Well, gotta say, those are some pretty good matchups.chungasrevenge wrote:Matchups are set in the east. Carolina dropped a turd.

There's nothing like Montreal/Boston - I just wish we could play in a series deeper in the playoffs some time. Last year should have been that year. Seriously, if the Bruins don't trip over the Habs, as they're apt to do, this could very realistically be their year to make it back to the finals.
Now just waiting on the West. We're one Dallas non-shootout win away from the defendig champs missing the playoffs. Also, looks like we have a No Cal / So Cal Sharks/Kings matchup to look forward to. I don't think they've ever met in the playoffs before.
Can't wait until Thursday. Rumor has it that due to building availability the Habs/B's may start with 3 games in 4 nights, and 4 in 6 - Thursday/Saturday/Sunday/Tuesday!

Philly will choke probably to Buffalo, question is when will the Capitals choke?

Re: The official NHL thread
The real season begins! I'll be at the Garden Saturday night. That game better be Saturday Night and not the afternoon bullshit like the Philly series. Wolf, I heard they're doing back to back with game 3 on Sunday because of the Rush concert?
Best time of the year in sports:
Washington
Buffalo
Boston
Pitt
Vancouver
San Jose
Detroit
Anaheim
B's will play Pitt in the second round and Crosby will return from Mt. Olympus. I can see it now.

Ugggh, just got back from the Pengs game. Kill me now.
Here we go:
Buffalo will upset
Blackhawks will upset
Tampa is history
Montreal will win just because they are still pissed about about that Chara situation

I'm sure they were pretty pissed last time they played too. The B's won 7-0.Anne_Thrax wrote: Montreal will win just because they are still pissed about about that Chara situation

No biggie, I don't expect them to this year. But they're not gonna lose to Buffalo.

One of the highlights of the playoffs last year was the utter disgust that Anne_Thrax had for Hartnell's beardJohn Simon Ritchie wrote:Figures you'd chime in with your Flyers hatin' boner.Anne_Thrax wrote:![]()

I don't hate the flyers, I just hate their fans. And luckily we wont have to see Hartnell morph into cro magnon man because they are going to lose to Buffalo.pieceofme wrote:One of the highlights of the playoffs last year was the utter disgust that Anne_Thrax had for Hartnell's beardJohn Simon Ritchie wrote:Figures you'd chime in with your Flyers hatin' boner.Anne_Thrax wrote:![]()

Re: The official NHL thread
A local media type has twittered that the schedule will likely be:chungasrevenge wrote:Wolf, I heard they're doing back to back with game 3 on Sunday because of the Rush concert?
Thursday/Saturday in Boston
Monday/Thursday in Montreal (the Rush show is Wednesday the 20th)
Saturday again in Boston
Tuesday in Montreal
Wednesday in Boston
The two day gap between games 5 and 6 (if necessary) are again due to building conflicts, which is why 6/7 would have to be played on successive days.

The B's are staying in Lake Placid instead of Montreal. That has to be a first.

I don't blame them for wanting to avoid a Chara circus. Seriously, you know how nuts people here are. Even I can admit that. If I were them I would cater every meal he eats. I wouldn't be shocked if someone poisoned his food. The hate is amped up even more this year after the Pacioretty incident.chungasrevenge wrote:The B's are staying in Lake Placid instead of Montreal. Seriously though - I hope all the fans, on both sides, realize this is sports. A Dodger fan beat a Giant fan into a coma last week, an incident which led to both sides holding a moment of silence a couple of days ago, and Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt speaking to the fans aboutt he importance of letting what happens between the lines, stay between the lines.
