Indeed it was, also just as good was to see Ngog stick another one in in injury time, justice well served given Man U's recent stoppage time "happenings".SLASH1976 wrote:Nice seeing Torres score again
But all in all, despite whoever scored, it felt so good to see Liverpool stuff Man U for a third consecutive league game.
Re: The association football 2009/10 thread...
It keeps Rafa in a job, which is good news for the rest of the league, but bad for Liverpool's title hopes. I expect Arsenal's reserves to win in midweek too, if Rafa plays his reserves which I expect him too.
Arsenal and City both draw games they would have expected to win, so it could be worse. Still 4 points ahead of 'Pool which was what United finished above them last season to win the league - some things never change!

2-0 is hardly a stuffing is it.The End wrote:Indeed it was, also just as good was to see Ngog stick another one in in injury time, justice well served given Man U's recent stoppage time "happenings".SLASH1976 wrote:Nice seeing Torres score again

In a numbers sense, I agree, 2-0 isn't much, but after Liverpool's recent form I was expecting to be disappointed on Sunday. Plus given Man U's rate of winning matches this season, a 2-0 win for Liverpool is a great coup.pieceofme wrote:2-0 is hardly a stuffing is it.The End wrote:Indeed it was, also just as good was to see Ngog stick another one in in injury time, justice well served given Man U's recent stoppage time "happenings".SLASH1976 wrote:Nice seeing Torres score again

You can't deny that there was no way in the world that Jamie Carragher was ever going to let Wayne Rooney or Michael Owen through, and Vidic & Ferdinand were no match for Torres, and couldn't hope to be.
I hope Liverpool can regain form, the idea of Man U having more league titles than them is not one that would sit well with me...It's a rivalry thing.

Hence the blatant fouling on both. Carragher should have been sent off.The End wrote:In a numbers sense, I agree, 2-0 isn't much, but after Liverpool's recent form I was expecting to be disappointed on Sunday. Liverpool won't win the league this season. My prediction was Chelsea and I still stick by that, but for obvious reasons I hope United do.

It was also funny to see Vidic having a chat with Carra after his foul on Owen.
I think Vidic was saying if that had been him doing that at the other end, then he'd be off. And so he was.

Great goal by Fabregas today.
Re: The association football 2009/10 thread...
Title challenge over for the season for Liverpool. 3-1 down at Fulham, Carra and Degen sent off.
They can only raise their game against United.

The Yanks can't afford to sack him.
Very workman like at Old Trafford.

Excellent goal from Berbatov after he fluffed his lines in the first half.

He couldn't manage Scunthorpe at the moment. Mickey' s right, it will cost too much to fire him.SLASH1976 wrote:Liverpool lost again![]()

Re: The association football 2009/10 thread...
A couple of Rafa's decisions today were odd.
At 1-1 he takes off Torres with 1/2 an hour left.
Then Benayoun followed with 10 mins left with it 2-1 with both teams still at 11 a side.
I wonder whether he had Lyon in mind.

Only in football do you have a manager who is having a poor run and yet is still linked with one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Reminds me of last season when Ramos was sacked from Tottenham - and where did he end up - Real Madrid. No other company or business works like that.

Re: The association football 2009/10 thread...
I think with Benitez though he's regarded very highly because of his exploits at Valencia, and also getting Liverpool to 2 European cup finals. So Madrid would feel given the galaxy of stars they have, Benitez should do well with their squad. He also coached there too, in the past. The pressure would still be on him though. They don't take second place lightly in Madrid.pieceofme wrote: Thats exactly what he had in mind.

With Ramos, I think they sacked their previous coach and then had to get someone mid season, which is difficult unless someone has been sacked elsewhere. Ramos has had a turbulent few years and needs to settle somewhere and rebuild his reputation.
Re: The association football 2009/10 thread...
Sounds like Torres and Gerrard might need operations. That explains why Torres was pulled off early on Saturday.

Ac Milan - Real Madrid had a fun first half but the second half was boring.
1-1
Anybody saw the Man United match ?
3-3 seems like a watchable match
Bayern München lost 0-2

Just watched the United match, poor defending and keeping for me on the 1st and 3rd CSKA goals, and poor defending on the second. United's 3rd was lucky.

Re: The association football 2009/10 thread...
chelsea now overwhelming favourites for the english premiership after beating man utd, arsenal second favourites. manchester united drop to 3rd in the bookies odds. was a very poor game i thought.
Re: The association football 2009/10 thread...
United just can't score goals against decent opposition. Against Arsenal, they were lucky thanks to a pen and an own goal. And scoring 4 against City was no big deal as City have gone shit since.
Against Chavski and Liverpool they've been found wanting.
As I've been saying since the summer, a lack of goals will fuck United over. Fergie's tight fistedness with the Ronaldo money might come back to bite him on the ass.

Still a good result, though. Liverpool are still shite.
