Jennifer's Body which was stellar mainly because of Jennifer's Body. She didn't get naked though and I have no clue what she is trying to prove about herself that way.
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
World's Greatest Dad - 7.9/10. I thought the first act dragged a bit, but outside of that I really liked it.
Re: Rate the last movie you saw
State of Play - 6/10 - I was more into the acting of Rachel McAdams and Helen Mirren then the story line, Russell Crowe did a good job it's just too bad Ben Affleck didn't die a harsh death in the first few seconds.

Purple Rain (1984) - 8/10
Came on last night and, like Road House, if its on I will watch it.

I saw The Informant last night. Matt Damon plays Mark Whitaker (sp?), a seemingly inept informant for the FBI. I don't want to give anything away because the movie is relatively new, but I'll just say aside from Damon's performance, the movie kinda sucks.

Hadn't seen this since it was on its theatrical run... cool enough flick despite some plot holes large enough to drive a truck through

Rudo y Cursi - 5/10 - Mexi subtitled flick about brothers rivaling each other in professional soccer, Nothing special. Same two guys from "Y tu mamá también" except this time they didn't fuck each other at the end of the movie.
Das Experiment - 6/10 - German subtitled flick based on the Stanford Prison Experiment in 1971. An interesting story but the movie was semi lack luster, I'd like to see the actual film from the experiment. There is another film do out in 2011 based on this story.

Rewatched the 1979 Dracula film, starring Frank Langella and Lawrence Olivier and directed by John (Saturday Night Fever) Badham. Very much a 'Disco Dracula' in terms of Langella's Tony Moreno-like appearance, but a nice atmospheric film, 6.5/10

The Wolfman (2010). 7/10. Scenery and atmosphere were top notch, reminded me of a Hammer film at times. Liked the bi-ped wolf as opposed to the wolf on all fours werewolf . I did expect the transformation scenes to be better. Thats my only gripe. I hope they release an unrated version on dvd.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
last Saturday I watched two movies:
Cop Out - 7.5/10 and that's only because I'm a big Kevin Smith fan, not quite a nutswinger, but a big fan, it had it's flaws, the pacing was off, and while I like Tracy Morgan, he was about 15% too over the top, visually, it was obvious Smith was way out of his comfort zone, it wasn't distractingly bad, just not great. The best performances came from the supporting cast, Guillermo Diaz, Susie Essman (playing the same bitchy character she's so good at) Jason Lee and Sean William Scott
Crazy Heart - 8.5/10 Bridges was great and will win the Oscar, the movie itself was slightly above average and the ending was just so so, but Bridges, Robert Duvall, and the music itself, which, if not done right would have sunk the movie, made it worth watching

Un prophète (A Prophet)- 8.5/10. Well-acted, nice-looking foreign film with a pretty captivating plot. It was a bit long, but still enjoyable and I'd recommend it if you like crime films or whatever.

Diario de una ninfómana - 7/10 - "Diary of a Nymphomaniac" is a Spanish foreign sex film that's well directed, well written and includes an actress who's beautiful and absorbing. For what it is I can see both men and women liking this flick. Basically it's watchable softcore.
This review sums it up fairly well.
This movie is realistic, cruel, provocative and sexy but at the same time so very elegant and pure. Belen Fabra is a wonderful actress who is one hundred percent suitable for the role and she is the reason I liked this movie so much. She gives a magical sense to it. She makes you feel whatever she feels. The directing is unique and although the movie presents a lot of "raw material", for some reason,it is so delicate and sophisticated. It's not an other (soft) porn movie, it is a movie which conveys some of the greatest values in life and presents them in a way we have not been used to seeing. This is what makes it so special. I strongly recommend it to mature and open-minded audiences, with a hard stomach.

Quarantine - 6/10.
Slow start, lots of "you've got to be kidding me" moments but surprisingly intense.

Couples Retreat
2/10
I only give the movie a 2 for the multiple scenes that feature slender ladies in panties/bra.
I laughed once.
Only once.
Not sure how this movie was given a green light after filming. Should have been canned forever.
Everybody involved should be embarrassed(minus the ladies and their fine physique).

Just checked out Frederick Wiseman's Titicut Follies from 1967. Great footage of a Massachusetts hospital for the insane... unsettling and fascinating. The courtyard scenes where the inmates were away from the pestering guards and the sometimes cruel treatment were particularly interesting. As far as a rating, I'd go as high as a 9.

I watched The Filth and The Fury for the second time last night. A very fascinating look at The Sex Pistols. 9.5/10

Gran Torino - 8/10. Good film for Clint to go out on. Got a little choked up at the end.
No Country for Old Men - 100000/10. The best movie of the last 20 years IMO. I've seen it probably 50 times, and every time I pick up something new, or find a new way of interpreting something in it. Anton Chigurgh is one of the greatest movie villains of all time.

I wouldn't watch that movie if i got a hold of a screener, wouldn't waste my time. I hope a chick dragged you there or something. I can't believe the buzz this movie is getting, it's the same fucking shit that burtons been doing for years people! He wierds up johnny depp, gives him a fucked up "quirky" accent, throws his bobble-headed wife in it and people are there to eat it up. Ohhhhh it's from the imagination of Tim Burton, Don't we all know what the fuck his imagination is capable of giving birth to by now? what's next? i'm guessing a re-imagining of peter pan or a tom sawyer/huckleberry finn.IDIAMINDADA wrote:Alice in Wonderland....Go fuck yourself/10
Alice in Wonderland was like Tim Burton putting his scrotum on my eyes, and Johnny Depp pushing his ass, and him rubbing his flacid penis, up and down my forehead smearing me with vinegar smelling precum, while Helena Bonham Carter did impersonations of one of the Monty Python guy's in drag for 2 hours. That movie gave my imagination leukemia of the ass. I hope Tim Burton falls in a bucket of feces and lives there from now on. Jan Svankmajer, you have nothing to fear.

My expectations were too high, I think, because it was a cute movie that left me wanting. Bill Murray was the highlight.
