Question for Boston Area Sludgers

Post by djwill665 »

Possibly coming to your neck of the woods in May...so while I'm there...

Please gimmie the harsh reality of how hardcore Sox/Yanks tix are to get. :D

(From Primo to nosebleed bleachers to the Green Monster)

It'll be my first time to Fenway but I can always hit a local sports bar. :D

p.s. Assuming Celtics are deep in the playoffs by that point gimmie your take on them as well. Thanks.

I don't live there anymore, but I can tell you that. You can score tix for the games. There are a lot of scalpers ( on the street and online ). So you can get a $12 bleacher seat for about $120-150. Actually you can score any seat, just be willing to pay. If you thought it was overpriced before, you're in for a plesant reality check. Monster seats?Good luck.

Sox ticket sales on the secondary market have been pretty soft this year. Right now you can score bleacher seats for the Sox/Yanks for $75. Those will probably come down some more, especially if the Sox come out slow.

You can get into a Celtics game during the regular season for $20. Playoffs I guess you could triple that amount.

There are a ton of deals on account of the recession. Scalpers are losing their shirts.

Hope so. Not looking to drop a C-note or higher....just woud like to hit both locations if schedules permit and sit wherever. I have no "horse in the race" just as a sports fan the chance to scope 2 legendary locations.

They were advertising ticket availabilty for April/May games last night. You might be able to score a single for face value on their website. They do release tickets at random times as well.

Main thing with the scalper's around here is to set your price right away. They might walk away at first, but will not forget you and track you down later if it looks like they're going to be eating some tickets. When they approach you a second time, 9 times out of 10 they will offer to sell it to you for $20 or so over what your price was. I always re-state my price and say something along the lines of "that's all I can afford. I was just hoping to get lucky. I just really want to see the band/game. Aw shucks." I would actually say you're from out of town and really just wanted to see Fenway and blah, blah, blah. 9-10 they will sell for your original price. Always make them feel like they're in control the whole time and you're just an awe-struck fan living on a dream with no money. I've seen people talk down to scalper's and be all abrasive in the negotiations, and that's when you're fucked. It's the same group of guys from South Boston selling at most of these events. They can't trade tickets for blow for a game that's already been played, so any amount will do at that point.

thats the way I look at it too, but their response to that is "I'd rather write it off than sell it for a low price"

is that true, or are they just bs'in me?

Will, it's worth the price to get in there. I've been to a lot of stadiums, and Fenway is an oasis. Just beautiful.

I find they're usually BS'ing you if they have extras. Fans with extras will sometimes eat them instead of selling at a loss. As long as your not an asshole and make it appear that's all the money you have, it usually works. The tickets are worthless once the game starts. I scored tickets for $20 on the glass for a sold-out Bruins/Rangers game a couple of weeks back. The tickets said "Bruins Charitable Foundation." I think a lot of these tickets are handed down to them for free, so anything is a profit by the end of the night.

Any scalper who can get anything for Bruins tickets at this point has to be psyched about it. They aren't worth the paper they are printed on. After he got your $20 he probably thought to himself "sucker".

I wonder if Jacobs knows about the charitable foundation? No way that cheap motherfucker gives anything to any cause if he isn't getting paid at least face value for it. Neely and his kid are probably doing it behind his back.

And in typical Bruins fashion this is what they will do to Rask:
1. Not give him enough offense to win games but praise him for his goaltending keeping them in games
2. Not give him any help defensively and let him face 40 shots a game
3. Give him a big contract and then wonder why they aren't winning more games even though they have no talent around him
4. Watch as he becomes shell shocked and starts letting in soft goals.
5. Blame him for their problems
6. Trade him for pennies on the dollar
7. Fire another coach

I've been watching Jacobs do this shit to every goalie that has worn a Bruins sweater since Gilles Gilbert. Peters, Ranford, Moog, Casey...it's a long list.

I was in Boston during the All-Star break a few years ago. I took the guided tour of Fenway for about $12 and it was well worth it. It's about a 90 minute tour, delivered by ballpark employees who are hardened fans (Ted Williams, best playa evah, nawt evan a debate). Got to go to the press box, the alumni lounge, the seats on top of the monster, a few different places in the stands. I'd recommend it to anyone who just wants to soak up Fenway. My wife knows nothing about baseball and she even enjoyed it.
