I'm piecing together a Malmsteen kinda strat for my son right now.

I got one of these,

and am turning it into a half stack.


I just peeled the vinyl down, cut the bottom off, took out a few inches, glued the bottom back on and cut and re-glued the vinyl.
Then I made a new box for the speaker. I just need to finish covering it all.

Best $20 amp I ever had.

I also picked up another UREI 530 eq. These are great on guitar. A lot of people have used them.
They were a big part of Metallica's MOP guitar and bass tones.

I scored an American Strat w/hardshell case, a Fender HotRod Deluxe Amp and 6 BOSS Pedals (Tuner, Blues Driver, Tremelo, Super Chorus, Digital Delay and Noise Suppressor)...Also came with a nice carrying case for the pedal board...All for 500 USD!!! The pickguard on the Strat was seemilngly burned and colored with a crayon but man does it sound sweet...Anyway, I took her to the shop today to get a new pickguard and tune up...I'll post pics soon...

I just put one of those EVH Frankenstein Humbuckers in a Jackson V, I saw some good reviews on it and was curious. It's okay I guess, but doesn't touch my HM Strat's humbucker. It needs a little compression to tighten it up for my tastes.

I also recently put a set of Texas Specials in an old Strat. That bridge pickup is The Truth, people 12 blocks away will hear the slightest mistake.

Probably not Fender noiseless, then...they're more squeaky-clean.

What about Kinmans? A bit pricy...I have a tonewhore buddy who swears by them:

Toro knows that I'm no guitar player, but I just got an ESP LTD MW600. I bought it as a collectable and it is supposed to be the last on the the US.



I put some lighter strings on it, and I can get around OK.

Are you talking about the HM Strat original humbucker? I agree, those DiMarzio Super 3's are fantastic!

I put some Lollar P90s in my hollowbody Waterstone Cumulus and they rock!

Your probably right. I'm not a big single coil guy. I'd probably do Gilmour EMGs if noise was the issue.

Yeah, that's the one. It makes my SL-X Marshalls sound like no other guitar I've ever heard plugged into them. I was lucky to get one, someone bought it brand new for my birthday years ago and didn't have a clue what it was.

Yeah...I got it as swag for an art job I did, and have been trying to get along with it for a couple years...then the other day, I was playing through one of my regular crybabys at my apartment, and I was like:"Fuck. That's the sound I want. Duh!"

...so the spiffy one has to go!
