"The Republican Response" on NBC now...
I don't really see the point, but damn if this Bob McDonnell guy doesn't look Presidential himself.

What was his reponse? "Obstruct, obstruct, block, obstruct, make gains in November, obstruct, etc. etc."?
Or did he actually propose any solutions for anything?

Didn't Obama get his first big-time exposure in a response speech?

Don't think so. He got his first big-time exposure during the 2004 Democratic National Convention, when he wasn't even a senator yet.tin00can wrote:Didn't Obama get his first big-time exposure in a response speech?

It was the same "rah-rah" crap that Obama did but with a Republican slant. I didn't really see the point, but whatever.Ugmo wrote:What was his reponse? "Obstruct, obstruct, block, obstruct, make gains in November, obstruct, etc. etc."?

There really is no point except that probably as long as the State of the union Address has been broadcast, the opposition party has demanded airtime for a rebuttal. The whole equal time argument.
"Looks Presidential", eh, Jake? So anybody that looks good in a suit, you're ready to buy as President?

Mitt Romney looked more Presidential than any other candidate last year. You saw how that worked out for him.lerxstcat wrote:There really is no point except that probably as long as the State of the union Address has been broadcast, the opposition party has demanded airtime for a rebuttal. Mitt?
I thought Huckabee owned his ass in every way, shape or form.

Not when you're talking about "looking good in a suit". Huckabee is an engaging politician, but he looks like the love child of Ross Perot and Ron Paul.VinnieKulick wrote:Mitt?

Actually my favorite politician running in 2008 was Alan Keyes.
(Until he went birther on everybody)

Oh I voted for Huck in the primaries, don't get me wrong.VinnieKulick wrote:Mitt?

But Romney has the "look," no doubt about it. I would have loved a Huck/Romney ticket.

I'd much rather have Pawlenty/Duncan Hunter myself.

Duncan Hunter was the one who I always got on those "which guy is the right candidate for you" poll things.
