Guess I should have posted this here instead of the lounge, oh well I'm excited about retiring early.
Never drink a few at the ball park then get a bright idea to buy a bunch of bobble head dolls of a player you hate.
What was I thinking!?

After the Manny Bobble head give away at Dodger Stadium they must have shipped the left overs to their minor league affiliates.
So what the hell, for $5 a pop I picked up a baker dozen to help fund my retirement.

I'M RICH! I'M RICH BITCH!
Manny Ramirez (the bobblehead) is on the market!
Manny Ramirez's big hit may have inspired some people to earn big bucks by selling their Ramirez bobbleheads on EBay.
Given away at Dodger Stadium, dolls in the slugger's image show up on EBay after he hits a clutch homer.

Problem is is all collectibles took a hit with PEDs. When the full list of 104 is released from 2003, if he's on it his memorabalia will be about as valueable as a McGwire Olympic card.

The latest rumor is Buccholz, Bowden and Westmoreland for Halladay. Boston is looking to get a third team involved to help Toronto get a SS prospect.

Your Jeff Francoeur update...
Jeff Francoeur drove a run in for the fourth consecutive game, and he is hitting .321 with three homeruns and 16 RBI with the Mets.
Meanwhile Ryan Church, who was made out to be Mickey Mantle when the Mets traded him to Atlanta, is batting .200 with 1 homer and 4 ribs for the Braves.

I am standing by my statement on day one that this was a great trade for the Mets! 4 in a row! Ya gotta believe!!!

There's a new rumor everyday and will be until Friday.

Gammo is the worst. I think he consults a Magic 8ball for his rumors.

If it was Buchholz, he wouldn't have pitched today.

Nothing happens.

I did hear that Cashman tried to get Arroyo and was denied. They need someone to keep ( 17.5 pitches an inning! ) Joba the fat's innings down. He's close to surpassing his monthly, much less yearly limit.

Wang needs a tear in his capsule repaired, apparently. The capsule is the soft-tissue membrane. Typically, the capsule is tightened in surgery.

The Yankees either don’t know or aren’t saying how long Wang will be out. But it will be for the rest of this season and quite likely some of next season as well. This will be Wang’s second shoulder surgery in eight years.

The surgery will be performed by Dr. James Andrews tomorrow morning.

What a blow :(

Ever since he injured his foot last June running the bases, nothing has
gone right for him.

For now Sergio Mitre is still in the rotation, but for how long?
Not sure if the Yankees are seeking a starter in the trade market or not.
If Mitre can not pitch well, Aceves would be the next person in line. He has not pitched since July 21 because "he is tired". That quote comes from
Girardi.

I picked up 6 of them totaling $30 and today I sold one for $42, minus shipping and fee's I've made about $5 already!

Riccardi overplayed his hand. He is trying to get way more than value for Halladay. Yes, Halladay is one of the top 2 or 3 pitchers in the game. However, he is only under contract for a little over a season and will be looking for a large multi-year deal when this one is up. At which time he will be 34 years old.

Who would want to give a 34 year old pitcher with a lot of innings on his arm more than 3-4 years at that point? So it really works out to Doc being a season and a half rental, and that is not worth 5 top prospects. Riccardi is going to end up getting nothing for him if he doesn't lower his demands because this time next season Halladay is only worth a fraction of his value today.

Yeah, Ricciardi is an asshole. Remember what happened to the Twins with the Johan deal? They rejected good/great packages from the Red Sox and Yankees and settled on a pile of shit from the Mets.

The fact is Toronto is going to win jack shit this year or next so they may as well get something for him before he walks and they only get 2 draft picks as compensation.

The packages they've demanded from some of these teams and rejected from others are just laughable.

They rejected a package led by Buchholz and Bowden from Boston? They want Holland, Smoak, AND Feliz from Texas?

The Blue Jays are a joke. This time next year they're going to wind up getting like Brandon Wood and a bag of balls, if they're lucky.

The package that Riccardi rejected from Boston was Buccholz, Bowden, Masterson, and Anderson. That's a major league ready starter, a middle relief/spot starter, a top AAA pitcher who should be ready within a year, and the Red Sox's top positional prospect. That's an excellent package for a sesaon and 2 month rental.

On top of all that Riccardi demanded Daniel Bard to complete the package and Casey Kelly a RHP/SS from A ball as the premium for trading in the division. Boston countered back with the 4 they agreed to plus any other AA or lower prospect except Kelly to account for the in-division premium and Riccardi said no.

Riccardi was ordered to do a salary dump and restock the farm. It doesn't make sense to hang onto a pitcher who only has a 1 & 1/2 season window with his franchise when he has several good packages on the table and could probably get away with tossing in a bad contract with the deal to dump salary. He is going to end up getting nothing and will probably get fired over this.

