What was your first pro sporting event?
...that you attended??
Mine was Twins/Mariners in the old Kingdome in August of 1990. Griffey was just a pup.

Reds game in the 74 season. I was 6 so I have no recollection of who they played. Johnny Bench and George Foster homered and Cesar Geronimo had a great running catch in the left center gap to kill a rally late in the game. I remember those three plays because that's all anybody talked about on the ride home.

Mets vs. the Dodgers at Shea Stadium in '73. I got Willie Davis's autograph. I vaguely remember the whole thing. I remember the pitcher golfcarts with those giant Mets hats on top of them bringing the pitcher from the bullpen to the mound.

Re: What was your first pro sporting event?
I think it was a Raiders/Lions game in Oakland sometime in the late 70's with my Dad.

Viking at Saints 1991 I believe. Saints won 29-0 and my beloved Vikings didn't run a play past the 50 yard line all day. They did cross it once, on the last play of the first half.

Would college count for pro?
If so it was a Texas Longhorns game when I was like 5 or 6, against who I don't remember. Roger Clemens was pitching though.
I can't remember the Sox games when I was really little, because they were before then. The first MLB game I remember was the Cardinals @ SF, I was like 12.

Andre the Giant vs. Ernie "Big Cat" Ladd in 1977 when I was a little kid. That's the only match I remember. It was amazing seeing Andre in real life.

I made around $500 amercian dollars betting the underdog in the World cup soccer tournament in 2002. I bet against the home team...they were missing their best player for injury.

It was either the Harlem Globetrotters at Madison Square Garden, the Golden Gloves boxing tournament at MSG, or seeing Tom Seaver pitch for the Mets at Shea. I just cant remember which came first. I was around 6 yrs old, 1976-77.

An Orioles game at Memorial Stadium in the early 1980s. I remember Al Bumbry homered and crowd chanting "EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE" when Eddie Murray was up. I think Jim Palmer pitched too but who can remember that shit I was 7 or 8.
I loved going to those night games...they'd go nice and late. It was fun.

White Sox vs. Tigers at Comiskey Park in 1972.
Got Stan Bahnsen's autograph (just looked up his stats for '72, and he was 21-16 that year). I loved watching the game through the chain-link fence in the "picnic area" of the left field wall.

I honestly can't remember who/what I saw first: The Browns in Muni, the Cavs in Richfield, or the Reds when they had Bench and Rose...

Re: What was your first pro sporting event?
Carolina Lightning ASL soccer game in 1983. The league lasted from 1933 to 1983 and did ok in Charlotte. The game I went to probably drew 10,000 or more people.
I saw NWA Wrestling in 1984 when I finally moved to Charlotte with the main event of Ric Flair vs Wahoo McDaniel at the Coliseum.
As for my first "real" professional sporting event, I saw the Charlotte Hornets vs Atlanta Hawks on Easter Sunday in either 1994 or 1995.

It was either an Astros or an Oilers game. Not sure which came first.
