Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
After re-watching The Rocks diatribe on Monday I realized the crowd was completely flat almost the whole time except for the cheap pops for finally the rock has come back to buffalo.
I have to say that was one of the rocks worst spots ever.
I still dont see how a Cena heel turn can benefit the WWE. Theres allready a disproportinate amount of heels to faces and no major faces besides Cena
even with the return of HHH and depending on what the wwe does with The Rock there would still be a disproportinate amount of faces to heels.
None of the second tier talents are stepping up as faces we have Morrison, Kofi, and Daniel Bryan uggg
no main eventers besides the possibilty of morrison if given the chance

I think the crowd was pissed he wasn't there in person. That was the impression I got...TRUTHABOUTCONCERTS wrote:After re-watching The Rocks diatribe on Monday I realized the crowd was completely flat almost the whole time except for the cheap pops for finally the rock has come back to buffalo.

They've got a huge imbalance of face/heels, something TNA is struggling with as well.
I still say they consolidate the entire roster into one strong brand - there's not enough people to truly get over without it feeling "forced".
It's time for a draft - those that don't get picked either go back to FCW until they build up a stronger character or they're let go to TNA land.
Here's how I'd draft one solid brand; these are the guys I see the most potential in. I'm leaving out the Divas because it really doesn't add/take away much.
From Raw:
CM Punk
Daniel Bryan
Evan Bourne
Goldust
John Cena
John Morrison
Mason Ryan
Michael Tarver
Randy Orton
Santino Marella
Sheamus (Why the HELL bury this guy week after week?!)
The Miz
Triple H
Tyson Kidd
William Regal
Zach Ryder
From Smackdown:
Alberto Del Rio
Big Show
Booker T (Bring him back as a wrestler!)
Christian
Cody Rhodes
Drew McIntyre
Edge
Ezekiel Jackson
Jack Swagger
Justin Gabriel
Kane
Kofi Kingston
Undertaker
Wade Barrett
This should come out to 30 - 16 from Raw, 14 from Smackdown.
Some of this is a repeat of a previous post I made:
Take the 30 mentioned and make them one strong brand. Turn Raw into a three hour event with the first hour focusing on the low to mid card, then run the show from 9-11 featuring mid to high card. The first hour is less talking and more wrestling - encompass the abilities of these guys and then have them graduate to promos/interviews. Make it feel like vintage Raw. From 9 PM on, focus on the promos and higher level feuds.
Set the titles as:
WWE
Intercontinental
Tag Team
Cruiserweight
Primetime Champion (to be on the line during the first hour of Raw and anytime during Smackdown)
Set Smackdown as a continuation of Raw/buildup for next week. Make sure the Intercontinental title is a solid focus of this show and don't be afraid to let some of the "upper guys" get this one to give it meaning again. Triple H took the IC title after a successful run as WWF champion in 2000.
Make each belt FEEL important - it's a belt. Whether or not it's the "big one" or a stepping stone, make it feel important. Build up matches and have lengthy feuds with the belt as the focus.
I'm still in favor of less pay per views:
January: Royal Rumble
March: WrestleMania
May: King of the Ring
July: Summerslam
September: Revolve around the "gimmick" ones - Cyber Sunday, Hell in a Cell, etc.
November: Survivor Series
In the off months feature a Raw show to be a "big" show - hype up a WWE title match or some sort of special gimmick match and make people feel like they're getting a free PPV.
Not able to focus on everyone worth a damn in 5 hours each week? How about cutting the bullshit segments or bringing back Sunday Night Heat/Shotgun Saturday Night? Give the lowest card some time to develop.
You may or may not agree with me, but I still think this is a way to freshen things up a bit, at least to tread water with the idea. It'll build up demand/numbers for a PPV and make the live shows even more interesting with everyone involved. It will also allow characters to grow as there are less people thrown into everything. Gets a bit out of hand with so many oddball guys showing up and not appearing again for weeks at a time.

Del Rio, Barrett, and Sheamus need to switch to face after Mania. Each one of these guys have that something special that separates them from the rest of the locker room.
All the monster heel heat Sheamus had is toast. He needs an injury angle at Mania and be kept off of tv until Summerslam where he can make a save on HHH or Cena. Barrett would be an easy switch as would Del Rio. I never liked the JBL character and I like it even less with a Spanish accent.

I really thought a Barrett turn was in the works once he got booted from Nexus. Turns out he just moved to Smackdown to play asshole again.MetalDad72 wrote:Del Rio, Barrett, and Sheamus need to switch to face after Mania. Del Rio is too arrogant to make the turn so quickly - he needs to win the belt and become even more smug. He'll be this generation's Eddie Guerrero.
Sheamus - it's hard to say. I've seen some interviews he's done and he comes off as a really nice guy, but because of his size he just works naturally well as a monster. This King of the Ring thing didn't help him - it made him look like a giant assclown. He should have taken time off during this and came back to destroy "King Morrison." I'm really irritated with the staff writer or road agent (can't remember his name) that doesn't like him, so he gets buried weekly. Whatever. The guy can talk, he's a great talent - he needs to get back into a belt feud; I'm hearing rumblings of a Sheamus/Bryan feud, so hopefully Sheamus can pick up a bit in the midcard.