So now the Pirates have traded their 1B, 2B, and SS in the last week, not to mention a pitcher who was once one of their promising young arms, PLUS a catcher who batted .318 with 15 home runs last year. This, coupled with the trading of the entire fucking outfield PLUS their top reserve outfielder in the past year, has left me sad beyond belief. For the first time since they let Dave Parker walk after 1983, I'm ready to give up on this team...not even letting Bonds go made me feel this shitty.

I'm not quite getting the logic here...they traded away two young cornerstone players (Bay and McLouth), but at the same time say they're rebuilding. Isn't the point of rebuilding to build around a solid, young nucleus? Most of these other idiots I can at least see to some degree, but not those two.

I'm depressed. The team I've loved since I was 5 is just in shambles and I'm sick about it. Someone hold me.

Mitre has made 2 starts. I don't know his stats, but they are average at best.
Prior to being called up, he was throwing great in AAA.
I've seen his starts on t.v. and I have to say, he has a terrific sinker.
Lots of action on the ball.
Would be unfair to judge him after only 2 starts. He is scheduled to start
again tomorrow vs white sox.

So allegedly Manny and Ortiz tested positive on the same report as A-Rod did in 2003.

Well, sorta like with Jack Z. in Seattle... Huntington is trying to right the ship and undo years of mismanagement in Pittsburgh.

I understand ditching Bay since they were never going to be able to resign him after this year, but the package of prospects they got back have been awful. Nady and Marte were two fringy guys and that they got anything at all for them was a plus.

This year though, I don't know. The McLouth deal made no sense at the time and still doesn't make sense to me. Young guy, locked up for the next few years. Not that great, but still had a little star power. Freddy Sanchez sucked and they got a great pitching prospect for him (#26 in all of MLB) so you can't complain about that. I like the load that they got back for Jack Wilson, another fringy guy - great glove, no bat.

I actually liked the Nyjer Morgan to Washington deal for Pittsburgh - they got back a guy with a ton of upside in Milledge and Hanrahan, a guy with closer stuff.

Basically they're retooling and rebuilding the farm system. I can't imagine what it's like to root for a team that has essentially been in rebuild mode for like 15 years but at least you gotta know in the next few seasons some of these guys are going to have to pan out.

I like their potential offense moving forward, but they're going to be really thin in the pitching department.

Both Seattle and Pittsburgh are in a rebuilding mode. Seattle has to fix what Bavasi did to the team, Pittsburgh has to fix what......I don't know life has done to the team.

The M's went all out and signed Tom Tango to be their Bill James. Yet in the draft where they had like 4 top picks they drafted a bunch of defensive IF. I only looked at few numbers, so maybe I should research it better.

I agree with Jake, that the Pirates' farm is looking better to make a showing in the majors, as not just AAAA guys soon. Seattle, not so much. Tacoma has sucked the last couple years.

Interesting. Last night around the crack of midnight, the Angels called up Sean Rodriguez (middle-infielder type but can play OF as well) and Bobby Wilson (catcher) from AAA. Let me put a few pieces together and hypothesize...

1. There is no way the Angels would trade Napoli (I fucking hope, dude is a beast in waiting).
2. Mathis' name has been mentioned very peripherally in the Halladay talks. Obviously, his bat sucks but his D is fairly highly regarded.
3. The Angels already have a glut of middle infielders on the roster: Kendrick, Izturis, Figgins, Aybar, Wood.
4. Naps has been used a lot in the DH spot lately.

Now, put all those together and (wishful thinking on my part) here is what I get: Mathis, Wood and Kendrick won't be on the Angels this afternoon, hopefully for Halladay. If it is for Halladay, I'm sure we'll also lose at least one of our top pitching prospects as well, obviously. If so, I'll miss Kendrick, he's just getting his shit back together and I think he has a solid career ahead of him. Wood could also be something very worthwhile but it is yet to be proven.

Oh please, oh please.

Don't really see why they're pining after V-Mart, but hey... it'll deplete their farm system and he's not a difference maker anyway. Unless of course they want to catch him and stick Varitek on the bench, he's not that much of an upgrade (if at all) over Mike Lowell. I guess this means Adam Laroche's stay in Boston will be brief.

It looks like Boston is getting Martinez for Masterson & a prospect and then sending LaRoche to Atlanta. Could they be lining up for Halladay?

I don't know much about this player, except he can play multiple positions.

The big loser of the day is Ricciardi. He had multiple good offers on the table for Halladay and passed them up, now Halladay's value starts going down because he is at most a 1 season rental. He supposedly had orders to rebuild and cut payroll and he did neither. He was trying to set the market and overplayed his hand. I would not be surprised to see him get fired in October.

What made things even worse for him was Peavy and Lee both getting moved for nice packages.

I had to laugh when I read his quote that they will just focus now on winning in 2010. Yeah... good luck with all of that.

False!!!

Just not familiar with the NL, let alone the reds.
Did his father play for the white sox back in the day??

Jerry Hairston on the trade to the Yankees:

“Whatever they ask me to do, I’ll do it. I can play anywhere. I’m a little shocked right now. I feel a closeness with these guys. At the same time, I’m going to New York where we have a chance to win.”
