They go quick. He has five of those coming in next week.
I found a pic that was on a different site:
Hmm... haven't heard of these before. I wonder how he hasn't gotten grief from Fender for selling guitars with a Strat headstock... and isn't EVH all over guys that do replicas of his stuff? I'll be curious to know what you think about when you get it.
He doesn't make them, he just imports and sells them. China doesn't care about our patents. EVH can only claim a trademark on the paintjob, and he can't stop YOU from painting yours like his for your own use. Only if you started a production line of EVH-painted guitars and selling them could he do anything.
If this guy gets busted, the manufacturer will just find someone else to sell the guitars. The counterfeit biz in China is huge. If they had to they'd change the name too, to throw them off for awile. Ed's people abd Fender's may have even already decided they can't stop these because they've been coming in for quite awhile now. All they could ever do anyway would be to make them change the headstock a little.

What's the clean like? A lot of people I've spoken to say it sounds "sterile". I really am after a Fender clean (with maybe a hint of Vox). If there's drive, British-style drive is my pick.
Clean? What is this word?
Seriously, I usually run it distorted, then clean up at the guitar.
Drive-wise, it'll do about anything. If you run it on the 6v6 side, go cleanish with the gain and turn up the master, you can get pretty cool AC/DC ish ringy distortion...go to the El84s and bring the gain in, you get AC30....
I usually run the 6l6s with the gain a little over half and the master around 5-that gives you a nice big distortion that sags the fuck out and sounds *very* vintage when you punch it...kinda like a tweed fender being really punished ala Nuge or something.
Great little amps.
That said, the Rebel 30 is supposed to be about the same, only with two channels (one set up for clean) and 'verb. I got mine before those were out or I would have gone for that.
I tend to run my setup very clean and just use stompboxes for my drive/crunch. Glad to hear you dig yours!

You probably want a higher-watt amp for more clean headroom if you take that approach. I like a 2-channel amp with a very clean clean channel and a good drive channel as well.

I usually don't use anything over 30-40 watts, so I figured a 20 watter would be safe for home. Any recommendations?

Right now zzounds has the Jet City JCA20 112 combo on sale for $299. 3 12AX7s in the preamp, 2 more in the tube-driven reverb, and 2 EL84s for power. The demos sound pretty good on Youtube and the price is pretty amazing. It's a Soldano-designed amp. And with the head at $333 the combo is cheaper, and has the tube reverb where the head has no reverb at all.

I saw those - I'll give 'em another look. Thanks man!
Although I love my Krank Rev Jr and the Tweaker, I may have to suggest the Blackstar over all for your needs. Don't go VHT.
I had a KMAG star guitar (like the EVH shark)... I practically gave it away. McKnight Guitar in Chandler, AZ has it for $99 if you want it.

Would you mind specifically saying what was wrong with it, besides "It sucks!"? Was the action bad, would it not stay in tune? Did you try setting it up yourself at all?
Just saying, it's kinda hard to fuck up a single-pickup bolt neck guitar so bad that it can't be set up wityh a 4-way screwdriver and a set of hex wrenches unless it's just that poorly made. And I've played Chinese Squiers that were pretty damn nice once set up, so I'm curious.

Scored the head used for $149 at the local GC. Pretty cool piece, I run it into a 4x12 which might not be the best match. Going to run 2x12 this week to see how it goes. Not exactly sure what to compare it to? It does have the EL84's but I can't say it is a classic 84 amp. It does cover some Hiwatt territory which I dig, not really Vox-y which would be cool for that price.

Anyone use/try GFS Premium II Strat pickups? I dig Alnico II pickups, especially single-coils, so for the price they seem like a good shot. From demos they sound sort of close to the Lollar Blondes, but I'm not sure if that's the case in person.
Getting three new MTS modded modules this week....A Jeff Hilligan modded Snorkeler (Bogner-modified Marshall), S1S0+ (A 5150 - a three models with the flick of a switch....) and a Gigmods Mark Series with a million eq options....That one is basically a Mark IV series as I understand it....
Guitar's cool, but I had to laugh at the last line in the description (his spelling):

The frets were totally undresses, the neck needed glue from a hairline crack at the heel. The nut needed to be lowered, the Floyd was pot metal. The face was so thin, it cracked... but for $99, you can have an EVH star (w/ vinyl stripoing) and it got a halfway decent set up there.
I gave my last star-shaped guitar to DeVille to squish onstage in 1986. I think it was a good decision.
I am wanting a Brian May guitar again. This is an itch that keeps recurring. I missed one on ebay for $400 about 8 months ago, and now they hardly ever come up

Fuck. That IS nice. If it was the strat I'd be trying to figure out how to get it right now.
...still tempting...
I'd probably take it off your hands for the price, if I wasn't planning four different Warmoth builds.
