Nah, he slipped right under the radar for me. All the Strasburg and Chapman pub must have clouded my vision....JakeYonkel wrote:Don't hate the playa, hate the game, bitches.

Plus, I had a couple of those whiz kids on my roster last year in Cameron Maybin and Colby Rasmus, and they did squat for me. I'm already rolling the dice with Casey McGehee (though he is probably expendable now for me) and Wade Davis.

Re: It's that time of year... Sludge fantasy baseball!
I had delmon young last year, heard he lost weight so grabbed him again this year, but he's been horrible in ST so after our trade(i'm assuming it was you who i just traded with considering the name, i dropped him to make room for lee who looks like he's headed for the DL. I do this every year I trade away a big talent every year because i think they're gonna get hurt, it worked great a couple years ago with Ortiz, but fuck it. I'm sacrificing alot of pop by giving up Hanley but My pitching has always sucked, hopefully lee will be good to go for his first start.WhiteHouseSubsAC wrote:Plus, I had a couple of those whiz kids on my roster last year in Cameron Maybin and Colby Rasmus, and they did squat for me. Just DL Lee and get a rent-a-pitcher, I already figured on that before you took the trade. I think Lee will come back OK.

I will, but it sounds like it's not that bad, Delmon young though, fucking gone, watch the bastard probably have a breakout year finally. as a phillie fan i hate even having mets, marlins or braves fans on my team but i would've loved to have gotten heyward as well. dude should be pretty good.WhiteHouseSubsAC wrote:Just DL Lee and get a rent-a-pitcher, I already figured on that before you took the trade. Rolling the dice with both Chapman and now Strasburg, but I am eyeing a finish better than third this year

Strasburg is starting the season in the minors, or so I read, and Chapman may do the same. They're studs to be sure, but I'm not sure they're BOTH worth tying up roster spots for if they're in AAA.McGuirk wrote:Rolling the dice with both Chapman and now Strasburg, but I am eyeing a finish better than third this year

True, but they're also trade bait down the road.WOLF wrote:Strasburg is starting the season in the minors, or so I read, and Chapman may do the same. Re: It's that time of year... Sludge fantasy baseball!
For now I'm going to chance it. 16 teams is way too deep a league to let two guys like that go by. We're very competitive, but if the rest of my team holds up then I'll sacrifice the two spots.WOLF wrote:Strasburg is starting the season in the minors, or so I read, and Chapman may do the same. Anyone having problems with the stattracker? Mine won't load up, stalls at 47%. I have a brand new comp with Windows 7, there shouldn't be any software issues.

I didn't use it last night, but I've heard Yahoo has been a little hokey lately. Give it a few days to shake out, I guess.

It's working now. Nice of them to make it free this year.

I think it was free last year, wasn't it?
Either way for the $10 I spent on it for football and baseball every year for the better part of my adolescence, I appreciate them going the free route. Then again, ESPN was probably taking away their clientele since they've always had a free stat tracker.

Not to mention that ESPN's tracker shits all over yahoo's. I guess if they improved it they'd still be charging. Whatever.JakeYonkel wrote:I think it was free last year, wasn't it?

Fuck me. I finally bite the bullet and decide to drop Vernon Wells (and his unrealized potential) for Carlos Gomez (and his steals). Lo and behold Wells rises from the dead and has 4 homers in 3 games. Here's hoping he suffers his annual major injury soon...

Edited to say I'm glad I did because Raul Ibanez is shitting the bed so far.

Re: It's that time of year... Sludge fantasy baseball!
Anyone got a good 3B to spare? I'm willing to give up a strong starting pitcher to get some offence out of the third base slot. I'm keeping Halladay, but am willing to deal Carpenter, Burnett, Liriano, Feldman, Lilly, or Scherzer, depending on the offer.

Are you interested in Figgins or Polanco?WOLF wrote:Anyone got a good 3B to spare? I'm willing to give up a strong starting pitcher to get some offence out of the third base slot. I like Polanco, but not for Carpenter. I'd probably be willing to deal any of the other pitchers I mentioned for him though.JakeYonkel wrote:Are you interested in Figgins or Polanco?WOLF wrote:Anyone got a good 3B to spare? I knew you were going to ask for Liriano. Mulling it over - he's thrown bb's the last couple of outings and I need to figure out if Polanco is for real. Glad this isn't a keeper league...

I am not feeling great about the longevity potential of the crappers at this point. Good thing I made that Votto trade early on for Paps, as was predicted, Fuentes already did time on the dl. Thanks, Canuckle.
I did beat Punk, so that's kinda special.

Re: It's that time of year... Sludge fantasy baseball!
No problem. I have loads of pitching (dominated all 6 categories every week so far), but my team can't hit worth a lick - thank god I got Votto in that deal with you. You got an extra 3B lying around?Funnelhead wrote:I am not feeling great about the longevity potential of the crappers at this point. Not at this point Wolf, as I still expect Inge to come down to earth and once he tanks I can bring Zobrist from the outfield to play 2nd, move McGee to third, and bring Theroit to ss. At that point, you can have Inge!

An early battle of #1 vs #2 for you and I this week, Jake. Good luck, should be interesting.

Re: It's that time of year... Sludge fantasy baseball!
It was a messed up week for me. Usually I'm a lock to win most of the pitching categories. I can't believe I had 0 wins! Halladay, Carpenter, et al and I get nothing. Even Mariano Rivera was horseshit for me this week.JakeYonkel wrote:Sorry I just saw this. Thanks for the luck, I guess it helped.WOLF wrote:An early battle of #1 vs #2 for you and I this week, Jake. Anyways - better to have everyone have a crappy week all at once.
Looks like the usual suspects (geeks?) are at the top of the standings - for now anyways.
