I hate Doug Eddings. I don't understand how he can be so horrible and still have a job. He's the Jeff Mathis of umpires.

Scioscia picks up win #1000 as manager of the Angels. Tip of the cap to him!

Angels have a press conference tonight during the second inning of the game to answer questions about Kendrys Morales' injury and recovery or lack thereof. In case you forgot or didn't know, he broke his leg last year after jumping on home plate to celebrate a walk-off grand-slam.
If they're trying to bury this in the middle of the game, I'm guessing they're gonna say he's not back until next year.

And it's official. Keep Trumbo. Morales having surgery to remove scar tissue, out for at least the rest of the year. I doubt he'll ever be the same.

Is it safe to say no other MLB player will jump on top of home plate for any reason?
I think the guy will never come close to being the same power hitter.
His ankle will give him trouble for the rest of this life.

Overrated, horrible defensive player, who shoulda been traded in '07 when his stock was high.
Damon he ain't.
Fred Lynn he ain't.
Dom Dimaggio he ain't.
One of the most demanding postions defensively, and he's not any good at it...

I'm not exactly a fan of Ellsbury, but he is playing pretty good ball this season. He's hitting over .300, has half the team's steals, and is something like 4th on the team in HR's. He needs to get more selective at the plate and get a better jump on balls in the field, but he is a serviceable player and the team can live with his type of numbers in center.killeverything wrote:Yep.WC1 wrote:Hey, Kill your boy has a 19 game hit streak goin' ....still hate him?

I'm much more concerned with the lack of production from guys like Drew or having to send out that stiff Lackey once every 5 days.

Finally at .500. With Dice-k going tonight and Lackey going tomorrow it would be nice to come out of those games still at .500
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Derek Jeter's negotiations with the New York Yankees last winter seemed to have been Round 1 in the tense transitional relationship between the club's accomplished Old Guard and management. Jorge Posada's episode over the weekend was Round 2.
And now there may be a Round 3 in the hours and days ahead after Jeter, in his statements to reporters, essentially exonerated Posada from any wrongdoing for taking himself out of Saturday's lineup against Boston. According to sources, Yankees management was surprised and frustrated by what Jeter said -- particularly in his standing as captain -- even after Posada acknowledged that he was wrong in his actions Saturday and apologized to manager Joe Girardi.
The catcher-turned-fulltime DH, who is struggling at the plate -- he's hitting .165 and remains hitless against left-handed pitching -- was dropped to the ninth spot in the batting order for Saturday's game and asked out of the lineup because he felt disrespected.
Jeter, who is close friends with Posada and described him on Sunday as someone he regards as a brother, repeatedly deflected questions about Posada's actions, and said there was no reason for Posada to apologize to teammates for declining to play. The team's front office was so angry with what Posada did that they considered releasing the veteran immediately.
Jeter had a very different take.
"If I thought he did something wrong, I'd be the first to tell him," Jeter said in the midst of a long session with reporters.

That they do. Being a life-long Mighty Red Sox fan I've endured some BAD teams, but I don't recall ever having to deal with one as bad as Chicago.johnk5150 wrote:Is 7 unearned runs with zero earned runs a record? Cubs suck.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Milton, Milton, Milton......
The disappointing, tortured tenure of Milton Bradley with the Mariners finally came to an end Monday after an embarrassing series of events that occurred over the weekend.
Bradley was designated for assignment ... must be released, traded or outrighted to the minors within 10 days.
The moves come after the Mariners scored just two runs their final two games — both losses — against the Chicago White Sox, while Bradley generated negative headlines during all three days of the series.
On Friday, Bradley was ejected in the eighth inning of a tie game for arguing a strikeout, leaving the Mariners with a short-handed bench that prevented them from pinch-running in a key situation. Bradley was booed after failing to get to several balls hit his way Saturday. Then on Sunday, his poor throw led to a disastrous chain of events and two critical Chicago runs on the same play.

You know you fucked up when the fucking Chicago Cubs had something figured out before you did.

The Red Sox are back in the mix. 24-10 isn't bad after a 2-10 start. Looks like the AL East can be a good 3-way race from here on out.
