Wandy will get knocked out if he fights like, well, Wandy. He has to be the worst at utilizing a gameplan. Why he thought brawling with a guy who has a much more solid chin (Leben) was a good idea is beyond me, if he used the technical striking he used against Bisping he probably would've picked him apart and at least gotten a UD. If the same Wanderlei that fought Bisping shows up, he'll have a chance. Hopefully he learned a lesson in his fight with Leben, because he's one of my all time favorites.yeahbuddy wrote:You think? It should be an entertaining fight.slash4pres wrote:Vitor's out at 139, Wandy is in, and he's gonna get wrecked by Cung Le
The entire card for 139 is a good one.

Jones or Jackson?
Jackson's only chance is if he lands a big punch. Jones, because of his length and wicked angles, will wear Jackson down until he finally takes him out. I dont think the pressure of being the champ will bother Jones. In the Jones fights I have seen, he has always been very composed.

I'd always give Jackson that punchers chance, it appears he's been training hard but outside that I think Jones handles him pretty easily. Koschek V Hughes..?? I hope I get to see Nate Diaz fight, I enjoy his surliness...yeahbuddy wrote:Jones or Jackson?

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
When is the last time Nate Diaz has won a fight? Unlike his brother, Nate plays the game the UFC wants him to play so he will always have a fight. That's a good thing. He is going against an asian figher, so he will win. I cant stand the asian fighters in the UFC!MotorVenom wrote:I'd always give Jackson that punchers chance, it appears he's been training hard but outside that I think Jones handles him pretty easily. Thanks for posting this link. I've got 3 sites that have always worked for me, and none of them had a clean link. In fact, one of them wasnt showing the fight at all.Kid-Wicked wrote:this one seems ok: http://www.vipbox.tv/watch/4964/2/ufc-1 ... -only.html
The only fight I saw completely from beginning to end was the Jones/Jackson fight. The rest of the fights were in and out.
Jackson couldnt do anything because of the reach advantage of Jones.
Jones is the real deal. And like Anderson Silva, I dont see anyone in the near future beating him. R. Evans looked good against Tito, but Tito aint no Bones Jones.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
The only guy I think has a small chance is Machida.
Because he is so difficult to hit/takedown/keep down, I can see him maybe winning a decision. Or who knows, tag jones, that would be great.
Rashad will get beat up.
Nice to see Hunt win again. I almost went crazy when he almost pulled the armbar. Lol at Rogan coaching him. "THE aRM! IT'S RIGHT THERE, TAKE IT"!

Did anyone watch the season premier of TUF? Almost every "get-into-the-house" fight was a submission or a knockout. But then the montage of what's going to happen this season made it look like a bunch of yahoos are in the house.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
The Jones - Rampage fight was ok...nothing spectacular IMO. I really think Rampage could have did more if he would have pressed Jones instead of waiting to react to Jones pressing him. I`ll agree with Rogan as well, Rampage knows how to throw leg kicks...and with an opponent as tall and thin as Jones, the legs are a weakness when you start pounding them with leg kicks. That alone could have been an avenue for Rampage to be able to get inside of Jones` long reach and possibly inflict some punches.
The Jones - Evans fight will be fun to watch if for no other reason than Evans off-kilter fighting style. Rashad Evans does not stay in front of his opponent like Rampage...instead he will be fight from different angles, and he may have a good chance at getting inside Jones` defense...
As much as I hate Kocheck, I have to give him credit for making Matt Hughes look like a weathered fighter. Its almost like Hughes is in it for the money now...I cant see him ever being a true "contender" for a title. It would be best for him to just go ahead and hang it up before he brings his win vs loss average down any further. Also, this fight makes you wonder just how beat up Hughes would have been had Sanchez been able to take the fight...
Neither of the 2 HW fights were very appealing to me...just 4 lumbering guys trying to punch themselves out. Hunt needs to work on his cardio in order for him to ever be in true contention for a title in the HW division. Same for Ben Rothwell...both of these guys couldnt have lasted a single minute longer. Browne and Broughton werent much better, but atleast they didnt look as winded at the end of their match.
What can ya say about Nate Diaz..he is what he is, and rarely does he fail to entertain. Will be good to see him in later fights as he works his way back up...

