Shush Ratty. Neckbeard was decent...when he wasn't shirtless in someone's living room drinking Jack like it was going out of style.

Re: Your random observations about the NFL season so far.
I'd take him over the cream puff in Oakland at this point. Like I say, I've seen Cutlerfuck show flashes of Elway at times but the dude is as inconsistent as they come....Then again....Bear fans should be used to that.Rainbow Bright wrote:Shush Ratty. Re: Your random observations about the NFL season so far.
Unless Parcells wants to give up on the season and put Henne in there right away, then Pat White shortly thereafter, he'd better contact Jumbo Elliot, Tony Boselli, Anthony Munoz, Jackie Slater or another great left tackle and get him on the payroll.
Jake Long is a great run blocker, but his footwork in protection is atrocious and he gets knocked on his ass FAR too often for someone his size, especially by smaller players.
When, in back to back games, John Abraham and Dwight Freeney, known for speed rushing and NOT bullrushing, are knocking him on his ass repeatedly from getting him off balance, there's a major problem that will get his QB killed.

The Jets are the real deal.
Miami has the worst two minute offense in the history of two minute offenses.
Ray Lewis still has it.
Mario Williams is a fucking monster.
It doesn't matter who coaches Indy as long as Manning is the QB.
The Saints are scary good.
The Pats are over.

That's essentially the only good move Charlie Casserly ever made.Itjogsamongus wrote:Its something that the Mario Williams pick turned out to be the right one.
To his credit, he DID pilfer a phenomenal boatload of picks in the Ricky Williams fiasco, putting Washington in a position to become another Dallas Cowboys. However, he sure did blow that one.

Yes, it is. The Vince Young love in this town was insane when that pick was made and the vitriol over the Texans not picking either him or Bush was really, really bad. It's awesome watching Mario bitchslap the haters and making pro bowls while Young rides the pine and Bush is regarded as largely irrelevant.Itjogsamongus wrote:Its something that the Mario Williams pick turned out to be the right one.
Juggs: Casserly didn't make that pick. He was still technically the GM, but that was all Kubiak. Casserly wanted to take Reggie Bush, but since he was on the way out, Kubiak over ruled him. At the time, when everyone thought the Texans were out of their minds he was very quick to put the blame on Kubiak. Interesting how he now likes to take credit for it huh?

You really think so? I don't think they're the best team in their division anymore, let alone the AFC. The hooded one is pretty bad ass, and I'm sure he'll get them back eventually, but I don't think it'll be this year.Itjogsamongus wrote:Pats are not over.

Re: Your random observations about the NFL season so far.
That might be off the record Texas knowledge then because I remember the reasoning - Ends have longer careers than RBs and in a division with Peyton Manning you need someone who can get after him.bane wrote:Yes, it is. That seems like the kind of talk found on a Texans message board.
Basically, when Williams looked like a bust it was Casserly's pick, but when Williams came on it was Kubkiak's.
That, and I have a hard time believing a first time HC with no prior HC experience was given sway over Casserly.

The topic has been discussed to death on local radio etc. I don't have any proof of it, but it's pretty much local common knowledge that Casserly wanted Bush but gave in to Kubiak because it looked like Bush would be tough to sign.

Well, that says it all. Local radio. As I said - when Williams looked like a flop, it was Casserly's pick. When Williams started to look like the next Bruce Smith, it became Kubiak's pick.bane wrote:The topic has been discussed to death on local radio etc. I don't have any proof of it, but it's pretty much local common knowledge that Casserly wanted Bush but gave in to Kubiak because it looked like Bush would be tough to sign.
I forgot. Casserly does have another gem on his record - Andre Johnson.

