People living in Vancouver wouldn't do that to their own city. These losers weren't from here and treated Vancouver as though they were trashing some strangers house at a party
Abbotsford? Surrey? Mission?

Places like that you reckon?

I reckon a good portion were from those areas, but of course i'm sure there were people from all areas of Great Vancouver involved. I know all my friends who were living downtown were pissed off and avoiding it at all costs thats for sure.

I was watching the live stream over the net most of the night and it wasn't a few.
You have to use your fingers AND toes to count. Its was a mobs with a drunken mob mentality. I didn't realize that Vancouver was over flowing with anarchist. Is it some sort of headquarters? In Boston we've seem to have an influx of Brazilians, but I wouldn't call them anarchists, just shitty drivers.

By the way- I was in the North End after work and Chara, Lucic, Horton and Marchard had the cup at Tias on the waterfront. Got to ttouch the cup. :D
That really is the most beautiful sports trophy there is. I have now touched every major sports trophy. That was the last on the list

In comparison to how many were downtown and who support the Canucks then it was a 'few'.

Plus as I already said a lot of the crowd were just watching the events take place and following with their cameras and phones.

On this board?

Because a lot of people outside of Vancouver were cheering for Vancouver. 77% of Canada for example were.
yes, most of canada was cheering for the Canucks because they were a canadian team, while it was not that was in America for Boston. I wanted Boston because Tim Thomas is cool as fuck and he is an American. I like american players. Ryan Kesler is another favorite of mine. But he plays with a bunch of diving douchbags.

the riot had nothing to do with the hockey game. it would have happened even if the canucks won.

the ringleaders of the riot have been identified as being from seattle, portland, toronto and montreal. it's the same group of terrorists that showed up at the olympics and at the G20 summit.

they show up to cause shit and try to let mob mentality rule.

there were over 100,000 people downtown. there was aboot a thousand people directly or indirectly involved with the riot. canuck fans don't go to watch a game with molotov cocktails and lighter fluid.

there were over 8,000 volunteers that showed up today to clean it up.

and why won't any boston fans acknowledge marc savard getting busted for biting players? TWICE.

Lots of truth in this editorial..

"This is why Canada rejected the Canucks"

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL/Pl ... 94986.html

EDMONTON - And now, Vancouver, do you understand why the nation never endorsed or embraced the Canucks as Canada's Team?

Canadians didn't like the team, didn't like the organization and they especially didn't like the fans.

As it worked out, Vancouver's off-the-ice losers did a wonderful job taking the focus off Vancouver's on-the-ice losers. Only positive you can find.

Harsh? To the hockey club, certainly. To the obviously significant percentage of people who poison the the population, not a chance.

Regardless, from now until Grey Cup week in Vancouver and beyond to next year's playoffs, we're left to contemplate the mental

make-up of a town and a team.

What happened in Vancouver Wednesday in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final cannot be written off as a team simply making it all the way to the last game of the final and having the misfortune of having some bad puck luck and running into a hot goalie and losing it. Not when you are outscored 21-4 in the final five games after surviving similar scares against Chicago and Nashville.

And what happened afterwards, in a riot which ranks in the worst in pro sports history, can't be brushed off as a few bad apples and not real hockey fans.

The Vancouver Canucks are a team with 41 years of failure which is going to have a hard time going forward knowing that their best players, a goalie who is signed through to 2022 and twin talents, back-to-back Art Ross Trophy winners and maybe Hart Trophy winners, can't be counted on in the clutch.

Maybe they fire the coach. Maybe they change the mix to add toughness and get rid of the soccer-style divers, finger-biters and whiners. Maybe they change the numbers so that someday there will be more Canadians on their roster than on every other team they play. Or maybe they do nothing. Maybe they go back and just hope it's not the Boston Bruins in the final the next time or that the attrition takes its toll on the Eastern Conference winner next time. (Odds for next year's Stanley Cup winner by Bodog came out Thursday and listed Vancouver at 5-to-1 favorites to win.)

Whatever they do, it won't change the way the nation views the fans, now.

Of course, it isn't all the fans.

That's what's so sad.

Vancouver wears it because the easiest prediction to make was that there would be a post-game riot, win or lose. And Vancouver wasn't prepared to stop it.

Like the Canucks, who told us again and again that they'd learned their lessons, Vancouver claimed they'd learned theirs from 1994. Neither learned a thing.

It wasn't just the idiots who rioted. Reaction from the exceedingly large lunatic fringe of fans from the other side of the mountains was unbelievable via Twitter, email, etc. throughout the playoffs. Rude. Obnoxious. Begging to be blocked. These are the same people who harbour conspiracy theories, who reportedly threw projectiles at Gary Bettman on the ice during the Stanley Cup presentation and one who shouted out while rioting that "this is all Bettman's fault!"

It ended with Vancouver owner Francesco Aquilini telling multiple members of the media in the Canucks dressing room to go fornicate elsewhere.

