Best sports video games?

Post by dtmfs »

sports games are pretty much all I play on the PS3, The madden series never seems to get better just stays the same.

MLB The show is the best by far, though they['ve got rid of the HOF and their historical records are pretty weak. The 2k series looks awful but has great stuff like team records and a full list of historical records to shoot for, If the look and gameplay was even close to the show they'd have something. I hope the rumors of EA getting back into MLB are true.

NASCAR use to be great but the new one sucks, career mode only consists of one season WTF?

The fight night games are prretty cool but I've yet to try any MMA stuff.

I downloaded a 2k11 hack for the PC. Ended up winning the Superbowl with the Lions.

WTF is that pose they used for MJ? The other two are about what I'd expect, but his is nowhere near any of the iconic Jordan images.

The Madden NFL series never get it right. When they finally get a nice improvement (like the AFL mode from last year, or the chance to play FOR FREE with Hall of Famers in 2009), they drop it in the next version :?

Still I'm a big fan and keep on getting them since 2008 8)

The FIFA soccer series are becoming hugely succesfull worldwide.

Some things i'd like to see them change...

a better create a player option

a better HOF, Busts retired jerseys ect. the old 2k baseball games with the skyboxes with halls of retired jerseys and trophy rooms were bad ass.

Hate to say it but you guys are on to something. I think 96 for Genesis might have been the best one. I would consider it the greatest sporst game ever. And I still think that for some reason hockey is the sport that really is perfect for a video game. Though I hate the sport otherwise.

I haven't missed one Madden game going all the way back to Macintosh way back when, lol. But as someone pointed out, it doesn't change enough from one year to the next...still, I always get it. Love the NCAA Football games, especially now that they have pretty much got a perfect version of every college stadium and in many cases town. I spent many a day walking around Athens, OH and it blows my mind that not only did they do a perfect version of Peden Stadium they also got all the surrounding buildings correct. The Convocation Center, all the dorms, apartments on the hill. Cool stuff. EA has done a fantastic job with the NHL. 2k really delivered the goods with last years' NBA game.

I used to play the Madden games, but never could win an online game against another player.
What got me was when I would see players with records like- 355 wins, 178 loses or 450 wins, 766 loses.
I would say to myself "do you do anything other than play Madden"? Jeez!!

I don't even know why I pay for X-Box live. Aside from streaming NetFlix because I rarely play games online. Most of the players on there do NOTHING but play video games. I am lucky to get an hour or so per week to devote to gaming, so I can't play Madden, Red Dead, or any other game competitively on-line.

Its a shame we can't have another 2K NFL game. NFL 2K5 is still the shit. I would even go so far as to say its Superior to Madden.

Really? Who was it that tried to rival Madden in the late 90's/early 2000's??? Their games were very inferior.