Re: Your random observations about the NFL season so far.
That's not how it was locally though. It was always thought of as Kubiak's pick. He caught heat for it at first, then he looked like a genius later. That helped to balance out his misstep in wanting to keep Carr (yeah, that was him too). Johnson was a good pick though. The only good move Casserly ever made during his tenure here as far as I can tell.thejuggernaut wrote:Well, that says it all. Local radio. It's not that tough to use a little circumstantial evidence to show that draft being more Kubiak than Casserly. It was a good draft. It netted 2 pro bowl players. (Williams and DeMeco Ryans). Casserly couldn't make a good call, seemingly ever, Kubiak (along with Rick Smith) hasn't had a bad draft yet.

Well, it seems everyone outside of the state of Texas pins Williams to Casserly.bane wrote:That's not how it was locally though. It was always thought of as Kubiak's pick. Some of his all time excellent picks include -
Brian Mitchell
Stephen Davis
Keenan McCardell
Frank Wycheck
Champ Bailey
Andre Johnson
Jerome Mathis
He largely struck out in Houston until his final year (Williams, Ryans, Daniels) so I can see how that draft might go to Kubiak.
However, he was one of the key architects of Joe Gibbs' Redskin powerhouses, so he has had a good eye for talent on occasion.
I don't know. I just can't see a first time head coach having that much sway in such an important draft.

Re: Your random observations about the NFL season so far.
They'll get on track and win some games with a shot at the playoffs but nothing more. They may not be totally done but the dynasty is.bane wrote:You really think so? They've simply lost too many key players and can't over come it with a rusty Brady. As for the future, can't see them putting all the pieces back to dominate again. Still could be one of the better teams but not a stand out.

That's pretty much how I see it too. Their division is getting better while they're going backwards. Dynasties don't ever last, and I think theirs is over.UtahRatt wrote:They'll get on track and win some games with a shot at the playoffs but nothing more. Re: Your random observations about the NFL season so far.
You'll get no argument from me about his successes in Washington. That's why he was hired, but it sure didn't translate here. He made bad call after bad call. It started with Tony Boselli and went downhill from there. His drafts were mostly disasters and his free agent acquisitions were even worse. I wasn't in the room for that 06 draft, and I can't tell you for sure how it went down, but the prevailing opinion here is that Kubiak had far more to do with it than Casserly did. I'd venture to guess that the rest of the country would assume it was Casserly because he was the GM when it happened (sort of, I don't know how much the rest of the country was aware of the situation during that draft. The Texans were horrible, so I doubt there was much conversation about them nationally, but suffice to say, everybody in town was well aware that Casserly was a lame duck before that draft even happened. His departure was a done deal well in advance) He himself hasn't done anything to dispel the opinion that it was him either, (Why would he? It was an awesome draft) so national opinion would have no reason to think otherwise.thejuggernaut wrote:

Settle the fuck down. According to Monsters of Rock, the only thing that kept Jeff George from being great was his supporting cast, and nothing at all to do with his attitude.johnk5150 wrote:I think you're missing my point. Never mind that Jim fucking Harbaugh took over the Colts when George left and guided them to an AFC Championship game with virtually the same team, and Chris "Chandelier" Chandler took over George's Falcons team and led them to the Super Bowl a year later - George played on shitty teams and it had nothing to do with his lack of intelligence.

As a Pats fan I hate to admit that Dirty Sanchez looks great. Ridiculous ball handling skills. He faked out a few camera men in their first game.

So what do you think Plaxico Burress will be facing during his stay at Riker’s Island? Here's some collective thoughts from around the net.
“You’re a dead man. This is the world’s largest concentration of Jets fans.”
“Any man who drops a pass spends a night in the box.”
“The Michigan State Alumni Group meets on Tuesdays at 2:45, near the basketball courts.”
"There are some tv shows that would lead you to believe that men have sex with other men in jail! Against their will even!"
Plax: What kind of music do you usually have here?
Inmate 19-0-1R: Oh, we got both kinds, Michael Jackson AND Thriller!

I could see why some of the boys took him for snobby. He had a quiet way about him, a walk and a talk that just wasn't normal around here. He strolled. Like a man in a park without a care or worry.
