Yeah, stupid Theo Epstein gives Lackey a long term deal, Scutaro & Cameron multi-year deals, and the one guy who he signed who was worth a shit he gives 1 year to. And now Beltre is gonna cash in.

Man, watching that last Rangers/Rays game, and I like the dude just fine, but Buck Martinez needs to shut the hell up for a minute sometime.

Out of all the signings, I was most stoked for Beltre. Cameron was brought in to try to make a ( Major League average ) CF out of Ellsbury.

Now that Ellsbury's been injured, his trade value has continued to decline....like it has since he made the majors. They're stuck with Cameron, but if the rumors are true they're looking to move Ellsbury.

Wouldn't that be nice?

Except that Ellsbury is a pussy with a low pain threshold and a shitty work ethic and the other 29 teams know it. Theo spent the first half of the season questioning Ellsbury and the second half of the season trying to spin it as a misunderstanding so he'd have at least some value. They won't get shit for him, and it's not even a salary dump because he makes minimal pay.

3 years ago he was the centerpiece in about 5 possible trades, and know he is known as a 4th outfielder/pinch runner at best. He might have some minimal value to the NL but I can't see him as being more than the 3rd guy in on a major trade or being sent for someone who is a borderline AA/AAA player.

How can anyone outside of NY City not root for the Rangers?
$206.7M payroll vs $55.1M payroll

Link: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_le ... mlb-277045

History's biggest payroll disparity between any two playoff teams becomes official Friday night when the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees begin their American League Championship Series.

A total of $151.6 million — eh, give or take a few bucks — separates the $206.7 million that the Yankees players get paid and the relatively paltry sum of $55.1 million that Rangers players take home each year.

(In comparison, the Phillies only pay their players a total of $44.2 million more than the Giants, their opponent in the NLCS.)

Of course, much of that wide deficit between the spending habits of the two remaining AL squads is due to the Yankees' famous largesse. New York has more than 11 players making more than $10 million a season — four make more than $20 million — while Texas has only one player above that threshold. (Third baseman Michael Young(notes) makes $13.1 million.)

To put it in a perspective that's even more unbelievable: Alex Rodriguez(notes) and Derek Jeter(notes) make more together — $55.6 million per year — than the entire Rangers' roster combined.

Coming from the Texas side of things, a big part of this meeting of financial opposites must be attributed to the Rangers receiving a lot of production from the fifth-lowest payroll in baseball. Yes, the Ginger Ale Gang is a group of veritable bargains.

It starts at the top. According to our pal Cork Gaines over on Business Insider, Rangers MVP candidate Josh Hamilton(notes) ranked as the second-best bargain in baseball this year, just behind Cincinnati Reds MVP candidate Joey Votto(notes).

How is Hamilton considered such a bargain? Well, he drew a salary of $3.25 million in 2010 and his WAR measured at a major league-leading 8.0 games. Because Fangraphs estimates each win above replacement is worth about $4.1 million, the website pegs his actual production at $32.2 million this year.

That's a savings of almost $30 million. Not bad.

Though Nolan Ryan and other Rangers executives should be thanking baseball's salary system for Hamilton's contract alone, they have a few more great situations to feel good about.

• Outfielder Nelson Cruz(notes) had a WAR of 5.1, but made only $440,000. His 22 homers and 78 RBIs gave him a production value of $20.4 million.

• Second-year shortstop Elvis Andrus(notes) made just a little less than Cruz ($418,000) but brought a WAR of 2.0 and production value of $8.2 million to the table.

• Second baseman Ian Kinsler(notes) had some injury issues during the regular season, but his 3.2 WAR and $12.7 million production value were a bargain at $4.2 million this season.

• DH Vladimir Guerrero(notes) was signed in the offseason for $5.5 million and his WAR of 2.6 almost means he was worth $10.3 million — almost double the check they had to write for his services.

So when we add up those four players plus Hamilton, we get 20.9 WAR and $83.8 million of value for just the real-world total of $13.08 million. That's not even counting Cliff Lee's(notes) $28 million of value for only $9 million (they split half of both amounts with the Mariners), the rest of the lineup or other pitching bargains like C.J. Wilson(notes), Colby Lewis(notes) or Neftali Feliz(notes).

As you might expect, the Yankees pay their players so much that bargains aren't really in their lexicon. A-Rod makes $33 million a season but Fangraphs had his value pegged at 3.9 WAR and $15.4 million. Derek Jeter makes $22.6 million, but his down season puts his worth at only $9.8 million. Even two of the Yankees' biggest bargains — Robinson Cano(notes) and Nick Swisher(notes) — take home a total of over $15 million, more than the five Rangers players we broke out above. New York gets what it pays for, while the Rangers had to cross their fingers that all their bargains would ring through at the register.

Of course, when you get as far as the ALCS, there's really no right or wrong way to build a team. It's safe to say, however, that the Rangers have already won the battle of bang for the buck.

Let me ask you a question, Lickety. Would your fat ass be posting an article if the Sox were playing the Rangers telling about the $108 million dollar difference? Typical bitter Boston fan.

Wonder how many rails Washington had to do during the Yankees comeback last night. Great pitching in the clutch Rangers. They pounded the 7 1/2 run over last night thanks to Texas inability to close.

A Texas vs San Fran series would be fun. I could see that matchup going 7 games. It could be a lot like the Twins/Braves series in '91.

Did that fucker really say that? How funny.

The game was over as soon as Andy gave up the 2 run homer in the first.
That was the worst way to begin the crucial game for the Yankees.

Tonight is another game.
HUGE pitching performance will be need from A.J.
Will he pitch like he did in game 2 of the WS last year or will be pitch more like how he did in game 5 of the WS last year?

Loved how TBS was showing Molina's playoff homers against the Yankees as an Angel seconds before he gave the Rangers the lead.

This series was over as soon as Girardi's dumbass decided to fuck around with the rotation and pitch Phil Hughes in game 2. What good did it do to sweep the Twins when you fuck up the rotation like that. Andy Pettitte pitches game 2, the Yankees go up 2-0 and the series is fuckin over.

Congratulations to the Texas Rangers. I will now be rooting for the Giants.

C'mon Texas! One game away.

How could a baseball fan not root for a team that has never been to a World Series? Here is hoping we get a Rangers vs Giants series. It has the potential to be a great series. To hell with TV ratings. Fox is the reason why there aren't 1:00 Saturday games.

Is Porky Pig sneering "Fuck youze!" twice to a player on the field or as a delayed reaction to the hot dog vendor shutting down his request to buy the entirety of his case?

Here's hoping the Ranger right fielder walked over to the idiot in the sideways cap in the bottom of the 9th to ask "What happened?!" much like he's doing there. If he was still in his seat at the 10-3 juncture of the game.

Deciding to pitch Hughes in game 2 was the smart move. If you knew anything about the team and previous performances, you would know this already.

I thought nycyankee was gone after Lebron decided he didn't want to swim in mediocrity his entire career, and didn't sign with the Knicks.

Oh and also. Eric Wedge was hired to be the new manager of the Mariners, and Greinke is hoping to be traded to the Twins.
