Marcus DuPree ESPN 30 for 30 premiere last night

Post by Machado »

Amazing story about a young kid from Mississippi who could have been the best RB ever, but instead made mistakes, was given bad advice and never came close to his potential.
Program was 2 hrs long.
While watching I forgot Marcus ended up playing briefly in the NFL with the L.A. Rams
Does anybody else remember that?

Very candid interviews w/Switzer in the film. Barry admits he should not have been so hard on Marcus as a freshman at OU.
Marcus admits he should have never left OU during his sophmore year. He should have listened to his mother, who never gave her bad advice.
Besides the amazing footage of him as RB in high school, there is also some great footage from his OU days, his brief tenure walking around the campus of Southern Miss and his days with the USFL(including the devastating knee injury he suffered)

That one looks pretty good. I am going to start TiVo'ing them. The one I really want to see is Four Days In October.

i always DVR the program because they are almost all films that interest me.
even the Marion Jones film last week was very well done.

besides the Marcus DuPree 2 hour film, i think my favorite was the
Two Escobars film.

I thought it was one of the best 30 30's they played yet. What a great/sad/great story it was. Was he not on one of the early Maddens back in the early 90's at RB for the Rams??

He also wrestled for the USWA back around 1995 for a stretch.

When he played for the rams, he resembled the body of a fullback and not a tailback.

I have to say, I knew about some of this story, but why was I surprised to see that all the money the USFL contract was supposed to give him he hardly saw.
What a scam. Just another athlete that trusted the wrong person with his money.

Oh Machado, he was a minister, a man of the cloth, a bufffer to keep money grubbing people away from Marcus. I would have shot that dirty motherfucker right between the eyes if he did me like that. Crook.

there have been about 3 i haven't liked, but mostly those were the ones where the topics didn't interest me as much.

i am looking forward to the one on the Miracle On Ice.

Oklahoma also gave us Adrian Peterson, and thank God for that.
