 Nobody has said that since 1994. I'm having a tough time drinking the kool aid, but they are really playing well right now. The AFC is really sketchy this year. Who can figure out Baltimore? Which Pats team is gonna show up? The Jets and Pitt are both inconsistent as hell. Cinci still looks good despite their loss yesterday. The Titans are still hanging around and Indy is 0-10. Weird year.

Romo played his 1st game 100% healthy since the rib injury.
Murray at RB looks like a beast(again). I just don't know if Felix Jones can regain his starting spot when his high ankle sprain heals up.

How about them Cowboys!!
And they have lined up three games that should be easy to win (Redskins, Dolphins and Cardinals) before meeting the Giants in what should be the (first part) match for the NFC East crown 8)

This season I am being very cautious and taking each game one at a time.
Are there any "easy games to win" this season? I don't know about that.

Dallas is getting on a roll and after having to endure the grueling schedule to start the season, I guess the perception is the upcoming schedule is a little lighter.

The parity thing has been around for a long time now, but I can't think of another season that had results that were this bizarre. I'm thinking the lockout and all the flukey injuries this year must be the root cause. The Niners are 8-1, the Texans are kicking the shit out of teams and Tebow won a game where he only completed 2 passes. 2. This is just a really, really weird season.

It's not parity. Even though every team has a fatal flaw there are clearly 4-5 teams better than everyone else in each conference. It's just that there isn't a completely dominant team like the '85 Bears. Even GB has issues with their secondary that could be a problem down the stretch.

A lot of it has to do with the lack of off season and shortened training camp. It through off the first 3-4 weeks of the season and made it hard for teams to address their flaws. I do think coaching will turn out to be a bigger factor than usual come December.

The AFC:
Houston, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and New England are the best teams in the conference. It would be a big upset if one of those teams wasn't in the Superbowl. Whoever wins the west will be knocked out in the 1st round. Cincinnati should fade down the stretch. New York will probably hang around and grab the last wild card spot. But all of the teams have flaws that can be exploited.
Texans: They look to be the most complete team as of now. But elite QB's can exploit that secondary.
Steelers: Inconsistent, swiss cheese offensive line, vulnerable to spread offenses.
Ravens: They can't come back on good teams. Jump out to a multiple score lead and most of the time it's game over.
Patriots: Lousy defense, no deep threat on offense, special teams are bad.
Bengals: Rookie QB still a little shaky.
Jets: Sanchez looks like a deer in the headlights most of the time. He is easily confused. Look what NE did to him yesterday with a bunch of spare parts playing defense.

All good points, I agree.

My thing is that with the "parity" campaign that's been going on since the salary cap started, there's only a handful of decent teams each year.

I think there is ONE legit team this year: Green Bay. Not convinced by anyone else.

Very good summation. Some of the teams that are already out of the playoff race are hard to read as well. Jacksonville? When they win, they look fantastic. If Cleveland gets another offensive touchdown this season, I will be in shock.

Green Bay's defense is pretty suspect too. They're still the team to beat until somebody knocks them off, and their offense is a machine, but I don't think they're quite as good as their record. They're vulnerable to high powered offenses as evidenced by the Saints and San Diego games.

Body-more loses to Seattle?

Not sold on Cincy AT ALL

Steelers - fakers

My beloved Jets - shite D-line, shite Schottenheimer

Houston - yeah, they're pretty good

Pats - AFC championship game max, IMHO.

It will make the offense one dimensional and defenses can load up to stop the run. They will still win the division, but that might cost them the #1 seed.

Pretty much this. I haven't heard how long he'll be out. If it's a game or two, they're probably fine. If it's for the year, they could (probably should) still win the division, but it kind of kills the hopes of a deep run. They haven't been throwing the ball deep much anyway though. It's all been short stuff to the tight ends and backs ever since AJ got hurt. They've still got a great defense, a great offensive line, two really good tight ends and the best running tandem in the game. The Texans aren't Indy. They might be OK.

Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub will miss the rest of the season with a Lisfranc injury, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

A lisfranc injury means that one or more of the bones running from the toes to the heel has dislocated. The prognosis even on a minor dislocation is 6 weeks in a cast and a major dislocation is surgery and then 10-12 weeks.

Rushing back from this injury leaves someone susceptible to more serious dislocations. This is the injury that eventually cost Oakland lineman Curt Marsh his foot.

I wouldn't expect to see Schaub back until the playoffs at the earliest.

SkyDog112046 wrote:What network coverage is the best? Which one is the worst?

I like the Sunday Night Football coverage the best. Best call of the game, best commentary, good camera angles.

CBS's coverage of the AFC games is pretty good. If one of the better crews calls the game it's almost as good as SNF.

I don't care much for the games on Fox. Some of the camera angles they use makes it hard to see what's going on and they seem to miss stuff from time to time.

MNF on ESPN sucks. The crew is a joke, they miss plays, and they seem to feel like the show is in the booth and not on the field.

Thoughts?
Good question, and having a little "history" in broadcasting and filming football games myself, I have an interest in this aspect of professional football. NBC is and was the king. Back when they had the AFC games (and CBS had the NFC, pre FOX baby!) NBC was top dog, and their presentation now is fantastic. Al Micheals and Bob Costas on the same show? The two best sports announcers! I also really like CBS. Most of their announcing duo's are top notch, they have some real legends, and I enjoy the chemistry of their pregame/postgame team. MNF hasn't been good since they broke up the Michaels/Dierdorf/Gifford team. The only good thing about the whole Monday night pregrame is Steve Young, but he is cancelled out by Trent Dilfer. Fox and NFLN just suck.

Yes. The previous ten seasons along with the next ten seasons we are going to have. Hence, why I said "in between." It's a reasonable sacrifice to have one bad season in exchange for guaranteeing the future of the franchise, which the #1 pick will do.

I, along with many other people, have always said that if Peyton goes down, we won't win many games. That reality has manifested itself this year. It was an unavoidable situation. We were never gonna win many games with Painer under center. I'm not into excuses, but given the injury situation to our team this year, let's just say no one expected us to go to the Super Bowl. Given the situation, I'd rather gain a #1 pick from it, than gain a mid round pick. Moving forward, we'll be in very good position.

I look forward to Peyton coming back healthy and leading this team to 2-3 more Super Bowls while Andrew Luck waits his turn to take over the reigns from Peyton.

Your team is done for the long and short term and Houston is primed to be very good for quite a while. They'll still compete without their QB, and your team is the joke of the NFL without yours. Enjoy your memories, cuz that's all you've got left. No answer on the beatdown I've predicted for later this year? Really? You really are a pussy.
