Niners vs. Lions
Who would've thought this would be the game to get excited about this week?
Let's go Niners! (although I can't help but feel okay if Detroit gets the W)

That was a great game to the end. 1 yard on a touchdown determined the whole thing, against a team that I don't think has gave up any crucial 4th downs.

65,000 - 70,000 is a good range. It's better to have 10,000 people that want seats but can't get them than it is to have 10,000 seats nobody wants. If they remain competitive they will end up with a waiting list for season tickets. Once that happens they can keep the place near capacity for a long time. And with demand they can keep ticket prices high and charge licensing fees.LAglamrocker wrote:i wonder if Detroit regrets building the smallest stadium in the NFL, now that people want ot come to the games for the next decade

Agreed. Jack Kent Cooke built the dump that is Fed Ex Field in Maryland when the Redskins had sold out RFK (55,000) for about 30 years running. So, Fed Ex was built with 75,000. Good move, right?SkyDog112046 wrote:65,000 - 70,000 is a good range. It's better to have 10,000 people that want seats but can't get them than it is to have 10,000 seats nobody wants. When Snyder bought the team he expanded the place year after year, including putting in thousands of terrible obstructed view seats that the original design didn't consider accomodating, untill the place held over 90,000.
So, what was once a hot ticket, became due to expansion and year after year of shitty football a ridiculously EASY ticket. This has resulted in the Skins' imaginary "waiting list" dissapearing, and Snyder, the last two years, REDUCING capacity of the place. Chopping out seats left and right in the club section and upper deck. Of course the ridiculous obstructed view seats remain.
70,000 is the right size for an NFL stadium.
Also, your list is a bit out of date. The new Cowboys stadium is the biggest by far, I think close to 100,000.

Re: Niners vs. Lions
September 20, 2009: The Cowboys played their first NFL regular season game in the new stadium, with former President and Texas resident George W. Bush handling the opening coin toss. The Cowboys lost to their long-time NFC East division rivals, the New York Giants, 33–31 with Eli Manning leading them on a last second field goal by Lawrence Tynes. It was televised on NBC.[30] This game attracted a record-breaking crowd of 105,121.
September 28, 2009: The Cowboys got their first home regular season win. They beat the Carolina Panthers 21–7 with 90,588 in attendance. The game was televised on ESPN's Monday Night Football and marked a record 42nd win for the Cowboys on MNF.

Except that you are wrong by at least 20,000 seats. Please stick with grammar policing.
I think can't stop the stupid believes that the Dallas Cowboys still play in the old Texas Stadium.

It seats 80,000
That 105K or whatever was probably counting the SRO sections and the people walking around in the concourse who were technically 'in attendance'.

They sold seats that didn't exist and also had folding chairs lined up in aisles that the fire marshal refused to let them use. Thousands of fans ended up not being allowed in and sued with the NFL paying them off.
From their website: "The stadium seats 80,000, making it the third largest stadium in the NFL by seating capacity. The maximum capacity of the stadium, including standing room, is 110,000."
The problem was that the expandable seats weren't approved. It can expand to 100k, but normal capacity is 80k.

You should stick to sending underage girls money so they'll have sex with you, only to find they've spent the money to go have sex with someone who isn't their 60s.

It's funny that you have to resort to 4 lies in one sentence in a feeble ATTEMPT to come up with a sick burn.
0-4.
No, FULLBACK OF FAIL - capacity DOES NOT mean "how many people will possibly fit into the stadium."

It's amazing that you are the last one on Sludge who thinks calling me Indy is a "sick burn," when in fact it is far more noteworthy to mention your pathetic attempt at chickenhawking, which was rebuffed as your young target fled into the arms of someone not on the AARP rolls. Deathcurse's absence will NOT halt the spread, and incessant repetition, of your December-March romantic fail.cantstopthemusic wrote:It's funny that you have to resort to 4 lies in one sentence in a feeble ATTEMPT to come up with a sick burn.

Nice work, you creepy old man who send money to chicks to have sex with them, but then they go have sex with someone born the same century as them. Though you didn't come up with that picture either. Do you have ANY original material, besides the stuff that leaks out of your depends every afternoon?

Heard Harbaugh gave his team the entire week off(bye week). Players are not expected to report back to
team practice facility until next Monday.
Not sure how standard this is, especially when a team is coming off a victory and is 5-1 heading into
the bye week.
