I'm half happy about the Jenks signing. At the worst he's a 2010 version of Pappelbon, but with Paps coming out in the 7th or 8th it's not that bad.Facedown wrote:Red Sox sign Bobby Jenks 2yrs/12mil.
They have also brought back Lenny DiNardo to the minors.

Lucky prick,JakeYonkel wrote:That was taken at Indians' spring training in Winter Haven, Florida (the last year before they moved out to Arizona). My son was born 5 days later so as you can imagine my wife was about to pop.
As we were waiting to meet him he said that if my wife went into labor right then and there we'd have to name the kid Bob in his honor.
I gotta hand it to the guy, he was still getting around pretty well and throwing out first pitches and shit after age 90.
And you really can't say enough about his WWII service. The guy left the game in the middle of his prime - would have won 300 games, EASY.
When asked what the greatest game he won was, he said "World War II."

That just made my day. Fucking awesome.JakeYonkel wrote:That was taken at Indians' spring training in Winter Haven, Florida (the last year before they moved out to Arizona). My son was born 5 days later so as you can imagine my wife was about to pop.

A 1 inning pitcher for 2 million a year? This is either disgustingly brilliant, or incredibly stupid. I can't figure out which one yet. The price for relief pitchers ( and frankly the selection sucks ) this year is insane.Facedown wrote:Yankees sign Pedro Feliciano to a 2yr deal.
Except this time around the other teams have the upper hand. They know NY is desperate after losing out on the big names this off season. They won't take just any old offer from NY, they will make them pay through the nose. Look at them to have to give up better and/or more prospects than they normally would and also look for them to have to eat a big contract for an underperforming player. There was a rumor they contacted Seattle about Hernandez but the Mariners have him under contract and have no reason to trade him.killeverything wrote: Since the MFY missed out on the two big FA signings, and the pool has pretty much dwindled. I think Cashman is going make a pretty big trade soon. They have the prospects, and the money to defer.
its a joke to keep stating the Yankees lost on "2" free agents this off-season.SkyDog112046 wrote:Except this time around the other teams have the upper hand. Had Crawford not signed before Lee went to Philly, you can rest assured that NY would have sent a Brink's truck to his house. Lee may have been target #1, but make no mistake that Crawford would have been target #2. It has to be killing them that Crawford and Gonzalez went to Boston and that Lee went to Philly.Machado wrote:its a joke to keep stating the Yankees lost on "2" free agents this off-season.SkyDog112046 wrote:Except this time around the other teams have the upper hand. the only player they wanted was Lee. all their focus was on Lee, not Crawford.
let's get the story right people.
Lee was the #1 target. the Yankees were not going to seriously sign another free agent before signing Lee.
Wasen't long ago I was hoping the phils would bring him in , he's inconsistant but has some pop, don't know how good he is with a glove though. I know his brother was a stud at one point but got hit with a pitch or line drive or something, can't remember his name though.MurrayFiend wrote:WTF? Blue Jays signed Edwin Encarnacion again. They can't seem to part with that guy! Apparently he's a 1B/DH now.
King Felix wanted to stay in Seattle too, he loves it there.SkyDog112046 wrote:Except this time around the other teams have the upper hand. He seemed to improve quite a bit both hitting and fielding-wise after a short stint in the minors last season. Maybe he'll have a real breakout year, who knows?dtmfs wrote:Wasen't long ago I was hoping the phils would bring him in , he's inconsistant but has some pop, don't know how good he is with a glove though. (Courtesy of MLBTradeRumors.com)The Royals are, understandably, asking for a great deal in return for Greinke. The club is reportedly looking for even more than Travis Snider and Kyle Drabek in a deal with Toronto, a package that the Blue Jays are not willing to part with regardless.
