Yup. Same for the Habs. 2:00 PM Sunday. NBC cares about hockey, but only if they don't have to pre-empt The Celebrity Apprentice to do it. Totally stupid. Hockey fans like to watch the game at night; non-hockey fans aren't going to stay home and discover the game on a sunny Spring/Summer afternoon. NHL needs to learn to cater to the fans they have, and not a network that doesn't even pay them to broadcast the games (they have a "profit sharing agreement").
Now I have to hope it rains, because as much as I love the Habs, I love taking my 5 year old and 3 year old bike riding more! Fuckin' Bettman.
I wonder if the players get a say? I can't really see them being happy either.
NBC doesn't care about the fans either, I think it was three years ago they cut away from Ottawa and Buffalo just before OT to go to the Kentucky Derby pre shoe. Terrible.
It makes no sense. Cater to your fucking fans first! This really kills the whole game day experience on Saturday. We like to go out before the puck drops and grab something to eat and have a few cold ones and get psyched up and so forth. Now we have to start heading in there in in the morning for NBC during the Semi-Finals? Regular season is one thing. Not to mention the player's scheduling. This really pisses me off.

Still upset a year later I see.
That's a shame.
Hey, you still have the Lions!
Yes.
Spread the wealth! You guys have enough Cups. I'd like to see the Lions win the Super Bowl...I bet if they got Charles Rodgers, Roy Williams, and Mike Williams back they could do it.

I'm not! While I'm certain Pittsburgh is a better club than Detroit, I don't want to see them again.
No worries,Jimmy Howard's so-so goaltending was ok against a Phoenix squad without any snipers....look for him to get lit up against the Sharks.I wouldn't be surprised if "Hall of Famer in his own mind" Osgood,he of the slower than fuck glove hand, makes an appearance for the wings.

Loss had nothing to do with Halak. Habs actually outscored the Pens 2-1 5-on-5 and it was a 3-2 game with 1:30 left in the second period. Habs were on a huge emotional high after the Caps series and it's tough to switch gears so fast and prepare for a new opponent, who play very differently.
It's obvious the Habs can't take penalties against Pittsburgh - they move the puck too well and don't allow the Habs to block shots, like Washington did. Halak never saw a lot of the goals. Too much traffic and movement in front. It's good that he got a little rest with an afternon game on Sunday.
The Markov injury is HUGE for the Habs, especially with Spacek already out. Now a PP specialist like Bergeron needs to play big minutes, as does a rookie (Subban) and a gassed veteran (Hamrlik).
Look for the Habs to dress more grit on Sunday. I see both Kostitsyn brothers sitting (god I hate them), and some plucky guys like Darche, Pyatt, Lapierre, and Moen seeing ice with the Habs scorers.
Any way you slice it - the Pens are probably representing the East in the finals. Sid the Kid is hitting his stride, getting older and wiser, and preparing to dominate this league for the next 10-12 years.
Game one of round two just ended with The Flyers versus Bruins.
Oh well...not the outcome I was hoping for, but great game nonetheless. Glad The Flyers knocked the rust off, got their grit back and game legs back under them after that slow start in the first period.
This should turn out to be a great series.

Luongo was great, but the Hawks didn't show up at all last night.
Niemi made some pretty athletic saves, but gave up way too many rebounds.
Still, he wasn't the problem. Too many giveaways, sloppy defense, cutesy passes when shots were there for the taking, and no physical play until the game was out of reach.
If they play like that again on Monday, the series will be all but over.
Maybe I was too quick to criticize afternoon games. Sid the Kid and Geno Malkin forgot to set their alarms and the Habs somehow cobbled out a win in game 2.
Mission accomplished; the Habs head back to the madness that is the Bell Centre with the series knotted at 1. Props to a gassed Jaro Halak, a battered Habs D corps, and the vets up front.
Oh yeah, PK Subban is gonna be GOOD. 23 minutes in his 6th NHL game and didn't seem out of place at all.

I know you enjoyed watching that a lot more than I did.

Geno was pretty much invisible yesterday. He's been in a season long funk. The Super Bowl weekend contest in Montreal that I saw,he was uninterested, despite scoring a goal.Halak made a flurry of saves minutes after the Cooke goal that was the difference yesterday IMO. The Pens go up 2-0, or 3-0 in the 1st and the game is over.As it was Orpik didn't tie up Gionta, and the period ends 1-1.Full credit to the Habs pk(penalty kill,as well as Subban).
Nice to see Jimmy Howard hold the fort down with less than 10 minutes to go,The Red Wings probably deserve a better fate, but are down 0-2 headed home.