The Canucks organization, when reported to be attempting to sell the rights to their Stanley Cup parade telecast after Game 5, added greater numbers to the ABC community.

Not hockey fans? Usually that's the case.

But there were so many Canuck jerseys on the rioters in this one, they're hard to ignore.

And Vancouver is a repeat offender dating back to a Grey Cup riot in the 1960s, the 1994 riot, a riot early in the Olympics and one which seemed ready to break out several other nights, prevented mostly by cutting off liquor store sales downtown.

Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and a city which overall managed to make Canadians very proud in playing host to the Olympics.

I don't know how much money the citizens of Vancouver and British Columbia invested in the Olympics, but they received full value for it in 2010. And then they did this to themselves in 2011 to spoil the image around the world in one ugly night.

You'd love to say that all those volunteers who showed up to clean up the riot scene Thursday morning made up for it all, but they didn't.

It's Vancouver's shame.

I'd be rioting if my team had Luongo signed for another 11 years:

"If we were ever going to do [a long-term deal], this is the guy to do it with," Gillis told ESPN.com on Wednesday. "You look at the position and the fact that in all likelihood he's the best player at his position currently in the league. To purchase his prime time is something we had to do."

2010-11 -- $10 million
2011-12 -- $6.716 million
2012-13 -- $6.714 million
2013-14 -- $6.714 million
2014-15 -- $6.714 million
2015-16 -- $6.714 million
2016-17 -- $6.714 million
2017-18 -- $6.714 million
2018-19 -- $3.382 million
2019-20 -- $1.618 million
2020-21 -- $1 million
2021-22 -- $1 million

Guys! You're not supposed to touch the Cup! Now you'll never win it!

Seriously, have you ever seen the Cup at a charity event, or golf tournament, with players around who haven't won it? It's hilarious; they'll avoid it like the plague. Like an old girlfriend at a party they don't want to make eye contact with.

Hockey lore is if you're a player, and you haven't earned it, you can't touch it or you'll never win it. Hell, my son is 6, a pretty good little player, and when I take him to the Hall of Fame I plan to tackle him if he gets too close!

Hockey is the only contact sport with a best of seven championship. Thats why its the hardest trophy in sports to win. Every Champion is very deserving.
To say anything else is garbage, you don't have to out style 'em, but you can beat them down and that in itself is a lost art in pretty much all pro sports.

Well, maybe when the sports media stops swinging from the dick of Boston teams and their fans and start acknowledging them for what they really are, then I'll stop bitching.

Maybe when Boston fans wake up and realize their teams are not scrappy, small market, blue collar teams then I'll stop bitching as well.

Evidenced in this thread is the fine hypocrisy of Boston fans which runs rampant.

Bruins fans pumped that Rome was suspended for a hit, but calling Chara's hit clean. Bitching about Burrows bite, but not acknowledging Savard's biting. Bitching about LaPierre taunting Boston players with his finger, then Boston fans getting a kick out of Recchi shoving his finger in someone's face seeing if they want to bite it. After Claude Julien said that taunting would not be tolerated from his team.

Cognitive dissonance is prevalent in Boston. Thank God I only visit that city once a decade or so.

The media is only giving more coverage to Boston teams recently because they are winning. It's that simple. For the longest time the Red Sox were lovable losers, the Patriots just plain losers, the Celtics a team of the past, and the Bruins just a footnote. Seven championships in ten years will get teams noticed.

There are fans around the world who live solely through their teams and that is unhealthy. Equally unhealthy is someone who feeds off their hatred of sports teams. It's just supposed to be a pleasant diversion. Let it go...

Still crying I see.

Savard only played 25 games this season. We are talking about this series. The Championship series. Like all the Canucks fans, you're cryiing about something that happened ages ago. Chara's hit has nothing to do with this series. WTF? So because Savard bit someone that makes it ok for a Canuck to do it? What are you 5? Go back and look at game two- The canucks taunted with the fingers first, after the bite. After the Bruins took the high road, said nothing to the press other than, "There's nothing we can do about it, we'll let the league handles it." They didn't cry like Canuck bitches about it or make a federal case out of it., but the Vancouver crybabies couldn't let it go and taunted the B's the next game. Thats when the B's gave it right back to them. Rightfully so.

Rome's hit was late and a blindsided hit. Watch the replay. Rome jumped and his feet left the ice to get to Horton's head level to put the hit on him. It was dirty. If you still have a problem with Chara's hit or Rome's suspension- cry about it to the NHL. How is any of that The Bruin's fault?Burrows biting Bergeron and Rome's hit is on them, not the Bruins.

Juilan did tell the team to knock off the taunting, the heat of the moment got the better of them, and they said so; but don't think julian didn't ream them when they got into the lockerroom after the game. He wasn't happy and let them know it and it stopped.

Face it: the Bruins goalie was better than the Canucks. Mary-Kate and Ashley Sedin were not a factor, Kesler looks great in his underwear, but not in this series and once again, Lebrongo choked and quit.

Now run along and go break something.
