Cut'n'paste from what I've received.
"courts held a further 2 week gagging order on steven gerrards private life, turns out he got his wifes sister pregnant (not 16 year old) will hit the newspaper in 14 days, the judge held the gagging order to protect FA while they decide on capello, and the future of English footy... John terry and the England boys all know about it and JT had a argument with capello because gerrard got to keep the captains armband, the tension in the camp was down to JT and half the team saying gerrard was a disgrace and the other half of the squad backing gerrard.. The press conference was related to the tension and JT wanted gerrard exposed - they hate each other..."
This would rule if it's true. I don't see why a judge would protect the FA though, or could use that as an excuse to gag the press.
Well the FA have an inquisition within 2 weeks about Capello and everything else. Dave Richards who decided to renegotiate Capello's contract just before the World Cup (taking out any break clause - DOH) has a lot of egg on his face. With all the chatter, I think it is true. I guess the FA want to get their plan worked out before all this comes out in the wash. Makes Capello's case to stay a lot stronger.
The courts probably thought nothing of a 2 week extension, as they are not stopping this forever. Just delaying the inevitable to help smooth out the oncoming shit storm.
I might be wrong but it looks as tho the fun is only just starting.
More proof that John Terry is a complete twat. While he may have a point . . . . he's not in the position to demand "equal and fair" treatment. Take your lumps, let Gerrard's shit storm take off on it's own and move on.

Very good point. Despite whatever Gerrard may have done, Terry should have locked those thoughts away and then deal with it after the WC. Selfish cunt.
Agreed about Terry. But wasn't Terry stripped because he fucked a team mates wife/girlfriend? A potential England squad member no less. Gerrard just fucked his wifes sister which among the Scousers is acceptable behaviour. If it's true I hope his wife takes him to the cleaners. And he leaves the country in shame.

Yep. The mother of Wayne Bridge's kid. It's debatable how Bridge and his girlfriend were getting on at the time but him and Terry were supposed to be mates (as well as teammates). Bro's before ho's and all that.
Gerrard has created his own shit storm if true but as he is now captain, Terry probably feels as though Gerrard has essentially done the same thing as him and therefore not captain material either.
The only losers in all this - the fans. Selfish wankers

1. If the defender merely deflects the ball, it's still offside. 2. If the decision benefits Germany, it's still offside.
I'll take the word from tv commentary from a two football coaches rather than your opinion. As for Germany, weren't you from north Africa or something.
It wasn't a deflection, the German player tried to play the ball and fucked it up to put Rooney through. That said, the video I just watched doesn't show where Rooney was at the time of the header (I think from Terry), so he could have been offside at that point.
I wasn't bothered either way between Brazil and Holland, but it did seem to me the Dutch play acted a lot more than Brazil did. Robben has great ability, but is injury prone and a cheat. Although there can be no complaints about the sending off, no matter how annoying Robben is. Brazil didn't show up in the second half. And had nothing extra when they went behind. Dunga will probably be blamed.
Heartbreak there at the end for Ghana. Not a great match from what I saw, but compelling viewing at the end.
More proof of why soccer rules suck. That hand ball by Suarez should not have been a penalty kick, it should be an automatic goal. The ball was clearly going in. They pretty much punished Ghana by making them kick a penalty in that pressure spot. It gave Uruguay a 2nd life that they did not deserve.
Perhaps they should change the rule in basketball and instead of awarding the team the points on goaltending calls, they can make them shoot free throws instead ( sarcasm).
I hear ya, but they could only have that rule IF instant replays were allowed to prove that it was handball, and was going in. Remember, the ball hitting the hand of an outfield player is not always a foul. There is such a thing as "ball to hand". Also, it happened in the last minute of extra time. It could have happened in the 1st minute of regulation time, in which case a red card would have given Ghana a 1 player advantage for the whole match, as well as a penalty kick. Giving an automatic goal, and a red card would basically end the match there and then. You can't change the rules just because it happened in the last minute.
This is why people that don't watch the game much should just shut the fuck up, instead of saying "SUCCER SUCKS".
Holland might win the World Cup if they keep playing this way. It's not exciting and pretty boring but it's been effective so far. This is the first time I see em play that way, useally they play really well and get kick out in the quarter finals or something
Germany vs Argentina should be a great game as well

Yeah, I'm sure you're up in arms whenever a defender has pass interference on a play he was beaten on. I'm sure you're equally as upset whenever hack a Shaq hits the NBA. Happens all the time in sports you like so it's acceptable I guess, just not for soccer.

Ghana made me cry today.

While I'm admittedly no soccer afficionado, that ball sure as hell looked like it was going in to me, and that panicked handball saved it for Uruguay. In basketball, they would have called that goal tending and given Ghana the goal. That's a stupid rule. There was nothing inadvertant about it. The defender made the smart play and turned a sure goal into an iffy (and as it turned out, unmade) penalty kick, but Ghana got fucked on that deal. Does officiating in soccer always suck this bad? I'm really trying to give this sport a shot, but so far, I'm spectacularly unimpressed. It's like figure skating with the officiating bias / inepptitude from what I've seen. I, and I think a lot of other Americans, have had my interest peaked with this world cup, but if this is the way this game is officiated, I'm going to rapidly go back to turning the channel whenever they mention soccer on Sports Center.
Man, what a heart-breaker for Ghana. They played harder in extra time and deserved the result IMO.
In rugby, a penalty try (touchdown) can be awarded if the other team commits a clear foul that stops what is deemed to be an otherwise certain try (ie foot-tripping a guy who is in the clear five yards from the line). That would have been a just way to deal with a hand-ball like that, although it opens up a whole other can of worms regarding replays.
Of course, if the dude hat hit the penalty he would have 9 time out of 10, we wouldn't need this discussion. I hope that red card suspension hurts Uruguay in the semis though.

It's nothing to do with officiating. The ref followed the rules, there is no rule where a penalty goal can be given in any circumstance. If it had happened a lot earlier Ghana would have had plenty of time to make their extra man tell. Unfortunately, it happened right at the end of extra time. The punishment is actually pretty severe. A penalty is awarded, the offending player is sent off and he is banned for the next game.
Is a player removed from the game in Basketball for goal tending? For the rest of the game? Basketball is all about high scoring, end to end action with a small target to aim for. It's far easier to make up a points difference than it is in soccer, especially if a team can't be reduced in numbers. So basketball rules allow adding to the score with such a foul, whereas in soccer a team loses a player who can't be replaced.

Exactly. Oh and nice one Uruguay.
Germany up 1-0.
These quarters are going well so far. All the teams I want to win are winning, plus the games have actually been pretty good.

Ho, ho, ho where's the sexx now to run his mouth? Messi was shite. That's all 3, Ronaldo, Kaka and Messi, all disappointing. Impressed with Germany yet again. They attack and defend as a team. Every time they move forward it's with numbers. I really like Mueller and Ozil as players. They have a really young squad, only 2 players over 30.
That was worse than the England mauling.
Well, a complete turnaround in this world cup. Early on, the South Americans were impressive, with the Europeans looking much weaker. Even early on though, the best Euro teams are the ones still in it. I think Spain will continue the Euro dominance of the Quarters.
