Speaking of preseason...why are the announcers/coaches talking about shaking off the rust as late as week 2? The fuck they been doing the last seven weeks?

When's the last time Packers/Bears actually mattered?

I think it was McMahon vs. Majkowski.

Fwiw....I always liked Majkowski as a quarterback He was one of those guys that had this brief window of "greatness" and took advantage of it. The rest of his career was meh, but for 4 or 5 years he was a player.

He played with serious stones. Against the Bears at least.makaveli wrote:

Not nearly as good as Favre turned out to be, but a much more likeable guy for me as a Bears fan.

That's the way I always felt about McMahon. I've never cared for the Bears. In Indy we used to have more Bears fans than Colts fans because we never had a team of our own so the older generation adopted Da Bears. That has changed as the older generation has died off and we now have people who are old enough to buy tickets who only remember the Colts in Indy. But back on subject...even though I disliked the Bears, I always rooted for McMahon just because he was this brash, fuck the world guy, which happens to be the guy I tend to root for.

Even though it's been 25 years, the two most popular sports figures in Chicago today are still Ditka and McMahon. When they show up anywhere in the city it's like a rock star has arrived.makaveli wrote:

Love Ditka. Wife and I went to Ditka's to have dinner one night and Mike and his wife were sitting in the bar. I usually don't bother celebrities, but I had spent like 300 dollars on this meal so I figured maybe I'd at least say hi. So I ask the waitress if she thought it would be okay....she laughed and said he would love it. She said that was why he sits by the door going in and out of the bar, so that whoever wants to chat or get an autograph may. Still a bit leery wife and I approach him and apologize for bothering him etc.....well the guy couldn't have been friendlier. I knew that him and I shared a favotie golf course (Wolf run here in Indy....owned by Jack Trudeau and partners) so I brought that up. Well Long story short, 45 minutes later we have to leave for an engagement so he tells the waitress to bring a plate, so here she comes from back with a fucking huge brand new Ditka's plate which has a caricature of him and he signs it and gives it too us free of charge (thing was for sale up frton for like 75.00) has his wife take a picture of us and him, which he later had sent to me. Plate picture and all is framed and in my basement......to this day the absolute nicest celebrity's and one of the nicest people I have ever met. A great great great guy.

Great story. It's like that with every single guy from the '86 team that stayed in the city. They're all very accessible and approachable. I need to find the picture of me doing tequila shots with McMichael. Here's McKinnin and I. Notice he still wears his jersey as if he's still on the damn team. A lot of them do.makaveli wrote:

I've met the McMahon's, they're all douche bags. Jim's sister is over 6' with a mouth that could swallow a football. Total bitch who was always cool to me but treated others like shit. Jim wasn't any better. Egotistical apes.

Jimmy Mac is a jagbag. Avellini is even worse. He still struts around Lincoln Park in a drunken stupor as if it's still 1979.UtahRatt wrote:I've met the McMahon's, they're all douche bags. Jimmy Clausen back on the bench. Not that it matters.
