Possibly. I need some pop in my lineup, but I wouldn't pay an arm and a leg for him given his injury history and declining stats. I can't access YahooSports from work, but I assume he qualifies at 1B and not just the Utility spot?

I might give up an outfielder for him (not Bay or Kubel), but not a quality closer or starter.

Yeah, he's a 1B per Yahoo.

I dunno, this is the thing I can't stand about autodraft. I've got so many guys I would have NEVER drafted.

Matt Kemp in the first round? With like the 6th pick? WTF?

I know - I'm with you. You can do pre-rankings, but they only help to a certain point. I got Kinsler in the 1st round, but considering I picked 16th I guess getting the 2nd best 2B out there isn't so bad. They should have a mechanism to balance out positions though. I mean, once the system sees that I have Halladay and Carpenter, does it need to draft Burnett and Lilly for me? Same with Rivera and Papelbon. I would rather had a better 1B than Helton and a better 3B than Gordon Beckham (though he's going to be a dandy I think).

The only good thing for me is that we have more pitching stats than hitting and I have the makings of a strong staff. If the goal is to win 6 categories per week, I can probably do that. It just bores me that my offence is pretty sterile and won't be very fun to watch/root for.

Jake/Pat - I just sent you some trade ideas via e-mail. Let me know what you think. I won't be around tonight, but maybe we can iron some things out tomorrow.

Ahhhhhhh not so sure I like the draft running early

But I have three of the top 1B in Fielder, Gonzales and Dunn, so I know who to deal to shore up pitching and middle infield.

Yeah, auto draft is a shot in the dark. Usually I will prerank a couple of position players but this year I just let it ride. So I can't complain too much. A decent core to start with, but definitely gonna have to crank on the waiver wire. And I am off to a late start....

Check out my team (Canuckle Balls). I can trade you a stud pitcher for a stud 1B.

I will be reviewing the trade proposals in the next few days. Had a pretty busy weekend. Surprised I was able to get Aroidis Chapman off waivers in the initial period.

That's what having a good waiver number will get you. I got 2 of my 4, Chapman was #1 on my list. I'm surprised he wasn't drafted at all, honestly. I totally forgot about him.

Hey, I managed to snag two closers that somehow passed through waivers unscathed. Not that they're great or anything, but to go from no closers to two was pretty good. (Capps & Jenks)

I passed on Jenks because of his perennial velocity and injury questions, but missed Capps too. I'm so obsessed with getting my middle IF squared away I've been missing out on some good pitching.

I saw them sitting there, but decided against lockin up too many roster spots with closers.

Re Chapman - there's rumors, that for $/bonus reasons he won't be with the Reds until May 20. Still, his stuff seems unreal and he's well worth the pickup.

I was shocked Ryan Franklin wasn't drafted and got him with the 1st overall waiver pick. Motte has looked good this spring, but the job is still Franklin's to lose. There were a lot of closers available. Jenks, Capps, Matt Lindstrom who just got picked up after winning the job in Houston; and you just have to know there will be some changes at the position in the first couple weeks of the season.

I was happy to get Liriano. He's looked great this spring - now the question is: can his arm hold up?

Still looking for a 1B. Cruddy - I sent you a message about Joey Votto.

I've had some requests to renew the 2nd league we had last year. Personally, I don't have time to manage 2 Yahoo leagues and the points league I'm in with my buddies (for $). Not to mention the job, wife, kids, the odd concert, et al.

If anyone else wants to set-up the 2nd league, go ahead, but I'm passing on it this year. Sorry guys.

Some nice trade action going on. Good stuff guys.

Anyone have a 3B they're willing to deal? I can give up-and-comer Gordon Beckham, and a SP, for a good 3B and a lesser starter.

Interested in Mikey Lowell? That's one of those autodraft moments where I said "What the fuck?"

I said a good 3B. And I just noticed I can pick him up off of waivers if I want.

Yeah, good old auto-draft. For shits and giggles I look at how the draft went. At least once or twice I see who I got, and who went right after, and then curse Yahoo for like an hour

I need one more hitter guys.

I have a nice starting pitching contingent: Halladay, Carpenter, Burnett, Lilly, Scherzer, and Feldman (maybe even Liriano too). I'll trade a pitching stud for a hitting stud. I'd prefer a SS, 3B, or OF.

C'mon guys, there are deals to be made. We need to kick WhiteHouse/Pat's ass!

If you keep accumulating first rounders for peanuts, then we are!

I had to vote against that trade. I know people sleep through this league so it'll ultimately go through, but that's a ridiculous trade.

Come on, it's not like I was the only suitor for these guys. I know that both of the teams I made deals with had other action on the table. I see a need, I see your need, I talk. It's the American way!!

Oh I'm not begrudging you, but I seriously had to blink 3 times and rub my eyes like in the cartoons when I saw somebody was giving up HANLEY RAMIREZ for Cliff Lee and Erick freaking Aybar.

I offered Scutaro and AJ Burnett for Ramirez and Rich Harden. That was just a starting point, but I never got the chance to negotiate.

Maybe he thought he was trading Manny Ramirez, or Alex Ramirez, or maybe Twiggy Ramirez....

Jake - damn you and your encyclopediac baseball knowledge. I was eyeing Jason Heyward, from the Braves, for the longest time. I was afraid to drop Josh Willingham for him, finally was ready to do it, and saw that he was snatched by you!

It's so funny because I'd not heard of him, and the Tigers/Braves game was on. The announcers were talking him up pretty good, then I see that Jake grabbed him. Doing your homework helps in all aspects of life, kids!
