, could have been promising, but it fell flat pretty quick. Production, editing and storyline were lacking in a big way here.

Adventureland - 3/5
Some funny, not a lot.
Sorta predictible and while not a great weed movie (even with a decent amount of weed smoked in it), it was decent and it didn't suck.

Eraserhead. It was on the streaming Netflix, so I said fuck it and watched it sober. I remember seeing it stoned out of my fucking gourd when I was 18 or so and thinking it was pure genius. Now it think it's a steaming pile of shit. 1/10

I saw Bruno last week. I'd give it a 6/10 I guess. It was probably like 85% rehearsed.

The Haunting in Connecticut.
5 out of 10
it had some nicely placed "holy shit" moments, but some of the special effects and makeup were lame.

"Ned Kelly"- I saw the 1970 version (it was remade a few years back). It starred Mick Jagger as some strange Aussie outlaw from the 1800's but for whatever reason all the songs were sung in a 1970 country style by a very American-sounding Waylon Jennings.
Jagger was OK, the music was OK but didn't seem to fit, but it really lacked the Peckinpah-like violence I crave from any sort of western!

Underworld-Rise of the Lycans
An underrated flick around these parts if you ask me. I know, I know, it didn't have Kate running around in black leather, and it opened up some plot holes with what ran in the first two movies, but still a good flick.
Michael Sheen's portrayal of Lucian really, REALLY makes me hope for another couple of movies with this character. Perhaps even one where we see that the injection of Michael Corvin's blood was successful and allows Lucian to fight off the effects of the silver. And, there's several centuries worth of story of his battle for survival against the vampires. Besides, Kevin Grevioux's Raze needs more face time.
