"I maxed out my credit cards during the NIN/JA tour (I did 21 shows), had no job when I got back, and lost my cellphone due to an outrageous bill from roaming and intl. text charges, so I've had to do these things:

- Not make payments on any of my credit card bills, missed a student loan payment, neglected the insane phone bill, other misc. payments missed. I was ready to make a payment on one credit card to keep it in good standing and so I could buy tickets during the regular sale date for Chicago, but then the regular sale date disappeared.

- Sold my violin.

- I still live at home. I was looking into finally moving out last year, but then NIN started touring North America again. My mom actually just argued with me about how I've "ruined" my life. She doesn't even know I'm going to Chicago.

- Currently I work at a fast food place, and they are actually giving me full-time hours. I wasn't having luck getting a job right away when I got back from the NIN/JA tour, but I knew if I went to this place they'd hire me the next day, and that's exactly what happened. I don't intend to work there when the tour is over, I'm sure you can figure out why. When I see people who I know come in there, I actually hide, because I'm embarrassed to work there.

- I walk everywhere, instead of taking the bus.

Not a NIN fan, but I got to admit the fans are the classier ones out of this. No one said anything (good or bad) for awhile when he announced this fake "engagement" and he insulted the fans daily till he got the reaction he wanted.
He revealed his "I'm richer, more famous, and better than all you" attitude for months on several boards. He also showed himself to be a perpetual liar, and rubbing it in the poor fans faces that he lives in a 5 million dollar home in a gated community in Beverly Hills, and how Mariqueen drives a new mercedes, and she can buy whatever she wants all on the fans money. Didn't he say in an interview he wanted to punch his fans with "fat titties."
He also blamed fans for writing horrible things when it was really him and tried to get his fans to turn on that girl Veronica De La Cruz who acted out of love and had genuine intentions of saving her brother. Then saying bad things about the people who work for him that they haven't done enough.

Then when he relases music online, he acts like he is throwing the fans a bone and they should be grateful forever for it, when it's really just his media marketing strategy.

Both you and RichardL make very good points, especially the one about the Q egging him on to some degree to show his ass, when she perhaps noticed he wasn't doing too well mentally AND the whole bit about the vacation - I've been saying that since the beginning.

One thing - NIN is his baby - he conceptualized it, built it from the ground up ( with the help of certain people he chose not to give credit to)...When you destroy the office on the last day of a "horrible" job, it wouldn't be the office of the company that you own, right? That would be dumb.

I've yet to understand why he would run the brand into the ground so thoughtlessly - hock a giant cosmic loogie on his life's work for, well, whatever reason he had to do so...there's no doubt about it, he totally took a giant shit on his own lawn.