I agree with much of the above, spot on. I do think Rashad will pose a bit more of an interesting challenge. I know all the talk has been of St. Pierre V Silva but realistically I think Silva is too big for St. Pierre...???? I think a Jones V Silva fight is more realistic and interesting if Jones can go through a few more people like he has been doing. I thought Hughes looked good in the first few minutes but I think even he knows his top tier days are past him. Really enjoyed the Diaz fight. Seems like some good fights ahead in the next few months, not a main event but I'm excited to see Guida V. Henderson.

Penn will actually make it an exciting fight, whereas GSP woul try to grapplefuck him for 25 minutes, so all the UFC fans that haven't seen him fight will see what he's all about. On top of that, this will be a good test to see if Diaz actually can go toe to toe with upper level Welterweight compitition, because if he can't get past BJ, he won't stand a chance against GSP. We'll probably still see Diaz vs. GSP because I don't see BJ winning this at all. If Condit manages to beat GSP, the title fight between Diaz and Condit would be epic. Who knows, we could see GSP vs. Diaz, but with a champion Diaz and challenger GSP. The Welterweight title picture is so much more exciting than it was a year ago.yeahbuddy wrote:That works for me.slash4pres wrote:Dana White just tweeted that Penn vs Diaz at 137 is official

Diaz's recovery skills are wicked and he's got a stone chin. His boxing skills are precise with power. Has BJ ever fought a guy that can box like Diaz can? Bj's best days are behind him. So what if he knocked Matt Hughes out in under a minute. Josh Koschek did it just as quick once he figured out what Hughes 's gameplan was. Will Diaz win? Will BJ win? Who knows, its going to be a great fight.milk-milk-lemonade wrote:X-lent Counter!BD888 wrote:You can't see Diaz beating BJ Penn? Diaz's only advantages are longer reach and better stamina. Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I watched 135 yesterday (or at least the fights the non HW fights, I have no interest in seeing 2 fat fucks lumbering around for 15 minutes because of the high altitude. Nate Diaz looked almost exactly like his brother, but if you ask Goldberg he looks like A. Silva, because he apparently invented dropping the hands. Hughes/Kos went pretty much exactly as I thought it would, neither even bothered with taking it to the ground, and Kos knocked him the fuck out. Hughes' striking looked really good up until he got KOed, though. Jones/Rampage was a worse beatdown than Shogun/Jones, Rampage had nothing to offer him. The one time Rampage actually got a good hit on him, Jones turned into Jessie Owens. It was good to see a LHW champ actually get a non controversial title defense for once.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I thought the same thing about Diaz, although more like a minor league version of his brother. Diaz's opponent couldnt have been better picked to get him back in the win column.slash4pres wrote:I watched 135 yesterday (or at least the fights the non HW fights, I have no interest in seeing 2 fat fucks lumbering around for 15 minutes because of the high altitude. Rampage actually landed something? The first two rounds I thought were good because it appeared that each fighter was sticking to their game plan, and came off like a game of chess. But by the 3rd round it was obvious that Jones was just wearing Jackson down. With every kick & punch that Jones landed, Jackson was heading down hill to defeat without any chance of landing "the shot".

Went to the ADCC wtih Roger and his team to support Lagarto, Kyra, Braulio and Victor Estima, and met a ton people like Werdum, Rickson, Renzo, Pahlares, Garcia etc, and went for drinks afterwards with a lot of the fighters, was quite cool. One funny quote was hearing Jacare saying at the hotel bar, "I tap to beer". A lot of the guys are training for MMA fights now. Roger didn't compete due to the King Mo fight.

He's hilarious, he was walking around hugging people in an almost body slam type way. He sent 3 guys to the medics at the ADCC from ankle locks. He seems slightly insane. I didn't speak to him. He's shorter than he looks but built like the proverbial brick shit house.mullet_head wrote:So how stupid Palhares really is?
Marcelo had the best fights, he won all his fights in his division by submission if I remember correctly. He didn't enter the absolute though. Watching Legarto get choked out was tough. On the mats on Monday, he told us the he was trying to wait the clock out, and had decided to fight the choke instead of defend the hooks, then he went out. It was touching to hear him almost apologize to his students. He's just the coolest guy. Kyra came in on the same day and taught a variation on an omoplata from closed guard.
