I salivate at the thought. Looking at the quotes though. It seems like a ploy to get an extension, or he's saying he's 37 and coming off a down year after a steroid scandal, and is hinting at he won't be extended and is considering retirement.

Boston still wont issue #24. Remember that was Dewey Evans number too. So I'm thinking that maybe, there's a retirement celebration or something. Hopefully the best RHH I've ever seen comes back.

Plenty of games.
Appears that MLB Network is planning to televise games live and on same-day "tape delay" as well this Spring.

Not sure if any other team will be featured more or not.

They'll play more MFY games I believe because they're the defending champs. There is 30 teams in 30 days though, so every team's ST will be featured.

that is a very, very big park
no more short porch in RF or shorter than usual porch in RC for Damon.

i don't think his numbers will rival his days as an oakland a, but i believe he will struggle and not be consistent all year long.
especially if the tigers are competitive.

I think he'll hit about .265, 15 HR, 60 RBI. Splitting DH/LF with Carlos Guillen, that's gonna be a lousy defender in left every day either way.

Truthfully I think he will wind up playing more LF than Guillen does, what with Guillen's leg problems. And that's not good.

Tigers look awfully stupid for trading Granderson (who even in a horrible year last year basically eclipsed those projected numbers) and adding Damon at roughly the same cost.

Opening day is a month away, and the Mets are already falling apart.
A giant piece of the marquee Citi Field sign came crashing down on Jan. 25 -- more evidence for beleaguered Met fans that the sky really is falling.

The cover of the sign's C flew off and plummeted nearly 200 feet to the empty seats below, sources said. The sign towers over center field and is the centerpiece of the year-old stadium.

The Mets blamed the mishap on heavy rain and gusty winds.

Using language better suited to describe an Oliver Perez home-run pitch, team officials said the sign "fluttered to the ground."
But the source said the C plunged faster than the team's position in the standings last season.

Man, when he wasn't injured Escobar was nails. However, it is pretty obvious the dude is done. I can see taking a flier on him, but projecting him as your set-up guy? Wow.

A.J. Burnett is working on his "change-up" this spring.
Never knew he had that pitch to work on.



Burnett spent the winter trying to improved a changeup that he has thrown “very occasionally” in his career. He threw nothing but fastballs and changeups today, and said he will probably throw nothing but fastballs and changeups through his first two or three starts of the spring.

“Watching CC throw last year, being a power guy and how much he uses it, just kind of opened my eyes a little bit,” Burnett said. “Why not work on something.”
