I don't know if anyone watched Strikeforce tonight, but holy shit! Melendez/Thomson is a definite candidate for fight of the year, and Scott Smith pulled off the greatest comeback I've ever seen in 10+ years of watching MMA. Also got to see godly grappling from Jacare, can't wait to see him rape Shields on the ground.

Dynamite 2009 is live tonite. Starts at 3am on the east coast on HDNet. I'm staying up to watch it. Anybody else?

...And it was really disappointing. Lots of premature stoppages and can crushing. Aoki needs to come to the UFC so BJ can kick his ass.

Not a very impressive win for Evans tonight, but a win nonetheless. Note to Silva: instead of taunting the opponent you're losing to, why not take things into your own hands? You looked like an idiot.

Strikeforce tonite at 10 on Showtime. I was gonna go to my friends and party but my plans have changed. I'm watching It solo with a 12 pack of Iggy Ice.

Should be an awesome card. I got Zaromskis, Manhoef, Lashley, Cyborg, and I guess Walker. Wes Sims says he's gonna try a Hulk Hogan leg drop on Lashley, I can't wait to see him get his ass kicked.

Well Herschel Walker won, I was not expecting that at all. Not bad for a 47 year old

Well you did.

I started watching the shit late. I was watching the Walker fight as I read your post.

I guess it's not really your fault and I won't hold it against ya. We have just this one thread for MMA so we can't really give a spoiler warning. Well we can but...

Fucking goddamn it Manhoef was whooping that ass and the he got brutally KTFO. I hate Nick Diaz with a passion but he is really looking impressive. I would love to see him back in the UFC.

I wasn't that impressed with him last night, but then again his opponent blew balls.

It will be interesting to see what he can do when he finally fights someone worthwhile.

Agreed, I wasn't impressed either, I'd like to see him fight someone like Roy Nelson.

Lashley didn't impress me at all. The fight looked fake

The Walker fight looked like a work.(fake)

Nick Diaz seems to get better with every fight. I've been a Diaz fan forever and always worried about him cutting. They seem to have fixed that.

Cyborg will most likely rule womans mma for a long time.

Lawler was very impressive just waiting until...POW!

I hate Dana White so I would like to see Strikeforce get bigger but last nights card sucked.

Strikeforce seem to be more like the old UFC, with really lopsided fights that the average fans loves, I'd like to see them become a lot bigger to make the UFC have to have more depth in their divisions and put on more non-PPV programming.

...against Mark Coleman, who looked old and decrepit and beaten as soon as the fight started. I like Couture a lot, but let's face it, that wasn't really a marquee fight. Coleman was terrible.

That "thump" you heard last night was me jumping off the Marquardt bandwagon and then jumping on the Sonnen wagon. Seriously, though - Sonnen looked fucking great, and props to Nate for still almost managing to choke him out at the end. That was a very good fight.

Thaigo looked great as well, Guillard and Davis also looked good. Lots of good fights last night, except for the main event.

Sonnen looked great, but he did leave his neck out a few times, if Marquardt hadn't been so exhausted he would have had that neck crank in the last round. Anderson wouldn't have let him off so easily. The sad thing is, as good as Sonnen looked, he's probably going to get toyed with then brutally KOed by the Spider assuming that's where the title still is.

Couture took a few punches that would have been bad if that was

I wasn't on the Marquardt bandwagon to begin with...I thought he would beat Sonnen, but a shitload of people think he would beat Anderson in a rematch, and I thought they were crazy before Saturday night. He almost got finished by Wilson Gouveia, who is complete garbage, and he "lost" to Leites. And how do you train with GSP and Rashad Evans, and have zero takedown defense?

Couture looked good, but that's mostly because Coleman looked like a zombie. I love Randy, but if he fights Shogun, Machida, or Rampage, he is going to get hurt badly.

I was really impressed with Paulo Thiago, that's 2 top 10 WW he's finished in less than a year. I could see him fighting for the title after 2 or 3 more good wins.

My UFC 110 picks are

Nog
Wanderlei
Stevenson
Ryan Bader
Cro Cop

Might not be broadcast. I'm going with
Krzysztof Soszynski
Chris Lytle
Goran Reljic
Igor Pokrajac

What are yours?

Sucks that I'm not gonna be able to watch it until 1:00am EST unless somebody can hook a brother up with a link.

Spoilers:

GREAT to see Wand get a win, Bisping is really lucky soccer kicks and stomps are illegal, Wand had to stop himself a couple of times, haha.

But damn, Nog got KTFO BAD. That was terrible to watch.

Good fights I really wanted to see Nog win.

Wandi kinda looked like that Cyborg chic about the face. He pulled off a soccer kick to the chest at one point. Hopefully he'll be doing them vicious attacks to the body of a downed opponent now that he can't do 'em to the head.

I was glad to see Crocop win but not so happy they fed him a bum.

Holy fuck them Aussies are loud.

Random question: is Keith Jardine done? He hung in there fairly well, but the end result was the same. Loved the guy, but I'm beginning to think he doesn't have much left.

However, you can have a fun drinking game based on him. Whenever he fights, down a shot whenever Rogan or that other guys says "unorthodox." You'll be plowed by the end of the first round.
