Anybody go to a UFC fight in person?
I never have, would like to someday.
Watching on tv it looks like its a good time.
If so, what fight? And how was it?

YES... And I even worked on one back before the Dana White days...
It was one of the most rowdiest crowds I've ever been in, and what you see on TV is exactly what we saw in the arena.. FWIW, I worked a Strikeforce gig last year, the one where King Mo got his ass handed to him, and that had more of a WWE feel to it..

That's the only time I've been to one too. It was at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Houston and wasn't televised or a pay-per-view.Shinerrox wrote:YES... And I even worked on one back before the Dana White days...

Dana White and his people sure have made the UFC a very exciting & entertaining sport to watch. The only criticism I have is when a fight goes the distance & its a stiff of a fight (last Machida fight) or a fight is a draw. Other than that, I'm a big fan.

I went to the Hughes vs Gracie UFC event at Staples Center... won tickets and had killer seats directly above the tunnel where the fighters entered the arena, ended up on camera several times
I was shocked at how many good looking women were there...
I also attended the Fedor vs Arlovski Strikeforce event at Honda Center in Anaheim, won tix for that too but didn't have nearly as good seats. Still worth being there though.

When the fighters do the walk to the ring as the music is playing is one of my favorite aspects of the UFC. I love going on Youtube and watching cellphone recordings of the entrances. I can imagine what its like to be there live. How did you win the tickets?doctordestructo wrote:I went to the Hughes vs Gracie UFC event at Staples Center... won tickets and had killer seats directly above the tunnel where the fighters entered the arena, ended up on camera several timesI was shocked at how many good looking women were there...

For UFC at Staples Center, a local sports talk station broadcast that the first person to show up at their studio with a Shaq O'Neal jersey won tickets... it was pretty close to where I lived at the time, and I had an old Shaq Lakers jersey collecting dust in my closet (this was when he was on the Heat so I never wore it anymore) so I said "what the fuck" and gave it a shot. Beat the second guy there by about half a minute.yeahbuddy wrote:doctordestructo wrote: How did you win the tickets?
I got the Strikeforce tix simply by entering a contest online.

Last time I checked UFC isn't a sport although it seems like that may be changing soon.yeahbuddy wrote:Dana White and his people sure have made the UFC a very exciting & entertaining sport to watch. I like the UFC too but mma was already exciting and entertaining (much more in my opinion) before they became the major organization.

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

I understand UFC is not a sport, just phrased it that way. UFC as far as being an entertainment company to promote the sport of mma is top notch, nobody does it better.mullet_head wrote:Last time I checked UFC isn't a sport although it seems like that may be changing soon.yeahbuddy wrote:Dana White and his people sure have made the UFC a very exciting & entertaining sport to watch. I'm a sucker for shit like this though. In my opinion this was the pinnacle of mma.
