I find Mark Cuban to be one of the most annoying people in professional sports.

Re: Any Dallas Mavs Hate?
As I type this the "over the hill" Spurs are throwin' the hammer down. Mavs always choke in the playoffs. Always. They should've beaten the Heat and the Warriors in those series, but they are playoff chokers. I love it. Love watching Cubans arrogant ass look like he is agony when the Mavs do their annual choke job.

Re: Any Dallas Mavs Hate?
The last time I watched basketball the Mavs were running Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd, and Jim Jackson out every night, and they were pretty bad.
That's how I remember them.
I really can't drum up much emotion about basketball, but I always liked Jason Kidd and Shaq, and I hate Kobe Bryant.

Re: Any Dallas Mavs Hate?
Well, as much as have disdain for Cuban, he did take one of the leagues most moribund franchises and has turned them into a perennial playoff contender. They were probably the 4th most popular pro sports franchise out of 4 in Dallas/Fort Worth. Now they are second only to the Cowboys in that market. So I can't fault the guy for that.JakeYonkel wrote:The last time I watched basketball the Mavs were running Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd, and Jim Jackson out every night, and they were pretty bad.

I'd love to see the Clippers, Warriors, and Nets have similar turn arounds.

Yeah, the Clippers are awful.
That's the joke I make with my friends - when I was hardcore into basketball, like 95-96-97 era - all the teams that were bad then are good now, and most of the good teams from them are bad or middle of the pack now. The franchises kinda ebb and flow.
But not the Clippers... always bringing the suck.

Right up there with the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsrbugh Pirates on the consistently sucky list. The Clippers are probably the WORST franchise in all of pro sports.JakeYonkel wrote:Yeah, the Clippers are awful.

The look of disgust and agony on Dirk and Cubans face was priceless. Especially with the way Cuban was running his chops last week about the Mavs being the best team in the league. Fuck you all, I think the Mavs are awesome.
Dirk is a fuckin' great player. Too bad they're on the edge of eradication.

Re: Any Dallas Mavs Hate?
The Mavs will soon be the only team in NBA history that lost in the 1st round as both a #1 seed & a #2 seed.
Add in Dirks MVP when he had to show up to a 2nd round game that his team was not even playing in to accept it & you have the P4P top Choker of all time.

Re: Any Dallas Mavs Hate?
Say what you want, but Cuban's done a lot for basketball in Dallas. You have to give credit to anyone who makes their team competitive and gets a new arena built.
As for the Clippers, they're doom as long as they're playing in L.A.. They're basically the JV team because they're always in the Lakers' shadow. Why they haven't at least moved down to Anaheim and gotten some breathing space, I can't imagine.

-not only that but dallas choked away the nba championship in 2006 against the miami heat. Dallas had a 2-0 lead and homecourt advantage in that series. The mavs freaking planned their championship parade after the 2nd game!!! unfuckin real!!! ..
-Mavs looked to be on the verge of taking a 3-0 lead in game 3 but they fucking choked the game away. the Heat went on to win the next three games against mavs to win the series 4-2 and the NBA title!! LOL I remember seeing Dirk kick an exercise bike in the locker room after one of those losses.. LOL it was fuckin classic!!
- and that thrashing the 1st seeded mavs recieved by the 8th seeded Warriors in the 1st round, led by ex- Mavs coach Nellie, was FUCKIN EPIC!!! Mavs couldn't hang playing small ball against the warriors!! HAHAHA that was also Dirk's glorious MVP year!!

Re: Any Dallas Mavs Hate?
Cuban nor Dirk have been the same since they got fucked by the zebras in the Finals back in 06. I give Mark props for rebuilding the Mavs into a playoff contender, but trading away Steve Nash pretty much sealed the deal on him ever getting a ring with Dirk as the #1 guy. When Marv Albert and Steve Kerr were calling the collapse of the Mavericks in the booth, Kerr made note of Cuban's arrogance in the way he builds his teams. They've got plenty of depth yes, but not a clutch player amongst them.

Re: Any Dallas Mavs Hate?
I went to a Mavs playoffs game in '03 and under every seat in the house was a voucher for a free directv system with six months of service. You don't have to like Cuban, but no one can argue that he doesn't put his players and fans first and foremost.LAglamrocker wrote:Cuban is awesome, awesome, awesome

Re: Any Dallas Mavs Hate?
At the Bulls game yesterday, we were given a red towel to wave. Regardless of your feelings on the product arguing with a straight face the two giveaways are similar is retarded. Cuban cares more than any other owner about his fans and his players.JakeYonkel wrote:I would argue that giving DirecTV to somebody is an act of malice, not good will.
I don't know what other provider's NBA season ticket looks like, but it's fan the fucktastic looking on DirecTV. You can choose between either the home or away broadcast as well, all in HD. I like Directv.

Re: Any Dallas Mavs Hate?
Oh yeah, the MLB package on DirecTV was fantastic. It's their shady business practice and poor customer service that'll make me choose cable instead.
Besides, it's not really cheaper than cable anyway, and at least you don't lose signal in a rain storm.

Sort of... Imagine if the Mets had to play all their home games in Yankee Stadium under all those championship banners and retired numbers. That's what it's like for the Clippers at Staples Center.JakeYonkel wrote:So they're sorta like the west coast version of the Mets.Garbageman wrote:As for the Clippers, they're doom as long as they're playing in L.A.. The Mavericks are down 3-1 to the Spurs in their first round series and fans in Dallas may be beginning to become disillusioned with their chances.
Game 1 scored a combined 13.1 rating on Channel 21 and TNT locally, while Game 2 scored a 10.0, Game 3 had a 9.9 rating and Game 4 will likely be an 8.5.
The audience plummeted from 332,740 homes at the optimistic start of the playoffs to 215,900 homes for Sunday's Game 4.