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
On a second thought - a Barrett turn could work if he brings the rest of Corre in with him. They could all work as faces and attempt to take over CM Punk (who does TERRIFIC as a major heel) and his Nexus. I'd like to see the two groups start battling each other after WrestleMania (since it seems like each group has other plans...)
I'd like to see Otunga and McGillicutty feud with Slater and Gabriel for the tag belts, even though Otunga nor McGillicutty hold a candle to Gabriel for that matter. Michael Tarver needs to return and mix it up with someone - he was awesome.
As long as Husky Harris stays the hell away from anything - that guy flat out sucks. I saw no redeeming qualities in him at all. Otunga and McGillicutty are near that status for me as well, as is Heath Slater.
Anyway - the way they could/should work this is have Nexus crumble under the Corre at some point. Keep the tag belts with Slater/Gabriel and give Barrett a shot at the US title, just to show some dominance. Jackson remains an enforcer until he eventually feuds with Barrett for his title, causing an overall dissolution of the Corre.
I would, however, like to see CM Punk keep Mason Ryan around. Maybe give Punk a WWE title run with Mason as his bodyguard to ensure he doesn't lose the belt.

Since WWE isn't properly pushing the guy, Zack Ryder made his own YouTube channel. It is awesome. Wrestlers have a new way in getting over with social networking, whether it helps their main event status, or it helps define the midcarders.

Im still not sold on Mason Ryan. Looks like a good find but he is slow in the ring right now. He needs more training to get his tempo up. I watched some FCW matches with him from you tube and was not impressed. Somebody in the crowd can be heard saying he was all physique and no technique.

I think he could be an interesting guy if used right. Staying on as CM Punk's bodyguard allows him to earn his ranking and demonstrate his force.MetalDad72 wrote:Im still not sold on Mason Ryan. To do the same boring shit he's done since he retired, and even before that...
The same promo about how boring the WWE is, but Stone Cold says it so WWE fans listen, then he will get cheap heat off whoever he chooses that can't ever get it back off Stone Cold because he won't fucking work anymore or actually put anyone over that will make the WWE any money.
He is nice to see back every other year or so but all he does he cost the company money and character stature because no one can get any heat back from him in a positive way.
He knows how the business works, but he still takes takes takes and gives back as little as he can. That doesn't improve or help the product at all, it adds some dollars and cents to Steves bottom line.
At least in the Rock is back storyline he MIGHT let Cena get something positive from their angle.
More hot shotted, nothing angle hype with very little expected payoff...
"glass shatters", WM hype, WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAT?? Stunner, beer, Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

He didn't bury any young guys or top guys for that matter
He didn't drag out a long and boring promo like the rock did a week before
He's adding an excitement level to a match that should not be taking place at WM announcer vs announcer what a waste of time. at leasst now it will be somewhat entertaining seeing every body including the king get a stunner after his victory.
Right now the WWE is about cheap heat and pops to get the buy rate up for WM.
If they have to use proven commodities to do that it just makes good business sense to do so, this also creates a buzz for people to watch tough enough.
WWE just seems to have given up in the last couple of years. TNA is NO competiton what so ever so Vince and co have been sitting back and showing more interest in Linda's political campaign that they have the WWE product. now that that is over I see a return to the wrestling biz. HHH is back Mc mahon is back in small quantity allthough I see a return to run another angle with Stone Cold.
Reality is hitting them in the face that their product is mediocre at best as well as 90% of their talent

Re: The New (Spam Free) Never Ending Wrestling Thread
Last night's heavily hyped episode of TNA iMPACT! drew a 1.36 (1.4) cable rating (not including the overrun), the program's highest mark since January 4th, 2010. The first hour drew a 1.32, while the second hour garnered a 1.41. Impact drew 1.8 million viewers over the course of two hours. The show's overrun featuring Sting vs. Jeff Hardy drew a 1.48.
Here are the quarter hour numbers:
Q1 - 1.52 (1.5) rating - In-ring segment featuring Dixie Carter, Hulk Hogan, Immortal and Fortune
Q2 - 1.26 (1.3) rating - Backstage segments featuring Bart Scott, Immortal, The Jarretts, AJ Styles, Kazarian, Matt Hardy, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff; Beer Money, Inc. vs. Gunner and Murphy
Q3 - 1.32 (1.3) rating - Beer Money, Inc. vs. Gunner and Murphy; backstage segments featuring The Jarretts and Angelina of Jersey Shore; Velvet Sky vs. Sarita, post-match with The Shore and Angelina
Q4 - 1.17 (1.2) rating - In-ring segment featuring The Shore, Angelina, Sarita and The Beautiful People; backstage segments featuring Mr. Anderson, Eric Young, Orlando Jordan, Jeff Jarrett, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle and Hulk Hogan
Q5 - 1.36 (1.4) rating - The Jarretts' wedding; backstage segments with Hulk Hogan, Jeff Hardy, Eric Bischoff and The Jarretts; Scott Steiner vs. Rob Terry
Q6 - 1.43 (1.4) rating - Scott Steiner vs. Rob Terry; backstage segments with Ric Flair, Bart Scott and Kurt Angle; Matt Morgan vs. Hernandez
Q7 - 1.37 (1.4) rating - backstage segment with Hulk Hogan and Mr. Anderson; The Jarretts' wedding
Q8 - 1.42 (1.4) rating - The Jarretts' wedding, limo shot of boots, Jeff Hardy and Sting ring entrances
Overrun - 1.48 (1.5) rating - Sting vs. Jeff Hardy
As seen above, the show never dropped below a 1.2 and maintained their audience throughout the entire show. As noted earlier, TNA and SpikeTV are both very happy with that number considering the show went head-to-head with a UFC event and the season finale of The Jersey Shore, which did a huge number. Those two shows share the same demographic as TNA and are their main competition on Thursday nights.
